poop song
|
| |
was pretty decent until I read the lyrics
criminally bad, especially that Final Countdown line
|
| |
This has actually got me quite excited for the new album albeit still cautious. It has some really solid guitar work. Not as good as classic In Flames but it is much better than I'd ever thought they would ever be again.
|
| |
Slaps
|
| |
"Joey was right, This is the final countdown" lmao yeah lyrics are something
Good song nonetheless, some Colony leads in here
|
| |
Decent track but the lyrics are lol
|
| |
We still do not know what was on his head.
|
| |
its a slapper bois
|
| |
Probably not, but I gave up years ago. . . . .
|
| |
S’pretty cheesy imo.
|
| |
Actually digging this a good bit more than the other single
|
| |
No thanks, if I want some poppy melodeath but done right, I'll just jam to Soilwork.
|
| |
this is the final countdown lmao
|
| |
actually sort of sounds like mid-era In Flames for once, not bad
|
| |
doesn't that mean it's poop then
|
| |
Who the hell is Joey?
Edit: Oh wait I get LMFAO that is fucking hilariously awful
And yeah the lyrics sounds like they were written by a teenager.
|
| |
Veteran bands releasing bland songs this year are like my ex-wife, fuckin’ everywhere.
|
| |
Lyrics are Anders Friden-tier but I really like the song. It's not their glory days relived but it has some of that mid-era IF touch.
|
| |
I don't understand how neither singles sound cringe since this band has been cringe for so long
On the other hand, the lyrics are super cringe
|
| |
who is joey
|
| |
The singer from Europe
Yep, you read that right
|
| |
are you fucking kidding me lol
|
| |
Anders is a singer from Europe too. Get it? HAHAHAHA LMFAO!!!!
|
| |
Should have just said "I was right"
Song is pretty decent tho, nothing amazing but at least not awful either.
|
| |
Wait. That is what that line was referencing too. That is bloody brilliant. lol
|
| |
Fuck man, even my lyrics are better than this. Musically this is not bad though, the guitar writing feels inspired enough.
|
| |
Not the worst thing I've ever heard. 3/5
|
| |
The lyrics on this make Fred Durst sound like a poetic genius
|
| |
Is it just me, or do rhyming lyrics like this just sound childish anyway? Why force a shitty one-word rhyme scheme? It sounds like a kindergartener’s school paper and it restricts good writing.
“What rhymes with ‘lie’…..OH! ‘Cry’!”
|
| |
And for anyone curious... Joey is Joey Tempest... the vocalist of Europe.. they had the song The Final Countdown..
|
| |
The song sounds pretty good but that Joey line ugh.
|
| |
This band is still going?
|
| |
This would be a great Sesame Street act. Like, five minutes in, and you can carry the kids to bed.
|
| |
Musically really good, lyrically a bit embarrassing.
|
| |
fuck me i enjoyed some of this, especially that first verse, nice groove
|
| |
That final countdown line is absolutely hilarious. If you ignore the lyrics the song is actually kinda decent.
|
| |
Nothing to write home about but a step in the right direction
|
| |
"criminally bad, especially that Final Countdown line"
Lol'd when I heard it. Very cringe.
|
| |
Joey was right.
Song is okay I suppose.
|
| |
Like 2 percent of metal has good lyrics so I don't really care
|
| |
Very disappointing after the somewhat decent first track
|
| |
My life was better before I saw these lyrics.
|
| |
DISTORT THE TRUTH
LIE TO ME
RAIN IS GOD'S TEARS
I FLY ON ANGEL'S WINGS
|
| |
a lyric video you knew you didn't need
|
| |
I mean, y'all are complaining about In Flames lyrics now? This is the same band that, at the height of their talent and popularity, gave you such gems as
THE RIVER RUNS TOWARDS THE SEA
BUT THE SEA IS NEVER FULL
(Oceans...how do they work?)
and
I'VE TRIED CONFIDENCE
HAD IT FOR BREAKFAST TODAY
(I think Confidence tastes better at brunch, personally...)
Don't start reading the lyric sheet now, lol
|
| |
joey was right
i wanna be sedated
|
| |
ALL LIES AND DECEIT
WHERE DREAMS AND REALITY MEET
|
| |
"THE RIVER RUNS TOWARDS THE SEA
BUT THE SEA IS NEVER FULL"
Lol I kinda like that one. I knew what he was going for at least and it's not that bad
|
| |
Fvck the haters.
This Slaps.
|
| |
DISTORT THE TRUTH
DESTROY THE TRAITORS
FROM ASHES WE RISE
FUCK THE HATERS
|
| |
That Joey lyric might be one of the worst ever written in all of metal.
|
| |
One of the worst ever in music as a whole I'd say
|
| |
Potentially true.
|
| |
If you don't listen to the lyrics, it's a pretty good track.
|
| |
no thought only riff, riff good
|
| |
In Flames keeping themselves relevant by generating chatter.over awful lyrics and the slight possibility that they might release a half decent album again.
Songs ok, reminds me.of Trigger somehow.
|
| |
The song is not good regardless of lyrics
|
| |
imagine caring about lyrics on an in flames song holy fuck
|
| |
Gotta draw a line somewhere tbh
|
| |
I like old In Flames lyrics though:
"I often dream of huge numb buildings
Jet-black sinister architecture
Being installed when nobody sees
Their appearance so sudden
That few would take notice
And when I wake up
I imagine being crushed by one
Imagining its weight its silence
And the absence of excuses for a havoced life
And the privilege of a 22-kilometer tombstone"
obviously it's a matter of taste but great imagery and interesting metaphors are a lot more palatable then, "the earth is doomed we are cursed there is no hope the future is going to suffer blah blah"
|
| |
say what you want about the lyrics but this is the most melodic death they have sounded in a long ass time, i like the sound of both new tracks. Not sure what's objectionable about the lyrics anyway, literally the environment is being destroyed and there's tons of misinformation and BS out there about it.
|
| |
Absolutely agreed.
Ppl are so petty on here nitpicking one damn thing over the quality of a song. Pfft
It’s melodeath Karens lol
|
| |
DISTORT THE TRUTH
|
| |
these lyrics are stellar compared "to this is our house" from their last album
|
| |
[Intro]
This is the fight, the fight for our lives
Scream out loud, this is our house
[Chorus]
Would you join me in the fight, fight for our lives?
Oh, scream out loud, this is our house
|
| |
Yeah the lyrics here are basically Shakespeare compared to this is our house
|
| |
shadowneko knows
|
| |
new halo effect guaranteed to poop all over this
|
| |
I don't know... first two halo effect singles are super meh
|
| |
super meh >>> super poop
|
| |
Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed the riffs here more than the halo effect singles tbh
|
| |
eak, bafflingly and unfortunately I have to agree
super disappointed with The Halo Effect tracks so far
|
| |
Y’all are we actually gonna make an In Flames album have an average over 3 again!?!?!?
|
| |
I'll try my best to make sure it doesn't happen
|
| |
Thanks for your service
|
| |
The Halo Effects songs have all been worse than IFs so far, which is absolutely hilarious and crazy. They've been super generic.
|
| |
https://youtu.be/xONZ-vZOAPc
|
| |
it may just happen Storm
|
| |
Calling it now. A solid 3.3
|
| |
calling it now, State of Slow Decay is a fluke borderline 3.5 song and the rest will suck ass
|
| |
Ahhh, so you're banking on a 2.7 then
|
| |
better than modern at the gates agreed
|
| |
Surprise opener to the album... this is y(our) house. And then the single 6 month later this is y(our) house club remix
|
| |
Modern at the gates is pretty boring yeah
|
| |
yeah Eak, thereabouts
wtf are you ppl talking about any song from To Drink From the Night Itself shits on this with a million flaming turds
|
| |
Personally, I find this to be more fun to listen to but I wouldn't say it's necessarily "better" than that album
|
| |
I would listen to modern anders over modern lindberg any day of the week though
|
| |
lindberg on the last album sounds abysmal, agreed
anders on the other hand sounds like a whiny fucking bitch, shockingly not so on these 2 tracks so far though
|
| |
Huge step down from the last single - and that was only good because it sounded like an At The Gates B-Side for most of it.
|
| |
I suppose I'm a tad confused. They were dead-set on their new direction, which is fine, do your thing while I 1.0 from a distance. But with this and the Clayman anniversary, it's like they're suddenly chasing down the glory days that they've spent years removing themselves from.
In all honesty, besides the lyrics, the single is perfect inoffensive. It's just strange and rather hollow on the whole.
|
| |
I have a feeling that Bjorn is stepping up his game a little now that a guy who used to be in Megadeth is in the band. Can't be writing stuff like This Is Our House and Here Until Forever with Chris Broderick looking over your shoulder.
And their new drummer is pretty versatile and into heavier stuff, so I imagine he wanted to play more aggressive music for his first full album with the band.
That's just speculation though -- DT got two shredmeisters in 2020 and they wound up putting out one of their most mellow albums right after.
|
| |
I’ll bet it’s because the people on Sputnikmusic said their music sucked and they want to impress a music website.
|
| |
Fun fact: Anders is actually one of the most active users on Sputnik
|
| |
We are looking for anyone that 5'd Siren Charms. . . . .
|
| |
"I’ll bet it’s because the people on Sputnikmusic said their music sucked and they want to impress a music website."
That's definitely what it is... but seriously, their social media posts are loaded with comments saying they need to go back to their old sound. I'm sure they've seen some of that stuff
|
| |
Old In Flames lyrics were really great. Jester Race, Whoracle, and Colony.
|
| |
Yeah how much of those did Anders write himself?
But now I'm shitting on their good stuff because they've been so fucking horrible for the past 15 years
|
| |
"We are looking for anyone that 5'd Siren Charms. . . . ."
storm
|
| |
"But now I'm shitting on their good stuff because they've been so fucking horrible for the past 15 years"
the enlightened one
|
| |
"it's like they're suddenly chasing down the glory days that they've spent years removing themselves from"
it's actually a very logical move, they've been prioritizing commercial success over everything else for a while. based off their last album's singles "i am above" currently has 40k spotify streams (their 4th most streamed ever, even surpassing take this life) whereas "this is our house" only got 10k. so it only makes sense that they continue in the direction of the former
these singles might be half decent but dont mistake them for a genuine revival comeback or whatever lmao. i'm sure if someone made an A.I. write songs based off their clayman-era patterns they would also sound at least half decent
in fact they could really use an A.I. to write them lyrics based off whoracle-colony
|
| |
Fuck y’all lol
|
| |
In Flames 2 for 2, howbowdah
|
| |
Damn alamo I don't think most bands are as cynical as you make in flames out to be here. Certainly not they themselves. You can't do banger shows year after year and then go into the studio to write some music that might aswell be written by an A.I. Thats not how musicians work.
I absolutely despise this garbage ass cynical mindset of internet music "enjoyers".
|
| |
I really doubt the band decided to go back to please those complaining fans, this band has never done that, I mean it's been what over 20 years now, there's no way they just started listening now, this band always does whatever they want even if some fans don't like it.
|
| |
exactly.
|
| |
"Yeah how much of those did Anders write himself?"
I dont think he wrote any of it, pretty sure Clayman was the first record where he started writing his own lyrics.
|
| |
Flug is right
|
| |
I mean its fine to not vibe with some music but don't go around making random shit up about artists and spin some asinine narratives.
|
| |
Dare I say I like the New In Flames singles more than the Halo Effect album?
THE was great but sweet jesus, Anders can scream. Also, real melodeath always has heavy punching secondary backing guitars which In Flames are seriously bringing it high here.
That's what was missing on THE. Not enough punch with the other guitar work.
|
| |
fully agreed
|
| |
I like them more too which is probably the biggest shock of my life. They're not amazing but hey at least it's decent
|
| |
Bad lyrics shouldn't surprise anyone, this is the same guy who wrote "I feel like shit, but at least I feel something" after all
|
| |
also I have to agree that In Flames must have wanted to pursue commercial success, as there is no other justifiable reason to move their music in whatever direction it went after Clayman
|
| |
that’s the line you choose? that’s not even bad.
|
| |
that line isn't bad? what is it then lol? laughable? tasteless? embarrasing? horrible? all of the above?
|
| |
emo
|
| |
It's definitely cringe but probably not even the worst from their newer material
|
| |
Also I think the take that In Flames never listened to what the fans wanted and never conformed to influences outside the band with the ultimate goal to get more exposure ergo money is pretty oblivious. These dudes have been trying to get kids and americans to like them since 2002, not saying that's bad or not, but let's not lose sight of the business aspect that these guys VERY much care about as they should
|
| |
Yeah it's pretty obvious lol
|
| |
When I first heard that emo line it was quits for me when it comes to In Flames, I know they wrote much worse shit after that, but that's fortunately not something I'm privy to
|
| |
I think chasing commercial success among 12-year-old children has really ruined In Flames. Soilwork's "sellout" (as in lazy & radio friendly) phase only took 3 albums, while In Flames haven't managed to exit theirs ever since 2002. I think they just liked the money a little bit too much. So I can understand why people are excited about Anders toning down the whine and the band playing heavy again
|
| |
00s were amazing for in flames.
|
| |
