SPREAD YOUR WANGS

I lol'd a little too hard at the part.
| |
What is this shit
| |
Christ
| |
My god the chorus is horrible. As far as the music this is a code red.
| |
I keep wanting to be more annoying about the upcoming record and be like “it’s gonna fuckin rule and all the people who want them to return to the Kids stuff can suck an egg” but these singles have barely done anything for me. I don’t hate this but it feels like such a step back from even the poppier stuff on Underneath.
| |
Remember when this band was a four piece and didn’t suck
| |
this band fuckjing sucks
| |
it's actually kinda decent. Since when do they have a keyboarder tho
| |
Shade switched from guitar to DJ/Synths for Underneath. He actually did pick up guitar again but only to fill in for Dom for their recent European tour. It’s pretty cool that he can still play the riffs, but just wants to do DJ shit
| |
Band has always been butt fudge, but this is something else. The music almost looks like it was made for the video, not the other way around.
Bet it will be on the next Madden or some shit
| |
Hahahahahahaha
| |
I just pretend code orange kids was a different band at this point, wild watching them trying to go pop, alienating their entire fanbase, and crashing and burning completely.
| |
I dont think this is a bad song by any means, I'm just constantly befuddled at the creative direction here. For christ sakes people used to murder each other to this band. I'd love to get in Jami and the rest of the bands head. I'll wait for the album and see what kind of ass-beaters are on it.
| |
I’m wondering why they made the instrumentation so lackluster and hard to be interested in. It sounds like everything is there just so they can have the chorus and they didn’t really care what they played… and to have Billy Corgan as some Sith Lord
| |
Code Orange doesn't deserve this hate. Its very common for fans of hardcore to gatekeep the bands they love, just to turn on those same bands when they choose to experiment with other genres. I'm really excited to see what other twists and turns they have in store on this album.
| |
Chorus sounds like Linkin Park
| |
That's an insult to Linkin Park honestly lol
| |
you're right, the chorus does have a real linkin park sound to it. but good lord this song is really awful.
| |
These guys collaborating with Billy Corgan is incredibly on brand. Both are massive wrestling dorks with wild narrative ambitions for their albums that have massively divided their fanbase due to never sitting still with a specific sound. Peas in a pod.
| |
Piss in a pot
| |
“Code Orange doesn't deserve this hate. Its very common for fans of hardcore to gatekeep the bands they love, just to turn on those same bands when they choose to experiment with other genres. I'm really excited to see what other twists and turns they have in store on this album.“
Bro, if by experiment with other genres you mean make derivative ass butt metal while collabing with one of the dumbest washed up mfs in the music business in 2023…. Yeah they’re sure doing some experimenting alright
| |
like, I expect that kind of take for bands like Turnstile or Knocked Loose…
no, they didn’t blow up and that’s why hardcore kids hate them, this just fucking sucks
| |
This is arguably Billy’s best thing in years. I dig the song.
| |
when they came up big off forever core kids were super down with it everything after that is just irredeemable and sucks
| |
I mean yes to a certain point but I also feel like that’s when people really started turning on them because they signed to Roadrunner + it sounded like nu metal. Like look back at when that album dropped a lot of people fucking hated it
| |
Yeah idk, I feel like going from playing pretty well thought out throwback metalcore to playing nu metal devoid of transitions would alienate most anyone unless you’re down with the second one already, which, this is 2023 not 2002.
| |
[2]
^best take
| |
Early into the nu-metalcore, i thought “maybe it’ll be fun! It could add some bounce and shit to stale ass scenecore”
Should’ve remembered most of the bands would’ve sucked regardless and putting nu-metal in was gonna be like when you shit and you can smell something you ate the day before. What was i thinking?
| |
are they still thinning herds or w/e
| |
That one Harms Way album was the first one I heard and I was like “idk man this is fun” and then bands kept going that route and it kept getting more and more cringebad and here we are
| |
I guess that’s what happens when bands hop on trends without the passion and skill to really bring the bounce 🤷
| |
Wasn’t too bad tbh
| |
“Yeah idk, I feel like going from playing pretty well thought out throwback metalcore to playing nu metal devoid of transitions would alienate most anyone unless you’re down with the second one already, which, this is 2023 not 2002.”
what are you talking about Return to Dust had zero song transitions, all it had were ideas that they immediately discarded. The records after it were way more cohesive, especially Underneath. You want to talk about transitions: pay attention to how that record changes from song to song. There’s clearly a lot of thought put into how it flows.
| |
Wow this is shitter than usual
| |
We got to tour with Killswitch Engage, but we don’t feel like, even if they are big, we don't want to be touring with these bargain bin fucking deathcore bands. You know what I mean? There is nothing in the future for it. It is a quick buck. We are not looking for a quick buck. We are not here for a quick buck. We are here for the long haul.
| |
They still want the buck, they just want it to take awhile?
| |
Jfc spec is that real thing they said?
| |
It’s from like 2016 but yeah. It’s copypasta material imo.
| |
@yowi
pretty sure they mean transitions within the songs, which are abrupt asf on underneath
| |
How to piss off everyone in a scene lmao
| |
this gave me kidney stones
| |
and god what a random fucking feature lol Billy Corgan? I like Smashing Pumpkins obv but they haven’t been relevant in like 25 years
At least the Corey Taylor feature makes sense.
| |
Say what you want about this track but acting like Forever was their last good record and Underneath wasn’t one of the most important heavy records in recent memory is a smooth brain take
| |
how about we split the difference and say they haven’t made a good record in 10 years
| |
billy's feature was pretty lame lol
| |
@yowi my friend, I could give a shit how good the interstitial stuff between songs is if the songs themselves are shittily written. They stopped using transitions in their songwriting completely and replaced almost all of it with abrupt pauses, drones out of nowhere, and harsh noise walls. If your songs don’t flow and you’re smack dab in the middle of two genres that kind of revolve around “groove”, I’m not gonna fuck with it
| |
I think I'm in the minority that wasn't too crazy about their early stuff but I really dig Underneath. This song isn't too bad imo, but that Corgan feature is super lame.
| |
Song gives off a real "Why am I listening to this bullshit?" vibe
| |
Some things should just never be released to the public.
| |
This is the worst song i have heard since I last listened to Jane Doe.
| |
I like his hair
| |
Yeah, boi. We're on the shitty side of metalcore again. Imagine you're only shtick is to copy Chester Bennington and release a song that sounds like a douchebag version of Runaway in 2023.
| |
Return To Dust and I Am King continue to be the best things this band has put out.
| |
who exactly is this even for lol
| |
Ima guess teenage pro wrestling fans
| |
Seems like the moment Jami became "the face" of the group is when they abandoned creativity for $$$.
| |
Id like a grungey band with Reba as lead tbh
| |
“who exactly is this even for lol”
Look I fuck with this band’s music but if you asked me what their demographic is at this point I would have no idea
| |
Their demographic is the "linkin park's one more light isn't their best but still a good album" crowd
| |
This for dudes who rock type o negative shirts like a THOT
| |
Shoulda let Reba sing lead on that chorus. Surprised at how phoned in this feels.
| |
It's hilarious how each album cover gets progressively more ass, too.
| |
Reba deserves a better band
| |
always did
| |
It baffles me that they are so restrained on letting Reba sing, maybe she does at live shows idfk ans have desire to find out because really dont like the band.
| |
I was never big on these guys and this song sure doesn't motivate me to change my tune
And I'm being polite here
| |
Haven’t read one comment but this song made me go “dafuq? (Billy Corgan?)” as a code orange veteran so kinda concerned to be honest. Totally unengaging song :/
| |
"Their demographic is the "linkin park's one more light isn't their best but still a good album" crowd"
lol I know what you mean and coming to think of it, I’m kinda that person lmao x)
| |
I love their heavier songs and think they get too much hate on this site, but I wish they’d stop with these awful butt metal songs
| |
Oh yikes..
| |
If the dropped the "Tough guy" persona they made for themselves they would probably be less irritating and easy to hate/dislike
| |
I’ve been saying that for years.
Or at least make music good enough to back up all that shit talk
| |
Time is a flat circle and when zoomers remembered y2k was a thing this was proven to be true
| |
I love the butt metal vibe. We need a butt metal revival.
| |
lmao
what is this, 2002?
| |
damn. what a shitshow
| |
Tough guy music by nerds.
| |
well done
| |
since when did chad kroeger start doing vocs for this band
| |
^ glad someone said something about that. Kept thinking about him and Justin Timberlake’s “Ramen Hair” from his *NSync days
| |
“If the dropped the "Tough guy" persona they made for themselves they would probably be less irritating and easy to hate/dislike”
I feel like they have more of a sense of humor than they’re given credit for, they just also want to appear tough at the same time. Honestly that makes the band funnier for me personally but I understand that that’s a tough pill to swallow. I remember reading an interview with Jami recently where he did admit that people felt put off by the band’s image during the Forever era. Hell I think they wrote “Out for Blood” to show that they can be goofy (in addition to getting on Octane) but it ended up making things way worse.
Yeah some of their tough guy shit is annoying but idk like, when they were in the studio with Steve Albini they drew Peter Griffin wearing a Code Orange shirt. They’re not humorless.
| |
I’ve always presumed CO had their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks with the tough guy schtick
| |
Yeah I think they're pretty self aware of their shtick. It is pretty funny though. Recently when I saw them, Jami had on the exact outfit and hair that JP* from Grandma's Boy had.
| |
I feel like they’ve seen how well bmth have transitioned into that mainstream metalcore vibe and they’re taking a similar tack. I miss their old vibe but I don’t hate this
| |
Lol this isn’t that bad. The Billy Corgan part was useless though. This album will have fuckin rippers like your typ CO release based off the vibe so far…hopefully
| |
yeah xpac was a good wrestler
| |
homie decided to get the nickleback haircut
| |
this clip/song is the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever seen
| |
Shit's pretty terrible ngl
| |
Hook is great
| |
It’s not. It’s all butt music
| |
Double post
| |
billy corgan lmaoooooooooooooooooooooo
| |
Man this song is good. They missed an opportunity for Reba here to jump in more on the verses though ala TBS.
| |
good song
| |
