Songtradr incorporates Bandcamp 2023-09-30 by Voivod STAFF | 19 Comments | According to Blabbermouth (see article link below), Songtradr, a music licensing firm and music marketplace, has acquired Bandcamp from Epic games.
Under the new ownership, Bandcamp core operations will remain intact, but its constituency will be granted access to licensing instruments relative to, quote "all forms of media including content creators, game and app developers and brands".
The acquisition takes place amidst a concerted effort from Songtradr and Epic towards licensing the portfolio of the former, to the ecosystem of the latter. In tandem, Epic will continue working with Bandcamp in projects such as Fortnite Radio, while focusing on its traditional activities.

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news/43736/Epic-Games-Acquires-Bandcamp/
| | | so, essentially, they’re attempting to add in licensing functions to bandcamp so that content creators can license their music for things like movies and games?
that doesn’t necessarily sound like a bad thing, as long as the original content creators are receiving a majority of the money from those licenses. someone can correct me if I’m understanding this wrong.
| | | ^^Apart from the licensing functions, I think that Epic traded Bandcamp so as to access it later on, along with Songtradr's clientele.
And yeah, neither is necessarily bad for Bandcamp and its community.
| | | didnt Epic purchase bandcamp or was that soundcloud?
| | | Epic had to lay off 800 employees so I'm sure this is a part of their company reconstruction.
| | | 'fortnite radio'

| | | Kinda like the radio in gta but it's in fortnite. Don't have to pay license fees if you own the platform. *Taps forehead*
| | | remember when Epic bought them years ago and this site was like awww the sky is falling and nothing changed.
