always happy to hear these dudes

I don't think anyone is expecting Darkest Hour to reinvent the wheel but this sounds pretty by the numbers, even for them. Competent as always, but a bit forgettable in the end. Will likely check the full album.
| |
Song is aight, curious where they go with the album. Love this production on them (same producer as S/T) and John sounds fantastic as usual
| |
glad these guys are still around
| |
Snagged a vinyl.
| |
Song is gas, can't wait for the album. Probably their best album cover too
John is such a great vocalist
| |
Copy and paste song
| |
glad to see that it is still, in fact, Orbin time
| |
super boomy rubbish production
| |
Pretty underwhelming tbh. John sounds a little more beastly than usual though.
| |
Drum production is fuckin plastic as shit but this riffs
| |
Back to the Eternal Return sound I see. I dig it.
| |
this sounds nothing like anything from Eternal Return lmao
song slaps though
| |
I'm getting The Human Romance vibes with S/T production personally
| |
Hope they have a couple beaters like Knife in a Safe Room on this. Song slaps hardcore.
| |
Solid tune, solid band. Was loving the direction they took on Godless Prophets. Hope they have more of that in the tank.
| |
I'm getting The Human Romance vibes
Oops that’s what I meant!
| |
Intro sounds like Amon Amarth from Deceiver of the Gods album. Otherwise dope.
| |
after godless, I just want savagery from DH. Slays like usual. Wish John and the crew the best.
| |
Always happy to get new music from these guys, this does feel very back to basics for them though. Not nearly as inspired as most of the stuff on their last album.
| |
pretty solid tune
| |
Sounds like classic DH, I am diggin it
| |
This kinda sounds like War of Ages. Solid track
That art is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
| |
As long as they never dip as low as they were musically on self/titled I'm content with the band. The wait was long though.
| |
great song tbh
| |
Kinda disappointing that we got an interesting and different album like Godless so late in their career, just for them to go right back to what they were already doing. Also those drums are mixed terribly. Who knows though, maybe they'll have a mixture of styles on this one.
| |
sounds like Darkest Hour alright
| |
Overall this slaps and the vocals sound really amazing on this too
| |
john henry might be the most underrated vocalist of all time.
| |
This is the best they’ve sounded on a melodeath style song in probably 15 years tbh though. Last record had some cool thrashier more metalcore cuts but nothing that really screamed “darkest hour in their prime” to me.
| |
As above ^ I always preferred the melodeath to the thrashy DH. Song is pretty good.
| |
That tracklist looks phenomenal.
| |
"John henry might be the most underrated vocalist of all time."
Hmm, i get it.
| |
Really excellent album cover! Song’s pretty good too
| |
Single got me hype for this album. I think I’m one of the very few who really dug the self-titled record cause I didn’t vibe with Godless album as much. This sounds like something off of Human Romance.
| |
Definitely has Human Romance vibes. Not anywhere near my favorite album from them, but still good stuff. I do agree that it's a bit weird to hear this style come back after how different the last release was.
| |
"John henry might be the most underrated vocalist of all time."
Well no matter what he definitely sounds just as good now as he did back then
| |
Hugely underrated, yeah. He has such an expressive and distinct voice. He's always been one of my favorites, and he somehow seems to sound more beefy with every release.
| |
Not a fan of the drums sounding buried. Cymbal volume levels too low.
| |
lets fucking go
| |
The drums sound buried?? Bro, that snare is loud as shit lol.
| |
You’re right. Lol. Maybe it was the speakers I was originally listening on. And to that point, I’m not hating the sound of the mix after further listens.
| |
This does nothing for me. It’s not bad just meh and totally forgettable. Riffs are tasty as usual though.
| |
Great track. Couldn’t get on with the last album (maybe didn’t give it a chance) but everything before is consistent. Definitely prefer the more melodic metalcore albums, the Eternal Return, the Human Romance, Self Titled, but this track sounds like a great balance. Just listened to all the singles and his vocals definitely sound beefier! They definitely don’t get enough credit!
| |
Yeah, John Henry is a fantastic vocalist for sure. He's got a very unique voice as well.
| |
not the biggest fan of the chorus, but the verses are sick
| |
"It’s not bad just meh and totally forgettable. Riffs are tasty as usual though."
These two sentences seem at odds.
| |
^ I thought the same thing lol
