Butch Walker Loses All In Fire
2007-11-27 by Dave de Sylvia STAFF | 30 Replies | 1901 Views

As has been widely reported over the weekend, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea lost one of his houses in the wildfires which have raged across Malibu, Los Angeles. In a tragic turn of events, singer/songwriter Butch Walker had been renting the house and had just finished moving his family and possessions into the property. He's lost everything, including family heirlooms, cars, recording equipment and the master to every song he's produced in his twenty-year career.

His publicist has released the following statement: "On November 24th a family friend was forced to evacuate the singer, songwriter and producer's Malibu home, which was being rented from Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Flea, due to the rapidly spreading fire. Walker was in New York City at the time on tour.

Says Walker "I had just consolidated my entire recording studio and house from Atlanta into the one house In Malibu. I lost everything I've ever owned. Every master of every song I've ever recorded, every piece of recording equipment, guitars, drums and things I've collected over the years, cars, motorcycles, every family memorial, heirloom, picture, and document we ever had.... Gone. I feel like I finally know the difference between 'going back' and 'going home'."

Please spare a thought for the Walkers at this difficult time.

I'm just confused on how all of these news articles are always talking about how Flea lost "one of his houses"...

It's quite simple really. Flea owns a bunch of houses.

I have madluv for Butch, what a tragedy. He has such great talent and has done so much for himself.. a lot of the things he's lost can never be replaced.. he's just so genuine and I hate that this had to happen to him.

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea lost one of his houses in the wildfires

This reminds me of that South Park episode where the boys get toured around celebrities houses by the FBI after they are caught downloading music.
"Do you know what happens when you download music? Lets look at Lars Ulrichs house."
"You see, Lars wanted 3 gold encased shark aquariums next to his pool. Now that people have been stealing music from him, he can only afford one gold encased shark aquarium next to his pool".
Anyways, sad news for these people who lost homes.

Those wildfires are dicks. And I noticed that in the statement it states that Flea is the guitarist for the Chili Peppers?

Does insurance cover wildfires? Regardless, I feel bad for all the sentimentality thrown away.

Wow. That's awful.

Probably not a good idea to keep all your masters in your house, in hindsight.

while, of coarse, i feel pity for musicians like butch walker, i feel NO pity for musicians like Flea and other celebrities who are rich as F*CK that are loosing houses in California.

no because i could care less if most of these celebrities lose one of their 5 houses. oh, and it also sucks that they have to lose two of their fifteen 100,000$ cars. BOO-fu*king-HOO.
like i said, i do feel pity for artists like butch though, that don't have much money and losses like this are career enders

He's still a millionaire. It's the fact he's lost all he's lost so much personal stuff and his music that's the tragedy, not to mention the security of having a safe home.

Those houses and cars are still houses and cars that were bought with money he earned.

Have you taken your medication today? Nobody deserves to have their home destroyed, no matter how much money they have or if they have other houses.
