Last time he came back, it produced Californication, By the Way (favorite RHCP) and Stadium Arcadium (fuck you, I like it) so it’ll be interesting to see if they can capture that magic again. Because I’m With You and The Getaway we’re both pretty boring.

Yeah. Band has always been mediocre to awful, no matter who the guitarist is. Sad thing is Frusciante's solo stuff is usually pretty stellar.

RHCP have been my favorite band for nearly 15 years now, no shame. Never understood the amount of hate they get.

I'm following the band no matter who the guitarist is. I love John but Josh was a suitable member and will be missed. Excited to hear what comes next.

i prefer these guys as funk rock loopers who hardly change chord to them trying to write pop songs. under the bridge and can't stop are pretty good but they've got entire albums of pop-rock boringness i can just skip without issue

Divorce is a bitch. Evidently his $ well was beginning to run dry. I have zero expectations, given the fact RHCP stopped being interesting since the "Californication" (IMO their first 'meh' album, never really liked it while I've always found "One Hot Minute" criminally underrated) era. Frusciante or not Frusciante, which I love anyway (his solo stuff been way more interesting than everything he put out under the Chili Peppers' monicker) I think these dudes are 15 years or something late with retirement. No offence.
