Santana collapses on stage

2022-07-06 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 20 Comments
Legendary 74-year-old guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed on stage while performing in Michigan last Tuesday (July 5th). Santana was immediately assisted by medical staff on the scene and transported to the hospital. A few hours after being admitted to McLaren Clarkston's emergency department, the guitarist used his official Facebook page to explain that he had forgotten to eat and drink water, resulting in dehydration that caused him to pass out.

"to one and all
thank you for your precious prayers
Cindy and I we are good just taking it easy
forgot to eat and drink water
so i dehydrated and passed out
blessings and miracles to you all"

Sputnikmusic wishes the iconic guitarist a speedy recovery.

Glad it doesn't seem serious, playing onstage at 74 is no joke

This isn't the first time he has overworked himself and neglected his safety. Carlos is an infamous workaholic.

Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Glad he's ok

Hope that something like this doesn't happen again. I'd prefer for him to retire rather than die earlier because of live performances

True legend and one of the best guitarists ever

Management firms really need to stop squeezing money from legacy artists, and let them retire with dignity.

hope it's nothing more serious, not only is he an awesome musician (him and his bands early stuff/first few records are timeless classics) but he's also a really nice guy, there's a video out there of him tracking down one of his old band members who fell on bad luck, the guy was like homeless, and santana hugs him and said he was going to help him out, and apparently he did help him get back on his feet. you could probably find the video easily online if anyone is interesting.

Was hoping this was one of those clickbait titles and it would be about Juelz Santana or something but glad to hear the man is okay, I will never be convinced his Woodstock performance isn't the greatest live guitar performance ever.
