I dug Metanoia a fair bit more than Aathma or Spiritual Migration, so perhaps this band is returning to form. Tentative excitement brewing.
|
| |
assma and especially spiritual migration are their worst albums, so it makes perfect sense, demon
|
| |
Whats wrong with Aathma? o_o
|
| |
Damn this came out of nowhere
Instruments sounds better than Metanoia which is a huge relief but I'm not vibing with the new vocalist... so far. I'll give him some time to get used to. Guess I'm so used to Marc Martins that it just feels kinda odd to hear a new voice.
|
| |
i unveil my dislike for this band
|
| |
Surprised pikachu face
|
| |
Not surprising tbh
Will check after class.
|
| |
Did not see this coming at all, glad these dudes are staying active. Weird to not wait 4+ years for new stuff though lol I'm accustomed to the schedule.
Ditto Kus, new vocalist is awesome in their own right, but hearing Persefone without Marc... kinda hurts honestly. Grew up with him being THE voice of all things Persefone and it's really setting in that he's gone :^(
Solid song all told.
|
| |
Nevermind, 'solid' undersells this. Song is excellent.
|
| |
Yeah this song is pretty good and already better than anything from Metanoia... guess I'm somewhat hyped for them again lol. They are a rollercoaster of a band for sure.
"A sound where every instrument, word, note, hit, had its place avoiding meaningless passages or transitions" sounds like Carlos is aware of how much of a mess Metanoia was? Lol
|
| |
Nah if Persefone announced every transition and became as linear as possible, they'd still have a chorus of people up in arms up "muh consistency"
The reception to Metanoia being case in point lol
|
| |
Seems like a fairly solid song. The new vocalist will take some getting used to I feel.
|
| |
New vocalist is strong but pretty different, I do appreciate the more pitched screams he's bringing to the table and while I definitely grew to appreciate the old cleans they're very on the Yarly side for me so maybe we could get some fresher cleans if he does them at all, but I miss Marc's wild staccato attack w/ spicy rhythms on the harsh vox, it was definitely a very Persefone specific vibe that it brought to their sound that is now missing.
Song itself is fine, I'll prob enjoy new shit as much as most of Metanoia which I enjoy just fine but to me SM and Aathma are their best and most unique records, but I'm a fan of long form shit and not in the he-man prog haters club so many sput folk champion.
|
| |
this is pretty fun
looking forward to what they have next
|
| |
hot take: new vocalist rules.
|
| |
Not a hot take for me, dude does a fantastic job!
Me feeling weird is entirely a personal thing, because it's strange as a longtime fan to not hear Marc lay down his trademark vox. Like, in the context of the Truth remaster, Marc was the voice of the band. Now he's gone and it's like, damn...
High hopes for the future though! I will never doubt these cats.
|
| |
oh thank god
|
| |
Word
|
| |
Powerful stuff here i keep thinking of one word, still dreaming so i can tell it. GOJIRA vibes fit them perfectly.
|
| |
Gojira????????
|
| |
Yeah I really don't hear Gojira at all in this.
|
| |
This is pretty dope! I wanna hear the rest
|
| |
Song and new singer are great.
Gojira vibes maybe from the vocals?
|
| |
New vocalist is def not bad at all, curious to see what his range will really be on the rest of the EP
|
| |
'A sound where every instrument, word, note, hit, had its place avoiding meaningless passages or transitions" sounds like Carlos is aware of how much of a mess Metanoia was?'
It sounds more like a reflective stance on their past generally and could just as easily apply to their other material (just because Metanoia was the most recent album, doesn't mean it's a direct ref). Personally this criticism could easily be true of Spiritual Migration, more so than Metanoia.
|
| |
Also really hoping the Gojira thing is misplaced, lol (making me impatient / I want to check simply to allay such fears)
|
| |
Spiritual Migration and Aathma are their worst albums? More like their best albums!
|
| |
Absolutely no Gojira in this, Demon, don't worry lol. Very out of left-field comparison.
|
| |
Band lost me at Metanoia unfortunately, just not suiting my taste anymore. Nothing about the songwriting of this captivates me, feels so disjointed and the chorus is painfully weak. Aathma and Spiritual Migration easily their peak. New vocalist is a great replacement though, fits like a glove.
|
| |
I really don't know what they'll have to do to make their songwriting click for some folks, it's as compact as its always been.
|
| |
On further listens I kinda agree with Tundra, this is decent and a little better than Metanoia but still nothing I'll come back to. It just doesn't do anything special compared to their other material. And the new vocalist actually sounds a bit like the Gojira guy at times (I now see the comparison) which is very distracting, when he like mixes harsh with clean style. You realize how good of a vocalist Marc Martins was now. Still a slight step-up so I hope the rest of the songs are better.

Cursed thread
Gonna go be happy by myself pt. 2
|
| |
Band has yet to have a bad release
|
| |
And then Mars 2.9'd it
|
| |
Kind rating in all honesty
|
| |
It doesn't happen often, but I am occasionally wrong, as outrageous as that is
