| Children of Bodom Follow the Reaper They continued to refine and tighten their songwriting on this coming from Hatebreeder but these two albums are quite similar. I feel like they toned down the folk and power metal elements a tad on this and went more into a metallic sound. Liking this about as much as Hatebreeder, currently not vibing with their style quite enough to give this a 4.5 but I get the feeling the next two albums might become my favorite, knock on wood. | 4.0 05.07.24 | | Children of Bodom Hatebreeder massive improvement in songwriting from their debut, shits anthemic. | 4.0 05.05.24 | | Children of Bodom Something Wild Folky powermetally silliness with some classical influences sprinkled in aka average suomicore. Not that much to like for me on here, sadly. | 2.5 05.02.24 | | Decapitated Winds of Creation this is a great and fun album and the technicality and songwriting are extremely impressive for such a young band but i somehow don't feel a 4.5 for this today. | 4.0 04.30.24 | | Alien Ant Farm ~mAntras~ Lyrics aren't great but otherwise this entire thing rules, gives the latest Deftones album a run for its money. What Am I Doing and especially Prosperous Futures are absolutely fantastic songs. Fuckin' A! | 4.0 04.28.24 | | Disbelief Killing Karma Y'all are missing out if you don't jam this right the fuck now. Disbelief until now has been an admire-from-afar kinda deal for me because their music often felt too dense to fully dive into. However, on this album they have reached a level of songwriting that completely blindsided me. They always had a great groove element to their music like channeling Bolt Thrower, but an atmospheric identity completely their own in the death metal scene. I'd describe it as a lovechild of Neurosis and Behemoth, very captivating, thicc atmosphere you can meditate to. Riffs hard af. Album could've been trimmed down a tad but the songs that are here are all f | 4.5 04.28.24 | | Darkthrone It Beckons Us All Some good riffs on here, last track is probably my favorite, bunch of cool sections in that one. Overall fairly slow and dare i say boring. | 3.0 04.28.24 |
