Foo Fighters
One on One

One By One is the fourth album from The Foo Fighters. It was recorded 6-18 of May in 2002 and features Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. To a lot of people, this was when the band went downhill and to some people, this is when the band got better but whatever they say, it is still pretty average. I don’t think anyone has reviewed this, so sit back and enjoy the review :thumb: :

Notable Tracks:

All My Life – 4:23
This was the first single from the album. Starts off with a lot of palm-muting and then bursts into a more heavier Foo Fighter song. Some people find this song annoying as it’s different from most Foo songs. I don’t know what to say, it’s just a straight-forward rock song, it’s catchy, it has different tempos, a catchy hook ect. My favourite bit in the song is when Dave Grohl shouts “Done! Done! On to the next one!”
5/5

Have It All – 4:57
This is, to put it, a typical Foo Fighter song, the song’s ok. Some of the guitar riffs are quite good and the guitar has quite a nice tone. Typical Verse Chorus Verse Chorus song and quite repetitive. Was the fourth single if I’m not mistaken. It sounds like a single anyway. There is no change of speed, the song just lumps together.
3/5

Tired Of You – 5:11
The so-called “ballad” of the album, the chords are nicked from Nirvana’s “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle” Shame on you Dave, doing that to Kurt for your own musical needs! It is slow for the whole song and during the chorus is some weeping guitar. Quite boring but nice to fall asleep to. Dave’s voice sound too doubled in the song to like.
3.5/5

Lonely As You – 4:36
Starts off like it’s another ballad but it’s not, the drums come in and Dave’s voice is doubled with some palm-muting. The Chorus sounds really cool but the verses are boring. It has some short of guitar solo, even though it’s only 5 notes. At the end of the song, Dave screams the chorus like in All My Life. I like this song, it remembers me of The Colour And The Shape. It’s a hard-rocking tune it is.
4/5

Verdict:
Ok, this might seem harsh but it just sounds like Dave Grohl is just taking a claw to fame but making mediocre music which would get a whole lot of media hype. The flame is out for Foo Fighters but I have faith since people say that the new album is good, so if your wanting to buy a Foos album, but The Colour And The Shape or Self-titled cause that is fresh and sounds like it is in the nineties. Dave Grohl’s voice on this album sounds so doubled, it’s so annoying and overproduced. It’s average stuff to say at least. This band wouldn't have got anywhere if Dave hadn't been in Nirvana. If Kurt never died, we would have had top-notch Nirvana albums instead of this. So try and avoid this and stay above the media hype this album was portrayed in.

Pros
Guitar work is good
Drumming is good also
Bass is good
Instruments are good (obviously^)

Cons
Overproduced
Average stuff
Dave’s voice is doubled too often
Am I the only one who thinks Disenchanted Lullaby is a bit annoying

3/5

Good review

Everything the Foo Fighters has produced is average, or a little above. Not by much, though.

Nice review. This is the least enjoyable Foo Fighters album. They have scrapped a full album to come out with this one, because they thought the first one was.. well, "too perfect" in production. My favourite song on this would be Halo, or Have It All

I thought this album was pretty good but Dave admitted that he hates it. he said he likes 4 songs but the other 7 are just filler. I like about 7 songs and think 4 songs are below average but whatever. btw, did anyone else see the low video? it got banned. i can only wonder why.

If Kurt hadnt died, he would have gone on to make a dozen SHIT albums and people would have realised what an overhyped wanker he really was
May he rest in peace
Dave Grohl has a fantastic voice...

It's not his fault everyone decided to try and emulate Nirvana.

I have that video on a DVD (my uncle bought it because I said I liked Nirvana).

It was so funny. I was crying/laughing watching it.

The album wasn't too great. A couple good songs but just meh...

The albums pretty average.not to great, but still has some good songs. One by one is still my favorite Foo Fighters song. I also liked overdrive, but otherwise good review.

Thank god for the day Nirvana ended, Dave Grohl is clearly a better front man than Kurtis Cobain. This album may be naff but it's a definate improvement than anything by Nirvana.

PS I recommend Foo Fighters to anyone it's a superb album

Please....either do a track-by-track or don't.

Horrible album...I have it, and I can't listen past the fifth song.

Why the hell does everyone feel the need to bash Nirvana? I know I'm exaggerating, but it seems that way. Nirvana is a good band, and IMO without Nirvana, I don't think FF would be around because DG was in Nirvana and that gave him, in a sense, the push in the door to get the demo off the ground.

I agree that this wasn't the greatest FF album, but I also believe it wasn't a complete disappointment.

I agree there......The Colour and The Shape was amazing....and I haven't heard any "Foo Fighters" or any other than TC&TS, OBO, and IYH, but I will agree with you. I think I liked about half of the album....the rest was mediocrity.

i think that when you listen to it if there is a bad song the album regains its dignity with a good song afterwards
