this is the second black metal cd i bought so far. the production isnt that bad, so if your new to black metal, it'll be no probelem this is darkthrone's second cd, and the first one in style of black metal. the total time of the cd is 42 minutes, and it comes(well at least the version i got) with a great interview with fenriz and nocturna culta.
Kathaarian Life Code - after an autmospherical intro that does a good job at setting up the mood for the cd, it launches staight into blast-beats. The longest song on the cd, 10 minutes, it takes you through numerous temp/mood changes, never allowing you to be bored.
In the Shadow of the Horns - a slower song, at the end of which you are treated to a aucoustic part played over a fast blast-beat, which makes for an intresting combination, possibly my favorite part of the cd.
Paragon Belial - this track is stuffed full of great melodic riffs and a few good solos. overall a really well written song.
Where Cold Winds Blow - fast, agressive as hell and to the point. has a nice break down.
A Blaze In the Northern Sky - the shortest song on the cd. well written, comes together very well, both fast and slow.
The Pagan Winter - good melody, alot of tempo/mood change. great finishing track to a flawless cd.
overall this is a great cd that wont let you get bored. 5/5.
