Testament – The New Order

The Line Up
Chuck Billy – vocals
Eric Peterson – rythm guitar
Alex Skolnick – lead guitar
Grag Christian – bass
Louie Clemente – drums

Eerie Inhabitants
The song starts of with a spooky kind of sound and then the acustic guitar starts and along comes a solo. Finaly the rest of the band kicks in and Chuck is the last person to start. The song is moderatly fast and it has a heavy riff. Everything is tight and Chucks vocals is alittle ¨darker¨ compered to their first album ¨The Legacy¨. A good song to kick of the album. 4/5

The New Order
Starts of with a heavy slow riff along with a fast guitarsolo. The riff is heavy but not as fast as in Eerie Inhabitants, the solo is good but not perfect. The song is lyricly about the world which is changing to a new order. There is something apocalyptical theme in this song.
But still a powerful song. 5/5

Trial by Fire
This song starts with as slow guitar and bass which is later turned into a faster pase. Here you can hear some really cruel and dark basslines from Greg, the rest of the band is playing along thigt. The song is lowing the pase when the guitarsolo starts. The song is about a person that is about to pass a trial, but more like a trial like if it was in ****. 5/5

Into the Pit
This song is one of the thrashiest from the album. The verse has some heavy classic riffs and typical drumming which typical for thrash metal. But it is not a great song though. 3/5

Hypnosis
This song is instrumental. Starts with weather effects that sounds like rain and thunder. A solo is played from start to end along with a acustic guitar in the background. 3/5

Disciples of the Watch
Has almost the same beginning like Trial by Fire. Here is more classic heavy riffs of Testament and has almost the same structure as The New Order. The verse reminds of the verse of Into The Pit. The song is about a kind of leader which is teaching his stundents.
A strong and heavy song. 5/5

The Preacher
¨The Preacher!!!¨ This song is the fastest song of this album. Not much to write about this song but again the intrumental part is good and the solo is good. The ending is perfect when the starting riff comes along with the main shreading riff. 4/5

Nobody’s Fault
This is a cover from Aerosmith. Testament has made a very good cover of this song but Chuck’s vocals is yell in this song. 3.5/5

A Day Of Reckoning
A semi-fast song with same style of riffs like the other songs. There is not so much write about this song. 4/5

Musical Death (A Dirge)
This ending song is instrumental but its longer than Hypnosis, but in this song the whole band is playing. The track is played in a slow pase and it sounds tradgic in a way. Not a great track but not a bad track as well. 4/5

This album has a gothic, ocult sound to it which makes it to sound like heavy metal and not thrash metal, but the mix of ¨darkness¨ and thrash makes a great combination. This album is heavier the The Legacy and Chuck’s vocals is slightly low which fits the songs. This is one of Testaments biggest accomplishments and is worth buying!. I will give it 4.5/5

"Into the pit" is one of the album's highlights, in my opinion. I have this on vinyl and pulled it out today, and I love the album more than i ever had, one of testament's best.

Good stuff, but a little overrated.

Eerie Inhabitants is the best song on here, IMO.
