Review Summary: Just concentrate on doing crunching motions, and leave this album in the used bargain bin
Oh man, an Arnold Schwarzenegger music album. If the thought of one of the greatest action heroes of our time singing is making you salivate, I am sorry to disappoint as this is more a compilation of some of the best get up and go 80's music there is. The only difference between this and any other 80's hits collection however, is that Arnold talks over them. Thats right, The Austrian Oak is here to motivate you into his incredible workout routine over his own personal selection of songs.
If this sounds like a terrible idea, thats because it is. Gladys Knight & The Pips. Tommy Tutone. ***ing
Journey. Could the selection of music get worse? Probably, but that doesn't detract from the fact that is a damn cheesy collection of music. Perfect for a session in an 80's Los Angeles gym maybe, the icing on the cake here however is Arnold's "instructions" he issues over these motivational get your ass up and moving tracks which are absolutely hilarious.
Arnold is probably best known for his awful command of the english language, his accent. Well, back in 1982 he wasn't much more articulate and this is perhaps the only draw here. His throaty issuing of "14. Up, 15, Up, More energy, Up, and think about those wonderful firm thighs you are going to get." over cult 80's tunes is quite an experience. The ENTIRE ALBUM is like that. I can't quite get this across to you.
There is no wonder
Total Body Workout is buried in obscurity, it sucks. Arnold fans may rejoice in hearing him barking exercise commands in his thick accent over 80's pop tunes, but its more of a headache really. Avoid at all costs.
