Review Summary: An Album for an eternal springtime or the coldest of winters, sat in front of a warm fire, with your favorite blanket and a steaming cup of hot chocolate.

Norah's First Album 'Come Away with Me' is what i think, an emotional Roller coaster, where at time's you will be at the top, full of joy and happiness, but after the incline, comes the decline, and the next thing you know your joy is replaced with a warm sadness, and your happiness becomes a longing.

From the very first song 'Don't know why' is where the ride begins. With the soothing piano and guitar to almost sooth you into a daydream like sleep, where you see Norah sat next to you singing you this beautiful lullaby. The only real part of the song where the dynamics rise is the chorus, where Norah has to sing louder to reach those higher notes, and a couple of backup singers come in, in a harmonized 'hum' But all this just makes the song that much more beautiful.

Slowly over the next couple of songs, the Roller coaster inclines, but not enough to the point where you want to jump out of your seat a scream for joy, but it reaches a point where you are so content with your life, that you don't care what happens, you just know that you will be happy.

And by the time we get to 'Come away with me'. Her voice (as in all the other songs) fits so perfectly with the piano. The simple brush on a snare and symbols in the background flows with the double bass, so that they both are heard, but are almost one in the background. Her lyrics in this song, 'Come away with me in the night, Come away with me, and I will write you a song' make you just want to find the writer, and run away as she is asking you to do.

Something i have noticed throughout this album is that the guitar whether acoustic or electric just flows so neatly, and smoothly with the piano. They both capture the exact feeling of what the voice is portraying.

Throughout the rest of the Album, the style of song's go from Lullaby to Soul to folk, and throughout this whole time, she has still kept a jazz style in each song. As a great musician as she is, she is also a great lyricist. As her voice and her music grips you, her lyrics will grip you even more, and just leave you longing for more.

All in all by the time 'Nearness of you' finishes you are left (like i said just before) longing for more. And she will meet your longing in her next 3 albums!

for a first, this isn't too bad. your summary is spot-on and i agree with your points, especially the smooth sync between guitars and piano

my only complaint was the end; it plays out more like "stay tuned for scenes from the next episode!"

which is bad
