Review Summary: Any Hip-Hop fans or old-school Eminem fans that are wanting old Eminem back should check out this album. Do I really have to talk about his history? Like almost every rapper, Hopsin had a hard life as a kid and throughout his teenage years. He had a hard time making friends when he was young, in school his teachers wouldn’t help him and he was forced to take special education classes and he was struggling with money while dealing with all of that. Struggling to make money, Hopsin, or Marcus Hopson decided audition for acting roles because of his fun personality. After many auditions, Hopsin acquired a very small role on the tv show “That’s So Raven”. After that, Hopsin decided to try to become an MC because he found out he had a talent of rhyming words. After a lot of work on his computer, Hopsin made some music and apparently it was good enough to impress a member of NWA, Easy E. Hopsin signed with Easy E’s record label Ruthless Records in 2007. Being signed to a record label that is owned by an MC who is in a Hip-Hop group that made a classic album called “Straight Outta Compton” should impress anyone. Hopsin eventually went on to start his own record label called Funk Volume which as of right now, only consists of Hopsin and fellow rapper, Swizzz. After listening to the song “Am I A Psycho?” on Tech N9ne’s new album “All 6’s and 7’s” I decided to check out Hopsin’s debut album titled “Raw” which was released in November of 2010.
“Raw” is a very suitable titled for the album because that’s what this album is, raw. “Raw” is a great debut album by an up and coming rapper, director, producer and actor. Hopsin puts forth all of his effort and skill to really show what he is made of. In Hopsin’s eyes, he had to make an album like “Raw” to prove to all his haters and people that doubted him that he is legit and can really stand out in the rap game. His lyrics deal with the obvious, his childhood and teenage years. But no one should be complaining. Although his lyrics aren’t anything superb, his lyrics seem so real and true which adds something good to the album. The hooks are very catchy and will have you listening to the songs over and over again. Hopsin puts a lot of emotion into his more emotional songs such as “Nocturnal Rainbows” and “Heather Nicole” and they come out amazingly. He also believes he’s better than other rappers when he’s praising himself in songs like “Trampoline“ and “I Am Raw”. He very openly disses Lil Wayne and his fans that are saying Lil Wayne “spits raw”. He also disses “Waka Flocka Flame”. The beats on the album are nothing spectacular but they’re good enough to keep you entertained.
“Raw” is definitely not an album that is overproduced. It’s an album that gets straight to the point on every song and really packs a punch. For an album that has 16 songs, it goes by pretty fast and leaves you wanting more. Another good thing about Hopsin is that he is similar to old-school Eminem which is always a good thing. Any Hip-Hop fans or old-school Eminem fans that are wanting old Eminem back should check out this album.

I feel like it's to short now that I'm reading it on Sputnik.

I feel like it's to short now that I'm reading it on Sputnik.
I wouldn't worry about the length, it is over 500 words which is perfectly reasonable for here. You could do with a bit of adjustment of the sizing of the review though. The introduction is nearly half the review. So you could either lengthen it, or adjust the dimensions of it a bit.
| | | Never heard of Hopsin. May look into it, good review man
| | | As for other general feedback on your review:
- Instead of referring to him as Hopsin each time, try just using he or him after the first time you
mention him. You say his name 9 times in the introduction alone, and in general you should avoid
repetition of words.
- If you're going to chuck in the artists real name, do it the first time you say their name.
- It is up to you, but try utilising the italics tags for song and album names instead of quotation
marks. To put something in italics just put [i^] and [/i^] before and after the words you want to
italicize respectively, but remove the ^. That is just the style I prefer, though you may prefer to
stick to quotation marks.
- Instead of saying you decided to check out the album based on some song, try and justify to the
reader why the song makes the album worth checking out. Just think of your role as convincing the
reader's why they should check out the album, and why your rating is justified. Here's one way you
could go with the final sentence of the introduction:
"Hopsin's appearance on Tech N9ne's song Am I A Psycho? hints at his skills, but delving
deeper into his latest album reveals the full extent of his raw talent."
- Try to avoid ending a sentence with a word, then beginning the very next sentence with the same
word, as you do at the start of the second paragraph.
- The second paragraph is pretty good, just would be good to see you expand it, add a bit more meat
when describing the album.
But otherwise not bad for a first review. Just keep writing and you'll improve with time.

This is pretty sick. This guy played near me a couple months ago,I should have went and saw him.
| | | Oh man you should have.
| | | Just an fyi, Eazy-E died in 1995 and you make in sound in the review that he caught Eazy's attention.
| | | Yeah I guess I did, huh. Sorry about that.
| | | How come nobody told me about this album?

Hopsin releases these IllMindOfHopsin videos on youtube every so often. He released a new one today, in it he dissed Tyler, The Creator.Other than that, it was a great vid.

I hate to be this guy, but this isn't his debut album. His first album was released on Ruthless, and it was called Gazing at the Moonlight. Raw was released on Hopsin's own label, Funk Volume, after he left Ruthless because Eazy E's wife wasn't giving Hop the money he was promised.

| | | Unfortunately there's a bunch of incorrect information in the introduction paragraph. Eazy E died in
1995, and Hopsins debut album was Gazing at the Moonlight.
