Review Summary: From what started out as a top album of 2011 ended up being quite of a disappointment.

This is Techs twelfth album in his career. And all throughout Tech’s career, he’s preached that he will never go mainstream. The quote that he actually says is “Tech will never go mainstream, mainstream will go Tech.” This album is the closest thing to mainstream that Tech has done so far. And because of that he has taken a lot of heat from it. He’s probably lost quite a few of his fans that liked him when he was just underground. But at the same time he’s most likely gained more fans for being mainstream because he’s being heard more. I like some mainstream rap, so this being mainstream didn’t make me flinch away from it or anything. After listening to the album I had mixed feelings about his decision to go mainstream.

I think of this album should be in 3 parts. The beginning tracks, which contains more hardcore rap, like Tech is known for and is in my opinion, the best section of the album. It contains great songs such as “Am I A Psycho?” which has a guest appearance from Hopsin and B.o.B and both rappers are good on the song. The song “Worldwide Choppers” which is about speed rapping and has 9 of the fastest rappers in rap such as Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes and more. “Worldwide Choppers” is definitely one of the fastest rap songs I’ve heard. And its around 5 minutes long but it seems a lot longer. And the beginning also has the songs “Technician” which has a dubstep beat and “He’s a Mental Giant” which are both very good songs. The beginning tracks all have very intricate word play. Tech really shows off his song writing capabilities. Tech N9ne has also improved greatly on his hooks.

Then the middle section which is by far the worst section for me. It has the songs “*** Food” which has Lil Wayne and T- Pain. For me, this is the worst song on the album. T- Pains voice just irritates me and Lil Wayne slows down the song in his verse and after every line he says yeah and does his annoying laugh that he does. The song “Overtime” is also another song that could be playing on a radio station near you. The same thing goes with the song “Pornographic”.

The middle section of the album contains most of the mainstream songs and these songs are nothing special. The last part of the album brings it back up a bit. The track “So Lonely” is a decent track. It could have been so much better. Eminem was scheduled to be a guest appearance on the song but something happened and he couldn’t do it. It would have been pretty sweet if Em and Tech had a collab. The song “If I Could” is a really good song. It has a guest appearance from Chino Moreno who is the lead singer of the band Deftones. The songs beat comes from a guitar. Chinos voice goes along great with the song. Another good song is the song “Love Me Tomorrow” is a much needed song. In the song, Tech explains why he decided to turn to mainstream. The song “Mama New” is highly Tupac influenced. Tech really doesn’t do Tupac a favor because the song is very average. I thought of Tupac for pretty much the whole song.

After hearing the amazing first couple songs on the album I was very pleased. But after hearing the rest of the album I was kind of let down. From what started out as a top album of 2011 ended up being quite of a disappointment.

Ah, I see now. Thanks, Psyko.

And wow, I used the word 'mainstream' a lot. Thanks for letting me know, Sowing.

To be truthful it isn't an awful review, especially for your first. Definitely not "well written" though

Focus on varying your sentences and word choice a bit more, and don't say "I think" or blatantly include personal bias in your review. Keep writing, and your reviews will improve. That's how it works for everyone.

Tech N9ne is talented in his speed and rhyme schemes but I haven't actually ever heard him rap about anything. He's like the Seinfeld of hip-hop.

Haha.

on an unrelated to dick-sucking note, B.O.B.'s verse on this is probably one of the best on the album. Hopsin is still kind of a lame Eminem clone attention whore, though.

B.O.B's verse is tight, but even if Hop is an Em clone, you can't hate on his wordplay.

Every OF fan says that.

And every OF hater says the opposite.

Conclusion: OF fans are idiots.
