Review Summary: Buy this for your Grandma.
Relient K is a Christian band from Ohio. The lead singer is Matthew Thiessen, who at the time was a teenager from St. Catharines, Ontario who got musical inspirations from Jesus and he assembled a band filled with three other friends who probably went to the same Bible Reading camp as he did. This music is so clean-cut and harmless that you could probably play it at a nursing home and nobody would get offended. With musical abilities so basic and boring that it makes New Found Glory sound like The Beatles, and a penchant for writing lyrics so vapid and nonsensical that it makes "Muleboy" the vocalist for stoner metal band Bongzilla sound like Shakespeare, this band is the epitome of straight edge living and humorless song writing. Add that to the fact that their signature song is called "My Girlfriend" about Marilyn Manson consuming her against Christ, and you have a better case for atheism. What's next, a song about Eminem or Esham using Ouija boards written by Mr. Theissen? Matthew is not a rebel, nor does it sound like he's a badass at all. At the time, he had a Backstreet Boy mushroom haircut and sang in a nasal voice. Anyway, if you see this album in the bargain bin, don't pick it up, or Christ will consume you.
