Review Summary: This is defintely a very enjoyable record. It shows Justin Timberlake, really matured as an artist. It's melodic, complex, catchy and diversed. It's his best album.. in my opinion. and one of the best albums to come out this year.
3.5/5
The 20/20 Experience is more of a complex album, instead of pop with a spice of r&b on his first 2 albums. The 20/20 Experience puts more of a melodic effect that shows more of a serious side of JT with longer songs and more well structured production.Â*
The 20/20 Experience is a blend of Pop, R&B, Soul and Dance. It really shows on some tracks like Strawberry Bubbelgum which shows the sexy soothing vocals that puts out with nice mellow soulful melodies or in Blue Ocean Floor which more a melodic side that shows that blending those styles fit perfectly with this album. Each song is different, which shows that Justin Timberlake has great diversity in his music. Some songs are upbeats, others are more slow, more soulful that attracts a mature audience.
The strong points on this album is the production, Timbaland really made this crisp and clear to every listener. Especially on how diverse and melodic it is. It really attracts the song to be more well prepared so it would be easier for every listener, but i love how it's not too overproduced. It fits perfectly with the album and the structure of the tracks. Justin Timberlake's vocals have improved drastically in my eyes. He got out of the teen pop voice and developed more of soulful mature soothing voice that fits well with style but he still has that salsa effect that really develops his album to have consistency. The lyrics are very well written, each song has more of an adult theme to it, some sexual, some fantasy and other just great ballad written songs, it shows on a lot of his diversity on his writing. Which really makes it a strong point.Â*
They are no really weak points, maybe except for Mirrors and Suit and Tie, but they are still good songs just really overplayed and they get old after a couple of listens, but people who aren't familiar with Justin Timberlake or the genres. It might fall flat to them, cause of the long tracks and more melodic effect he puts in his music. It's definitely a grower in my opinion. You would get more used to this album and how it is has great form diversity of blending and more complex to a listener.
