Review Summary: A Solid Entry into The Band's Discography That May Not Push Boundaries, but It's Still Enjoyable
For the last couple of months, I have been listening to a band called Nothing But Thieves, an alternative rock band from the UK. What impressed me about this band is that they have remained consistent throughout their career and that Conor Mason is fantastic vocalist. The band released their self-titled debut album back in 2015 and it was a critical and commercial success. Over the next few years, the band released their next two albums, Broken Machine and Moral Panic, along with a handful of EPs, which leads up to Moral Panic II.
This project features a lot of bangers here. Futureproof was released as the lead single of the project and it's an incredible tune. I love the roaring guitars on the track and Mason shines vocally throughout. On this project, the band tackles on themes such revolution, war and even love and they're done very well. One of my favorite tracks of the project is the closing track Your Blood, which starts off very slow and then the drums and guitars kick in near the end and it's astounding. Other songs such as Miracle, Baby and If I Were You are also enjoyable. However, the only song that I found to be the weakest is Ce N'est Rien, which, while I admire what they're trying to do, didn't do much for me and sounded generic to me.
Overall, Moral Panic II is a solid entry into the band's discography and features some great tracks. It may not push boundaries musically, but it still showcases what the band can do and it's still enjoyable.
