Only heard this twice but so far it's my least favorite project from either of them

I felt it was stronger than Spider, lots of texture. Wish the production wasn’t so amateurish

It’s been a couple rough years for yung lean, 2022 saw him experiment with a myriad ambient-y and power electronics textures in a hit-and-miss affair. Whilst consistency hasn’t been the key in Lean’s career, he more than makes up for it by validating his artistic persona, Jonatan - like Sherman, Gud and close collaborators - have a tendency to spiral in and out of substance-addled excursion. This further complicates his validity, when we think “Lean” are we nodding to the early memetic Leandoer who literally “did” lean, or the new self-aware artistic counterpoint… some parallelism may be drawn to rage rapper Yeat, who started off as nothing but a mumble rapper and has evolved into a more mature affair. Psykos is a logical stage for Lean at this point in his career, with a post-punk infused approach which Lifelover did ages ago but makes sense for the Sadboys. Indubitably, there’s highs, there’s lows - but when it’s good we are treated with some of Lean’s most freeflowing material in recent years.
