Appetite for Destruction is the first full-length album from Guns N' Roses. The time this album came out was very imporant due to Glam Rock riding the charts. Appetite brought back hard rock, and it didn't hurt that the band members were all very good with their instruments. From the unique voice of Axl to Slash's blistering solos this was a great album. The focus of the album is the beautifull guitar interplay of Slash and Izzy.

-----Review----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Jungle is the perfect album opener as it showcases what will be occuring throughout the album. Beginning with a memorable intro this is one of the most well-know rock songs ever. The beat just leaves you wanting more while Rose introduces you to L.A./The Jungle with his sleazy vocals.

It's So Easy is my personal favorite song off of Appetite. It begins with a bassline and leads into the explosions of hard rock with Rose's low and later his higher vocals, the lyrics seem to be about how great the rockstar life is until you get bored with it.

Nightrain is a song that this time deals with more rock and roll living; I believe with drinking this time. The song has heavy emphasis on Slash as he is allowed much time to shine. The intro is great as always starting with a cowbell.

Out Ta Get Me is a change lyrically to Roses paranoid view; the police or something else is out to get him. It begins with a great riff and some good drumming form Adler. The rest of the song is great just like all of the songs here. I could never really get into this song, but it is still far better than any rock bands out now.

Mr. Brownstone is another gem this time dealing with drug addiction how it affects your life. I don't know how to explain the intro, but it is unique. This song sounds much like an Aerosmith song, but the chorous is great. "I used to do a little/but the little wouldn't/so the little got more and more/ just kept trying to get a little better/a little better than before" One of my favorites.

The next song is Paradise City a big song that sounds awesome. The chorous is naive then the verses talking about things like urchins under the street. The song starts well with slow, easy guitar and drums then turns into a almost speed metal song except for Rose's singing finally ending with everyone going crazy.

My Michelle sounds like it's going to be a slow, nice song with the clean guitar before it breaks into a heavy story about a troubled teen. Once again the beat is awesome with a punky feel going along well with Axl's screaming vocals.

Think About You is next and in my opinion is better than Sweet Child Of Mine, although bot are extremely good songs. Think about you is complete with a good chorous that relate the girl to drugs. It sounds a little more modern than the other songs, although they all have aged very well.

Sweet Child features one of the most well known riffs in history and innocent heart filled lyrics from Roses, great musicianship , and that magnificent solo from Slash.

You're Crazy starts strong and stays that way although the chorous gets annoying, and the story of a woman messing with Rose is boring. The song features some of the best guitar interplay from Izzy and Slash on the album.

Anything Goes features a great intro but the song fails to keep you interested due to the boring verses and annoying chorous. The beat sounds like any 80's band at the time.

Rocket Queen was a different type of song , but was much better than Anything Goes. The beat is very Aerosmith(groovy) and the beginning was nice enough, but at around 4 minutes the song changes showing a more sensetive side of Axl finally ending with another great solo from Slash.

Still only your second review, but if you're going to review the songs one by one I would recommend adding greater detail to your descriptions.

Judging from the other review would I be better suited just giving an overall review instead?

People tend to like overall reviews much better then track by track. This review was fine though for a first.

It was a nice review for a second one but you should work on an overall format.

Reading this review I can tell you'd be able to pull off an overall quite easily, just focus more on the albums feel/flow as well as teh album itself when you get round to it.
