 | DoofDoof They rarely disappoint, that one got a bit buried at the time for me but should return.
 | BitterJalapenoJr ****ing amazing. I've seen resale tickets on Twickets for Murrayfield - £425 each and it's the misses' 40th the same week so I'm sorely tempted.
 | DoofDoof Yeah, the Glastonbury antics arrived just when I had reached maximum sectarian UK politics fatigue. Absolute bollocks
 | DoofDoof Falmouth Electrics on the new Half Man Half Biscuit keeps creasing me up
 | DoofDoof Think there will be a massive uplift from Ange but he could really do with taking three of the best boys from Brentford across the city to speed up the process.
 | DoofDoof New Young Gods is quality, seem to be on a good late career run.
 | DoofDoof Thomas Frank - right man? I am quite hopeful about this one...probably misplaced :D
 | DoofDoof Bit hard to get a grip on but I think I like it a fair amount. One of those bands I have listened to most albums but would struggle to recall anything from.
 | Futures that really does seem different, i might give that a shot. i should get out of my comfort zone a bit this year. and my morning jacket have some tunes, never dove in though. what album would you recommend to start with?
 | Futures happy you got to experience that! i'm hanging in there. anything really great from 2025 for you i should check out?
 | Futures hope you're well friend. chelsea and spurs champions of europe!
 | DoofDoof I should have dragged people down the pub but just watched with the family, my mum and dad came over! Out tonight so just knew there would be no interest. If I was down the pub watching it would have been really tense but it was still quality celebrating at home. A cup?what a strange season.
 | DoofDoof I think this game will tell us a lot - have we been saving ourselves for the cup or are we just a totally naff side? Check my top 100 contemporary folk artists list ;)
 | DoofDoof Shame it isnt streaming but think you might love this one, experimental folk gubbins: https://rustedrail.bandcamp.com/album/sings-the-passing
 | DoofDoof Under Conte and Jose honestly the managers were stronger than the players leading to problems, but there was an ambition....now there is a team there well ahead of what Ange is pushing. Its a shame but just how it is, he lost the dressing room at least three months ago.
 | DoofDoof Spurs have become a background watch...to preserve my sanity. Statistically the worst Spurs manager in living memory! Dont trust a single player out there, fair weather going through the motions, absolutely zero killer instinct out there.
 | DoofDoof That makes sense, a bit like my grudge against Amnesiac - been listening to a bit of Underworld the last few years but more isolated tunes, not whole albums. Two Months Off from that album is one of my most played in that time so probably elevating my opinion of it ;)
 | DoofDoof Wow, a 2.5 for Hundred days Off...!!
 | DoofDoof The new Real Lies album is quality and pushed me into 5ing an Underworld album...going to make Underworld my band of the month for May, would not be surprised if I 5 another one or at least 4.5 a load of their stuff. I used to think Beaucoup Fish and A Hundred Days Off were about as good as their main two.
 | BitterJalapenoJr I was blasting the first and second albums on Saturday night, so nostalgic. I hope you have the best time. I might try and pick up some on Twickets nearer the time if I can.
 | DoofDoof You have to have a couple of bands you stick to your guns and are a bit irrational about ;)
 | DoofDoof The lyrics in the final third of Fletchers are absolutely brutal - this is THE reality of middle age album of the year, nothing could possibly top it in that particular field!
 | DoofDoof The War on Drugs fella, who also did the new Sam Fender, working with him on this one helps a lot this time. Its the best album Ive heard from him anyway, something about it.
 | DoofDoof Craig Finn first optimistic 5 of the year, lyrics masterclass
 | DoofDoof Have you tried the new Benefits album? It is the blokey version of Kae Tempest who I cant get on with but morbid curiosity made me stick with it. Could be a Zak 1 or a confused 3.5, dunno. Not sure what the Sleaford Mods think of him now, he is from middlesborough so has every right to offload I guess
 | DoofDoof Their best one with a bit more wallop is the 2.5 - this is lower than that.
 | DoofDoof Shedding the lad who would bumble about Billie Eilish and the rest you get to see what was left behind, and without his contemporary waffle and unique bs?you are left with some mild Widdly woo quasi prog and dry as a desert chamber stylings. God awful art project, need to see me after class.
 | DoofDoof Never should have been let out of art school that lot
 | DoofDoof Spurs, what a living nightmare. Poch will come back one day but not yet is my feeling on that one! Scott Parker could be good but never seen his name bandied around by the bookies, might need to haunt Levy?s dreams like Freddy Krueger to get that one to happen. Another Friday another good 2025 album at first pick?the Craig Finn, a concept album and all.
 | DoofDoof If you want one to match the weather this week then the new James Elkington is a stunner.
 | Titan ALWAYS. Killer tune with an even better backstory!
 | Titan Hells yes brother. I?ll be spending my time on their last 4. That?s where you?ll find me haha?
 | Titan Yes bro! I only heard the new one and enjoy it although I will most def have to be in the mood.
 | DoofDoof Sounds like a mash up of not the best Depeche Mode with not the best Marilyn Manson at times. Bit like Primal Scream I have them down as a bit of a fake band...together because they want to be in the music industry rather than really having a style of their own, authenticity or the touch of genius. This lot are a bit less annoying but even more anonymous than Primal Scream though.
 | DoofDoof New Wildhearts has a few tunes in it - Kunce into Maintain Radio Silence is a vintage pairing
 | DoofDoof Second tune on the new Doves with the other lad singing sounds so much like Mansun on Attack of the Grey Lantern?still v good though
 | DoofDoof Never been majorly into Trentmoller, did listen to Great Wide Yonder a fair bit in particular but def more my brothers taste back in the day, will return to that one though.
 | DoofDoof Doves are one of those unfortunate bands I got into mostly through my dad liking them! I only know Kingdom of Rust and the Best Of really well...played the debut about four times this week and that is a great one, surprised me. Think I officially prefer them to Elbow (and goes without saying better than Coldplay).
 | DoofDoof Rushed up a review, had to be done, AOTY so far for me
 | DoofDoof Will try and put a review up for it today, busy until late afternoon but its one of those that calls out to be reviewed.
 | DoofDoof He sounds like those other folk ****ers but this lad is off to war
 | DoofDoof I swear there are at least six absolute belters on there :D
 | DoofDoof New Jim Ghedi? Like a more full blooded Lankum meets King Creosote?
 | DoofDoof Not a bad shout. Any coach with a Plan B, who can react in real time, who prepares his team based on the opposition, who doesnt thrash his defenders to all have hamstring injuries... Yeah I think I am done with Ange :D
 | DoofDoof Ange rides again! No shot on target, useless
 | DoofDoof Fully behind the lads tonight! Can Richarlison finally not be an arse in a big game for Spurs?
 | Gyromania Yo Zak, how?s it goin?? Doof mentioned that you?d be a good person to ask for Dylan recs. I?m doing discog runs every year. Last year?s was Flaming Lips and Everything Everything, and this year I wanted to do Dylan and maybe someone else, not sure who yet tho. But yea, I know Dylan has A LOT of albums and I know not all of them are worth hearing. If I?m doing a discog run, which ones do I just outright avoid? Hard to go by Sputnik ratings because they?ve been way off the mark too often for me
 | DoofDoof theres one with an accordion thats about shooting people in the face - gives good foot tap
 | DoofDoof new Bonnie Prince Billy has some corkers on it, the Nashville backing is a bit OTT on the foot tappers but some of the more typical Oldham songs are among his best
 | DoofDoof theres something a little Robert Wyatt about them I find, bit more of a surreal quality than you first realise, I like them a lot anyway - they have some great older albums too
 | DoofDoof Ok The Smile and Bill Ryder-Jones came out last January - the Tunng is definitely up to that level.
 | DoofDoof The Tunng album has given me hope the quality of last year might continue?not sure anything this good was released last January.
 | DoofDoof Ange is bloody useless! Love it. Relegation battle will be a bit of a lark, esp if we hang on in there in the cups.
 | DoofDoof if last week was a big game then how big is this weekend?
 | DoofDoof 5 points from the last 27! Relegation form. Yeah, the Moyes boys, that is the classic 6 pointer now. Win of bust for Ange.
 | JohnnyoftheWell lol i guess the forums have been kind to them - but for my sins, i discovered them from a K-scope foldout that came with one of my porcupine tree discs
 | JohnnyoftheWell probs have a similar relationship to it that people who got to the Cure at the right age (i was late lol) have to Disintegration, and am well aware of how well one holds up to cold-eyed crit compared to the other... but have gradually accepted that it's part of my journey that stuck around for whatever reason. its grief other portentous subject matter aren't necessarily why, just captures a feeling of gravity amidst slivers of faltering, dying light in a way i've found v enduring floyd solos!
 | JohnnyoftheWell ayo nicely timed, i was going to throw up a revisiting/adding to 5s list in a couple of days. that one's a strange case though - i initially imprinted on it through pure mid-teen cope, but anathema were one of a handful of bands that got opening doors and tuning into different wavelengths (less angst, more gloom i guess). forever love it as a formative record but expected to have outgrown it ages ago, but there's something about the atmosphere on that one that has never let me down since
 | DoofDoof lol I suddenly got the joke, bloody hell I am slow at times - I suspected the fat dog might annoy you but I had to give it a go
 | DoofDoof Still a bit obsessed with the track I Am the King by Fat Dog - sounds like the country feels, yes there is a new king but ?
 | DoofDoof The Brigid Mae Power version of Cass McCombs Angel Blood makes her new covers album worth it
 | DoofDoof I am gonna be a star mum...youll live to see the day!...I am gonna be a star dad...long dead and far away
 | DoofDoof Great lyrics in that one - like HMHB with the right hump!
 | DoofDoof yeah 2025 will probably be sh'te for music but get the feeling it will be good for politics, sneaky feeling ;)
 | DoofDoof Happy new year mate, loving the Big Special rating - they really are like the best bits of Sleaford Mods, Arctic Monkeys and Half Man Half Biscuit smashed together.
 | tommygun So Merry bloody Xmas to you and yours, you're a cracking bloke and I hope you are happy!
 | tommygun Long time no chat me old mucker but I am pissed on Xmas night blasting tunes while the missus and kiddies are fast asleep
 | DoofDoof Give Drop Me Out and Gone Forever from the High Vis a go at full volume soon mate...they have something about them.
 | DoofDoof There is probably some bellendness in there?not as much on the High Vis or Fat Dog who are also on the list even, but a good year for laddish stuff.
 | DoofDoof That involves beating this lot...I hope so.
 | DoofDoof Ange is done, has no answers to any of it
 | DoofDoof The Saint Etienne is good but I keep expecting the Mercury Rev fella to start piping up about patterns at some point
 | DoofDoof Feels like I live in a world of managed decline?Spurs, where I work, the UK itself! The spurs blog I use the bloke absolutely detests Ange and loved Jose and Conte for I think the seriousness they brought to spurs as a proposition. Under those managers we expected top four, were hard done by if we missed top four. Under Ange its more dreaming we get Europe at all, the squad is in massive seemingly terminal decline, Ange happy signing kids. All points to a mid table side at best.
 | DoofDoof Yeah, when we drop to around 15th/16th Levy usually pulls the trigger. Since Ange has got taciturn and defensive in his relationship with the press and fans im not too bothered about him, dont warm to him much. The club should have backed one of Jose or Conte but at least we now realise we will never attract world class player or pay those fees so no point in such managers?so we are looking for a new Poch miracle man. It just isnt/wasnt Ange, like it also wasnt Nuno.
 | DoofDoof That was better than predicted, I had us down to get a 5-1 repeat of the Chelsea vs Saints shellacking. Bloke is out of his depth and because hes a stubborn proud sort he is hard to feel sympathy for at this stage. Levy is even more to blame though and should follow him out the door but wont.
 | DoofDoof Lose by three clear goals vs Chelsea I would hand him his P45, everything after the ten match opening run has been mid table at best. The cups are everything now, if he fluffs the cups he has nothing, he can only be a cup manager because this approach is never getting consistent league finishes.
 | DoofDoof You were right with Bournemouth too...this Ange fella, its not improving, treading water. I doubt Levy could hire anyone too impressive now though, think the whole reputation of the club is tarnished.
 | DoofDoof The Skee Mask album is even better though, need to revisit his older stuff which I also like but tracks like BB Care have this atmosphere to them. Top 20 album of the year...as is the new Fennesz. Think my second favourite to Endless Summer, has the warmth and mystery again, was always waiting for this release before putting up my end of year...I think it might be a top 10 for me.
 | DoofDoof I really rate it, the singers all do the material justice but importantly her writing still gives the whole the same spirit. Dunno, people get excited with trad folk in some guises and not others online - people went crazy over the Irish stuff last year but then will dismiss that album unfairly.
 | DoofDoof You said we would drop points vs Fulham...do you bet? ;D
 | DoofDoof Pep talking about theoretical punishments every interview, seem a bit defeatist right now, dont think they have the right energy to win the league - could be a changing of the guard at the top. We are all over the place but the thing I liked yesterday was the quality of the first three goals, each a peach.
 | DoofDoof You said we would struggle against Ipswich but City might be alright :D
 | DoofDoof The John Callahan one, Don't Worry He Won't Get Far on Foot - yeah I was interested in his album too at that time. I will be honest, I feel I have some knowledge and idea with music but film is just gut reaction and I have a lot of stuff that is guilty pleasure territory. I do not take my taste in film at all seriously lol
 | DoofDoof this is my cream of the crop so far: https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Doofy/stag/2024/1
 | DoofDoof Just revisited Vanishing Point...I tell you what Long Life is a winner and a half. Definitely their best album I would say, couple of other decent ones on there.
 | DoofDoof You have to do an extensive year end list then, no excuse, that is some praise! Think this might be a top ten year for music since years I have been really into it (so since 1991 sort of time). I would still put 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998 above it but this just might be the holy grail...the best year since the 90s.
 | DoofDoof Saw Amyl at Brixton supporting the last album and that was decent, I think I saw them between Prodigy a month before and Turnstile a few weeks after or something like that and they werent on either of those levels but they impressed me. New album is a grower and I dont think people have time for that with the expectations you have with a rock band with a punk edge, you just expect immediacy. I like it a lot, this year top 40 which sounds harsh but it has been a really strong year.
 | DoofDoof I really wanted to but my mate whod usually be up for any rock band doesnt rate them and hes going to see Amyl that night - was sorting this a week before holiday, so tried to get Amyl tickets but hit a dead end and just ****ed it off. Parenthood has been a s***ter for going to too many gigs, the kid goes to school next year so things might get better on that front. Always wanted to see Therapy at a proper gig, only ever watched them at Download and that wasnt a good one.
 | DoofDoof Listening to the Primal Scream again, definitely the left wing blowhard release of the year ! Lyrics cribbed from student toilets? I cringe with this album - white guilt the musical.
 | DoofDoof Fake band through every reinvention, terrible vocalist, the lyrics on this one are very preachy...I like the occasional song. Usually I dont look at a band and think they are at work and doing a job to make money but Primal Scream I cant think of in any other way.
 | Futures man my life ain't in a good place now. and the thing about this cancer is it just keeps coming back until one day they can't do anything. still i am lucky to still be here. and you're right man, it just gets to me. you're a good man zak, love ya.
 | Futures no prob at all man, i consider you a friend. long story short 2015 at 20 diagnosed with thymic carcinoma a super rare cancer like 100 people get a year. chemo/radiation/massive open chest surgery, 2017 small reoccurance, 2019 reoccurance started immunotherapy basically a preventative treatment, last year reoccurance did special proton radiation/chemo at mayo clinic where i lived in another state for 6 weeks. all clear now, still on immunotherapy. 29 now. been a long road man.
 | Futures oh yeah man. been a while. almost 10 years now. been lucky so far, hope it doesn't run out. people here have free reign to mock it though and hope i die from it!
 | DoofDoof Ladys Bridge I enjoy a lot, I would put it behind the other two but that tune and the title track are outstanding plus I respect the more upbeat tracks, might be his most varied.
 | DoofDoof How do you rate, rank and compare those three Hawley albums - Lowedges, Coles Corner and Ladys Bridge?
 | DoofDoof The latest one is good, has a few absolute winners but then some stuff that is more what you would have expected from a late Lanegan album - decent but also a bit standard. Crazily good year for music though, the stuff that doesnt make my top 10 is unbelievable...best Tindersticks album since 2003, first The The album since 2000, etc!
 | DoofDoof The Hawley ratings are going up...three 4.5 scores covering the run from Lowedges to Ladys Bridge. The classic tunes are starting to reveal themselves now...
 | DoofDoof Ange absolutely does my head in, the reluctance to focus on set plays and the late triple subs...but when we hit form it is a joy to watch the attacking play
 | DoofDoof That was a great one yeah, the second goal was my favourite on the season so far, Big Bad Dom needs a bit of confidence. Need some consistency but have Ipswich and Fulham at home coming up, could go on a bit of a run, City away might even be a good time to play them - they look a bit 'the last days of Rome' now, Pep half way out the door
 | DoofDoof One thing I will say is: dont think it quite has enough to actually top Disintegration
 | DoofDoof I had a feeling it was going to be a special one, everything in the lead up, the lead singles, the interviews, the art, the album title...it is the first album in a while where I rated every single song 4.5 out of 5 on my second spin! It is as close to flawless a new album as I have heard in a long while. Just needs the emotional bond to grow now really and it will be my album of the year.
 | DoofDoof You know I watched them play an acoustic set in Kingston recently? Bit of a laugh. Gave the new one a go as someone here said it is the best thing they have done in two decades or something like that, and this year has been a great year for comebacks...this was not one of them. Vocals are almost as processed as Do You Believe Cher
 | Voivod To be brutally honest, this was totally unexpected, and I was stunned by the idleness of the English defensive players in both goals.
 | Voivod Here's to a speedy recovery mate B-P http://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2024/oct/10/england-v-greece-nations-league-live
 | BitterJalapenoJr You reccommend that album to me before along with a few others but the only one I got around to was Sunhouse. I still have them jotted down somewhere on the laptop so will get around to them all soon and report back. Cheers mate.
 | DoofDoof it took at least ten plays, maybe fifteen, but I rate all that album now - just really good for that type of album...I guess it partly killed the band not hitting paydirt but I wont hold that against it. His vocals on stuff like Superslomotion still bring the magic
 | DoofDoof Jubilee the fourth album not Mighty Joe Moon - its a lot more glossy and radio sheen but it still works, I dont mind a bit of an arena sell out if its well done.
 | DoofDoof I will tell you another album that has slowly grown on me, it isnt a 5 but it might end up a 4.5 and my second favourite by the band...it is a total sell out, an arena alt rock album through and through, and it didnt make them a big band. Jubilee by Grant Lee Buffalo - it is one I totally underestimated at first.
 | DoofDoof I will make Hawley my legacy band to check of the month for October - prob only checked that album five or six times, see if it has put any more hooks in.
 | BitterJalapenoJr How's it going Zak? I need your help mate. Can you give me a top-drawer Zak rec of a discog for my list with a max of 8 albums? I will boot off something I'm not feeling.
 | DoofDoof I am cheating but you only have one on a 5 ;) That is a bit of a cheat guess there, without the clue I would never have got there! I do love that album though, currently a 4 but will return to it.
 | DoofDoof Big bad Dom gets a third, happy days this! Now Ten Hag gets the shove and in comes Southgate and all is right with the world
 | DoofDoof That narrows it down a lot but still, real tricky...a real out there pick but the Richard Hawley?
 | DoofDoof you are loving the Peter Gabriel? otherwise...surely not Oasis?
 | DoofDoof Great first half yeah, United squad still a bloated mess it seems - Werner is really poor player who just happens to play at x2 speed, still wish him well but is it ever going to click for the bloke?
 | DoofDoof Hoping the game is a hangover cure today?Spurs usually show too much respect to United at Old Trafford though
 | DoofDoof At first I wasnt impressed at all but slowly coming round to it - similar level (and sometimes sound) to the debut maybe. It is worth a go but be prepared to bin half the songs ;)
 | DoofDoof People saying its almost like a second Simple Pleasure and thats about right, just a steady listen the whole way through leaning more on the soul side of their sound - they can do no wrong !
 | DoofDoof Thinking the new Tindersticks is probably their best since 2003, very consistent.
 | DoofDoof VdV is only on 50k a week! They need to march that man into Levys office and get those golden handcuffs attached...
 | DoofDoof Arsenal were without their midfield and played tight but generally bang average, there for the taking today as were Newcastle last time - defend, go on the break, win set plays, score, then defend again! Thats the recipe to beat us right now, powderpuff typical Spurs really, not sure of all the last five or so managers weve had that this is the bloke to back for five seasons.
 | DoofDoof this Ange fella is doing my nut
 | DoofDoof The Wunderhorse is my surprise hit of the year so far, went back to the debut wundering why I gave that a 3 and that one is a lot more limp than the new one, theyve definitely beefed up that sound, sound tour hardened
 | DoofDoof Ah yeah it is not that great to take priority over a holiday - it is much better than their first one, heavier. The Nick Cave is one of the best of the year so far, lot of people dismissing it too early here.
 | DoofDoof New Wunderhorse album? Best meat and potatoes 90s nostalgia in a while Im thinking
 | Futures i also drink a cuppa tea everyday, i think i'd fit in. my man. absolutely unbelievable scenes. will be monumental. you'll remember it forever. you absolutely deserve it fella.
 | Futures non-league is where it's at. sounds like such a good time. always fun doing a non-league football manager save haha. next time i'll be southend!
 | DoofDoof Nice one, enjoy it, should be quality even if I am not a fully signed up fan myself - I get the appeal 100%. The wife and sister in law went to watch Liam in Knebworth and loved that but obviously this will be ten times that experience. Well, I am dragging the missus to see Matt Johnson/The The at Ally Pally end of September lol, no idea what she will make of that :D
 | Futures what's your team again pal?
 | Futures hey there are some good yanks haha! but i will definitely get over there someday. gotta see chelsea before i die, been a fan for over a decade.
 | Futures the countryside sounds like my kind of place. love a good pub. i like visiting big cities but wouldn't want to live there. where you from anyway if you don't mind me asking?
 | Futures always wanted to get over there sometime man. i know it's just home for you but seems like a great place. you like living there?
 | Futures hell yeah man. always thought it would happen eventually. i gotta see how much a uk trip is gonna run me haha.
 | Pheromone Absolutely. I saw someone online say that this will be an absolute s***show of a reunion involving two absolute pricks who absolutely hate each other playing to a crowd of thousands of the most obnoxious people in the country and I will unfortunately be the first in line for tickets. Truth. Gonna try and get Manchester tickets
 | DoofDoof theyve been releasing soppy new age-y waffle for ages now but they have my loyalty for whatever reason - they are so out of fashion and relevance they do enter underdog territory...
 | DoofDoof yeah, good stuff - hate to admit I actually like the most recent Mercury Rev single of the three they released ! hitting me right in my inner geography teacher now
 | DoofDoof Tarring all these working class lads as far right racists when there is clearly a mix of different people among them I think is a bad strategy, some clearly intolerant and violent...but some clearly neither of those things. Think Labour are done, totally cooked in less than 3 months.
 | DoofDoof Snoop did carry the Olympic torch, if that isnt a mainstream endorsement then I dont know what is lol
 | DoofDoof enjoying life under Labour? it all seems to be kicking off a bit at the moment
 | budgie https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/arab-funding-of-american-universities-donors-recipients-and-impact-may-2024
 | DoofDoof Kane will win a trophy next season, Bayern will grab something
 | DoofDoof Foden looks ready to take over that curse. Agent 007 - nil assists, nil goals, seven appearances...insane when you look at the stats for him this season.
 | DoofDoof four year younger Kane and I think we win last night, bit of bad luck he has run out of gas just as we get a technically sound starting 11 with a bit of star quality in places
 | DoofDoof unbelievable, another final, got the lads coming over to my place tonight to watch - the pubs will be insane but want to guarantee actually being able to watch this game
 | DoofDoof Ok, done - might give a quick listen to their first four albums but I will focus on someone different this month, John Martyn became a bit of a favourite so that is the benchmark.
 | DoofDoof didnt realise that was Crowded House, I knew the song...I had tried to forget it. I also detest Weather With You. I shall persist, there will be gems, I dont give up this easy.
 | DoofDoof Bloody hell mate, the Crowded House debut is bottom of the barrel, makes INXS sound like Motorhead...hope it gets better from here. Please tell me it does, Dont Dream Its Over has to be one of the worst 80s hits of the decade !!
 | fogza Yeah I dared to dream when it was 30 off 30 but you're right, Klaasen out and the whole crumbled. Another choke but I guess it was close
 | fogza Thanks mate, it was a hard game to watch
 | fogza Yeah India wields that cricket board power with impunity
 | fogza Years of watching SA choke in knockout cricket makes me wary of dreaming but who knows
 | fogza Good luck again for the semi!
 | fogza Ah, sounds good, will only be able to catch the second half I'm afraid
 | fogza Good luck in the cricket today, although to be fair you're probably not going to need it against us
 | DoofDoof a spoken word single - 9 times out of 10 a very bad idea
 | DoofDoof they have been a bit useless for a while to be honest
 | DoofDoof New Eels is strangely listenable and consistent...consistently 'pretty good', not overly exciting, which is fair enough. Apparently he had open heart surgery before it, you can sort of hear that, very contemplative. Dunno, a 3 for now but could be a bit better than that :/
 | Butkuiss Aight mate, you got me. I usually like my sci fi a mite harder (Egan, KSR, etc.) but Consider Phlebas was a rollicking ride. I?ll definitely be checking out the rest of the Culture I reckon. Cheers for the rec!
 | DoofDoof Arab Strap is AOTY so far! Opener is incredible, the apocalyptic guitars coming in is the musical moment of the year :D

 | DoofDoof seeing The Wildhearts in Shep Bush Empire tonight...now its really Ginger Wildheart and friends though I think. My mate is still miffed he didnt get to become their new bassist, he knows their sound engineer and it looked like they would be looking for a new one before covid but it never happened, Danny Wildheart soldiered on with one leg for a few years more!
 | DoofDoof haha, that bass line is what I hear in my head whenever I see or read anything about this General Election - its a catchy ominous bass line got to give it that, a bit 'Amnesiac'.
 | DoofDoof My boy is looking old, covid did a number on him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gmwkzk2bPms
 | DoofDoof Strawberry Jam is the best one! Splat
 | DoofDoof New The The single is alright, bit Radiohead?ish
 | DoofDoof The The and Tindersticks have albums out in September :D
 | DoofDoof Yeah, both very strong for late career albums, Hawley sounds a bit like Mark Lanegan at times these days.
 | DoofDoof A Beautiful South album named after a Chelsea FC song...what circle of hell have I entered?
 | DoofDoof Big Ange... just not sure now. Players dont seem convinced to me.
 | DoofDoof It harks back to Ten and Yield in a good way I think, little bit of Backspacer too which was half a good album and half dross but still more engaging than most of the other recent PJ albums. Took me about six full listens but it is no longer homework/a nostalgia listen - a solid rock album and there are few about.
 | DoofDoof I might check the new one...for now genuinely enjoying the new Pearl Jam, found myself listening to it for fun, whatever next. Playing it to death I am.
 | DoofDoof instantly one of their best...{intake of breath}huuuuuuuuuuuughhghhhhh
 | theBoneyKing Check out my latest reviewed album, John Moreland is a real-deal truth-speaker!
 | Futures your music stories are so great. you gotta make a list just reminiscing and telling stories about when you were listening to certain albums. but yeah stone cold classic wish i could wipe t/t and iron man from their cultural impact and listen for the first time. hand of doom might be my fav sabbath song.
 | Futures hell yeah, such a great album. what's your fav sabbath or does it switch up? mine is sabbath bloody sabbath atm.
 | Futures radiohead side projects have never really done it for me but now you've convinced me to give it a shot. i've been mainly jamming black sabbath for the first time, through sabotage now. hell of an experience. better late than never!
 | Futures haha compliment of course. what have you been jamming lately man?
 | Futures zak brother you look exactly like what i imagined in my head and that makes me happy lol
 | BitterJalapenoJr Definitely. I will get around to them all soon and report back. Cheers again mate.
 | BitterJalapenoJr Alright mate? Made a start on those alt recs you gave me a few months back. Started with Sunhouse - Crazy on the Weekend. ****ing amazing on the first listen. One of those albums that genuinely affects you if you get me?
 | Deez well 3 and a half but still , absolutely ridiculous, came back with 75 quid hahah You only live once and all that ol bean x
 | Deez Was absolutely wild as usual mate, bit of a blur tbh. Saw some old mates, Picked up every disease known to man and spent 14 grand in 3 months hahha, can guess I had a ball. Came back 3 weeks ago back to work and to scraping some coins to do it all over again in November : )
 | DoofDoof haha, yeah that covers 90% of it - there might be one good song on that album, need to double check, but the rest is the most forced and affected sounding music I have encountered in ages.
 | DoofDoof I liked the other recent one but that previous one in Zak speak = twaddle
