| parksungjoon yea i was surprised that dreck was more popular ... maybe i hsouldnt have been. gonna check terminus then
| parksungjoon fun fact i think i wasnt even on sput yet when i first heard koan on youtube ^^;
| parksungjoon i try man... but i'll actually do it right now. shout one release to start with
| parksungjoon haha hell yeah brother, absolute classic that one!
| parksungjoon ahhh gotcha. yeah, zapruder's more of a hard 4 for me but for the same reasons. it's surprisingly diverse while also being good at what the proper old school bands used to do
| parksungjoon aaah makes sense. interesting ratings, i remember sick transit being my favourite but i haven't done like a full discog jam in a long time. what did you think of zapruder and pole? :]
| parksungjoon sick ratings brother seems like i've done you proud :]

| Sowing weird I don't see the new mwY on spotify =(
| Aberf daddy, listen to my dig. Thank you.
| parksungjoon hey my awesome dude just noticed you around and thought i'd let you know i dropped a review today on something you might like!
| TalonsOfFire Yea it was through shoutbox, my reply is in your full list of shoutbox messages in the "all posts" link on your profile. I think it was because I reviewed the new Swallow the Sun album Songs of the North that had some funeral doom stuff on it, and I was unfamiliar with the genre.
| TalonsOfFire Hey not sure if you remember a couple years back you rec'd me funeral doom bands and I've been checking them out and enjoying them a lot. Esoteric especially are really great, like the intro of Silence for example is so good. Still getting used to the style and haven't made it through a whole album yet, but I will at some point haha
| Aberf better change your track, fam.
| Aberf phenomenal track fam
| Aberf Daddy, rec me something on my list plz.
| Dewinged Glad you like it man, first half is stronger than the second, but the 2 closing tracks are also amazing. It's really well produced and so tasty on headphones ;) Have a nice bday!
| Sowing Thanks for your rec of "Ode We Will Bury Ourselves" by Moving Mountains - it's incredible and made my top 10 recs. My compliment to you is that I genuinely believe you are one of the most talented writers on the entire site, staff included. If life ever allows you the time and you want to get back into writing more, let me know. I'd love to fast track you back to contrib. Hope all is well!
| Dedes Sweet dude, definitely will check. I've been in love with Nujabes the past couple days.
| Dedes Recs are what I live for.I heard Ruins awhile ago but i've since rerated them since my ratings wipe. Also i'm jamming more Smith Street Band now m/.
| Dedes I'm glad you dig them. They grew on me insanely fast.

| Jom Cheers, we always rely on the contributors to help with the users' year-end list with the blurbs, so I'll get you sorted once that happens or if you get recruited for it by someone else, ha. Thanks!
| Jom No worries dude, it sounds like life has been getting pretty hectic for a lot of folks. If you feel like you'd like to return you really only need to give me another shout. Cheers!
| FullOfSounds Yeah it was very pretty all around, thanks for getting me into it! Hell yeah I'm gonna be busy for awhile, once 2016 calms down I'm prob just gonna focus on that list
| FLCL I'm good, just got back into obsessively listening to music and it feels good
| parksungjoon your lists inspired this: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1034220 - granted it's a lot more concise and scatterbrained than the stuff you make but yeah. hope you find something fresh and cool :D
| Rowan5215 Oceana were good but man Polyenso are something else. Imagine Radiohead instrumentals with Justin Timberlake level hooks if you can! could always use some more indie folk actually I'll get on that
| Rowan5215 ah man the only one of those I've heard is Hammock... whoops. what type of music are Radical Face? I'm gonna be riding the Bon Iver hype train all the way to the station and beyond this year so that's my pick... Frank, Hammock, Polyenso, Glass Animals are all up there though (never thought my list would be so pop-dominated!)
| Rowan5215 definitely not like a Sydney size city haha, it's basically the same size as Orange if you've ever been there. I do like it here though, I'm really not a big city guy but that's where the money is... decisions are haaaaaaaaard. anyway, not to talk about my problems too much... what's your favourite album of the year so far?
| Rowan5215 yeah its a bachelor of communications - basically an arts course disguised as a comm course so we avoid all the arts course stigma! yeah luckily we learn a whole bunch of skills here so HOPEFULLY we can all get comfy jobs in various fields but I don't want to keep my hopes up too much.
| Rowan5215 theatre media. basically a theatre course for people who are scared to do just an acting course because just being an actor really doesn't pay the bills in aus, hence me doing sound design at the moment. it's CSU in Bathurst, in New South Wales. fortunately I don't have to speak at all for this I'm just recording the actors doing their thing which I much prefer!
| Rowan5215 love Devy a lot, Z2 was a bit of a flop but it sounds like a Transcendence was a bit of a return to form. just hanging out for a casualties of cool honestly. I've got one more year left after this one, have no remote idea about how I'm gonna live after it ends but we'll take it day by day I guess. I think I'm done with the radio stuff but I was actually back in the studio today recording voiceovers for the show I'm in, so you can never truly escape I guess
| Rowan5215 Man you'd think so hey but I never had any relationship troubles in high school but I get to uni and bam... guess I could only dodge for so long. I'll have to pop in dub with you sometime it's been ages since I had a really good jam. I know the feeling of being overloaded with work trust me, better than being bored I guess! Keen as hell for that new Devin Townsend I haven't jammed the leak
| ScuroFantasma I understand, glad you're still hanging around. I've been pretty sweet, life's good.
| ScuroFantasma Sup man? Haven't seen you around much lately, how are you doing?
| Greem Hi! https://lifeless4.bandcamp.com/album/mea-culpa Thanks for listening.
| Toondude10 well the new Thrice is in two weeks so there's that
| Toondude10 hehehe, now if there's a way to avoid the Radiohead hype train
| Toondude10 it is an absolute necessity that you listen to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMCsv-zj56s
| Hawks Not yet bro, but it's still on my radar lol.
| Toondude10 found the first Radical Face album in case you're interested https://www.goldenmp3.ru/radical-face/junkyard-chandelier
| klap thing is i won't have that much time this upcoming week so it'd probably fall through the cracks. need to listen to it some more too
| klap hey i see you really liked the new radical face? are you gonna review it? i dibbed it for staff but honestly i sort of hate it relative to the first two (which i loved)
| Hawks Yeah bro I got a lot of recs on that list, but I'll take your word for it and make sure I check those first.
| ExplosiveOranges wrote a review in the proofing thread, pls tell me how s*** it is thx
| Arcade plz help me with proofreding
| beachdude Same to you man! I'll try to read more of your reviews.
| Toondude10 think you can give out some feedback for my review in the proofreading thread when you have time?
| lalchimiste the rec' I spoke to you about last week is streaming in full at I,Voidhanger if you still wanna check it out : http://i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/pangaea
| lalchimiste hey man, you gotta check this out. It's like Spectral Lore/Thantifaxath hybrid going all-in, over-the-top Prog but still keeping the sweet bm riffs and atmosphere. Here's a single : http://www.invisibleoranges.com/ecferus-reciprocity-of-disrepair-premiere/
| Jots you liked Viet Cong right? check this Cindy Lee album; it's from one of the other post-Women members (Viet Cong's lead singer's brother, iirc...)
| ExplosiveOranges if you get a spare moment i've got a review in the forum that could do with a quick once over [2]
| Archelirion Hope you had a good Christmas man :] Checking out Amia Venera Landscape at the moment, probably some of the best metalcore I've heard in a good while!
| Mongi123 Oh yea I looked at it and I saw Intronaut and Steven Wilson needed some work, so I could do those. When is it all due? I could try to get it done tonight after work.
| Mongi123 What's up? Sorry haven't felt much of a desire to come on here anymore so I'm a bit out of the loop haha not as fun as it used to be :/
| Arcade if you get a spare moment i've got a review in the forum that could do with a quick once over :)
| hogan900 One of the two songs might actually be one of my favorite songs by them, but they are both pretty good. Cheers man!
| hogan900 Prob one of my favorites I own, still sick to have. You like the two new tracks they did on their split with Prawn?
| Arcade sure just give us ur fb and i'll pop you in
| Jots I guess ask one of them to invite you to it, dunno if you know any of us on FB
| Dinosaur It's the new band of the vocalist from The Hope and the Failure, which i would also recommend if you're into melodic hardcore stuff. My less than sufficient knowledge of the hardcore scene would describe it as More Than Life with a 'post' feel to it
| Dinosaur Speaking of female vocalists, have you heard the new Heart on My Sleeve?
| Dinosaur Yeah, new Underling is sweet. Makes me think of Altar of Plagues meets Amia Venera Landscape
| Rowan5215 Good luck then lad, I know how painful that waiting period can be. Not really any plans tbh except a small camping trip with friends from back home which should be sweet. Might look into takin a vaycay somewhere early next year but I have no idea where to start
| SachikoM Ahh fair enough. Not sure if it was you I told, but there is a new taku sugimoto collab coming out on the 29th, so you may want to check that out.... All of my uni preferences are in Sydney/surrounds, so I'm going to be spending a lot of time down there looking for work, accommodation, and even just undertaking general scouting. It's all just a case of getting myself into a good position financially and mentally, so I can tackle any possible scenario. I'm really looking forward to it all tbh.
| SachikoM Good to hear. I'm down near Catherine Hill Bay, which is nice, my grandma has a little cottage near the beach, so it's a good place to relax. It's actually a reasonably convenient spot, because I can just head to the lake and catch a train to Sydney, or I can drive into Newcastle. What sort of stuff are you looking to review? Anything that might interest me? ;)
| SachikoM Congrats. You'd be on uni break now, wouldn't you? I'm relishing my break. I'm currently in the Central Coast (well closer to Lake Macquarie actually...) with some relatives, so I'm just making the most of being close to Sydney, and being able to get out and do stuff. Hopefully going to save money for next year. Have you got anything lined up for your time off?
| SachikoM Have you finished your exams yet?
| TalonsOfFire thx a lot dude, I'll check those out. I have a few Cds by Daylight Dies and remember loving the one you mentioned so I'll definitely give them more listens as well. Overall I'm not hearing a huge difference between death/doom and funeral doom, but that's probably cause I'm not as well versed in the genres.
| Toondude10 will check, and I'm definitely planning on listening to their previous albums.
| Toondude10 this looks like something that's right up your alley https://play.spotify.com/album/7Hs4MdsvavxOhH8qfcNwe7
| CalculatingInfinity 13kai is mindblowing to me, don't know how'd you feel about this now but it's pretty different from BT.
| CalculatingInfinity My exams are after Christmas, best of luck to you :D. It took me time to warm up to the album but it got the others instantly so idk, Goth goodness by the king.
| CalculatingInfinity Hey man, haven't seen around for a while. Me, Evo, Aaron and Jas all agreed that you should dive on the hype train for this: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=205787
| Toondude10 Think you could give my review a quick proofread, at least before Johnny gets to it first?
| evilford Hey if u haven't heard sinister's third album u should check it out. Not as good as their first two but still definitely worth a listen :]
| ExplosiveOranges nah man, you were right on. you basically confirmed my biggest hunch, which was that i needed to beef it up a little more before writing a conclusion. i'll see if i can wrap it up tonight (or in the morning where you are) if i don't fall asleep while writing it, lol
| metalheadrunner I'm probably inbetween beginner and intermediate, I've been playing for about eight months. I don't really ever solo or anything, mainly riffs. I like to play post-hardcore, alternative rock, and alternative metal.
| metalheadrunner hey daddy, I haven't learned them yet, but I'm just trying to compile a few lists of songs before I go and learn anything (:
| SachikoM Fair enough dude, don't force yourself. There's always time. I'm really stoked you love Sugimoto tho, he's one of my faves. Opposite is a classic imo, and one of the cornerstones of japanese improvised music. Just keep at it. I wish you luck in your exams, and I hope to hear from you after you've smashed them. ;)
| SachikoM Thanks, I'm going to try and make the most of it. Hopefully I can start reviewing seriously again, and I can earn some money before heading to uni. I'll have my fun, but my time is yet to come for that sort of thing. Have you been ploughing through the recs I gave you??? ;)
| SachikoM It feels great, especially considering that most of my exams were all I could've asked for (except chemistry lol, what a terrible exam). I'm so happy to be done with school, it means I can relax a bit. I'm probably going to spend some time with relatives on the Central Coast so I can go down to Sydney and whatnot. I wish you all the luck with your exams, I know you'll do well. Short-term pain for long-term pleasure... That was my motto.
| Toondude10 Also, if you have a need for some more European melodeath, look up Disarmonia Mundi. Bjorn Strid is one of the vocalists.
| Toondude10 Yeah, I've only listened to the first track but it was pretty good. There's also a 25 minute track on it which might be interesting.
| Toondude10 I found Arcane's first album on Spotify in case you're interested. I haven't listened to it yet but I plan to at some point. https://play.spotify.com/album/0ma22yWNZ6BdNh8fXUHF9T
| FLCL You sir have a really cool taste in music
| Archelirion Noooooo, serious?! :o If they're releasing a repress of Owsla then maybe Elil and Inle are on the horizon too? We can hope! (It'll mean I won't have to kill my bank account on discogs either...)
| Archelirion Good GOD that is beautiful. I really like The Ache Of Want, probably because it more-or-less feels like a cleaner Owsla, which maybe a bit more cello. Still can't bring myself to 4.5 it though. Anyways, yeah, I'll probably get this on Alerta Antifascista when it comes out - thanks! :]
| MistaCrave BM is arguably my favorite genre, as indicated by my pie chart haha. I really dig Ruins of Beverast. I'll have to check out that Kataxu and Dangers, thanks dude m/ m/ m/
| Archelirion Hey, I've just posted a review for Fall of Efrafa's Inle. It's impossible to adequately do it justice, but I wanna say thanks a hundred times for introducing me to them :] - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/68856/Fall-of-Efrafa-Inle/. I'd really appreciate if you checked it out at some point, if you have the time.
| MistaCrave Review for Spectral Lore is up. Be sure to let me know what you think.
| SachikoM True, a job on the side, plus a scholarship would probably do the trick. It'd just be a matter of staying savvy with the money then.
| SachikoM A lot of the unis are stingy as **** tho, and they're really competitive. I should get one, but I'd be surprised if I got anything substantial tbh.
| SachikoM Huh, small world. Newcastle's meant to be a good uni for engineering. The main reason I want to go to Sydney is for the business schools, and also for the social opportunities. It'll give me an ability to network. Newcastle would be convenient tho, because I could stay with relatives.... I just want a good qualification tbh.
| SachikoM Nice. As I said, I have loads of family living around there (well, not in the nice parts of town, I'm from a poor family). I even have relatives going to high school there (merewether high I think????). I visit in my holidays, but it's a monstrous drive (7 hours) so I only visit in the holidays. What do you study?
| SachikoM The good thing is that I have excess units, so the pressure isn't huge atm. My subjects scale like crazy too which is great (chemistry, 4-unit maths, etc.). UoN??? Is that University of Newcastle? I have family in Newcastle. I visit quite often.
| SachikoM Aiming for 95 , but I only need 92 for my courses. My mid-year estimate was around 98, so if I do well' hopefully I should be able to shoot for some scholarships.
| SachikoM Oh, I won't burden you with any of my recs atm... I do know a fair bit of emo though, so if you ever want any recs, I'm happy to give you some. The HSC has been as good as can be expected so far (my worst subject, English, is out of the road and the tests were easier than expected, and I hope that is a good thing rather than a bad thing). I have another test on Friday, and then next Wednesday. After that, I have a hellish schedule (4 tests in 3 days), so i'm relishing this little free time.
| SachikoM I made a list on my old account too: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=159598
| SachikoM This is either going to convert you or alienate you for good (as the genre so often tends to). It does tend to get a bit too academic for it's own good, but there are some really great (as well as intriguing works). I'll go easy on you (I don't want another bar sachiko experience): AMM - AMMMusic, Taku Sugimoto - Opposite, Sunshine Has Blown - S/T (they're Australian believe it or not), Toshimaru Nakamura Tomoyoshi Date Ken Ikeda - Green Heights, Hong Chulki - Amplified WC.
| SachikoM You a fan of EAI and free improvisation?
| Jasdevi087 If we're talking in general, I enjoyed the new Ahab album (the boats of the glenn carrig), you might be into that. Also Lost Weekend's s/t debut was cool. Akhlys - the dreaming I/ Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss and Death Grips - Jenny Death are my current aoty forerunners if you haven't jammed those.
| Jasdevi087 I haven't seen them around, though if they were a flavour of the week type thing, I wouldn't be in the know either. I did look them up afterwards though and they won some awards earlier this year so they probably are in the spotlight a little at the moment; the vocalist is the frontman for indigo la End if that means anything. Could be worth looking out for, it sounds alright, the chorus is a little familiar sounding though.
| ExplosiveOranges just noticed your comment on my infected mushroom review. thanks for the feedback, man.
| SachikoM Continued (genres in brackets): Horatiu Radulescu - Clepsydra Astray (spectralism), Dennis Johnson - November (minimalism), Cornelius Cardew - Treatise (indeterminacy), Krzysztof Penderecki - Matrix 5 (sonorism), Karlheinz Stockhausen - Kontakte (musique concrete), Lucio Capece, Julia Eckhardt.... - Wedding Ceremony (Lowercase/Chamber). There's a but of a mix there, so give it a shot. If you want more specific recs for one of the genres, I can happily provide, just ask. Enjoy. :]
| SachikoM Thanks for the feedback on the review. I'll give you some mixed classical recs (because my knowledge has holes in it). On that note, for some other a Romantic Period: Franz Schubert - String Quartets: No. 14 "Der Tod und das Mädchen"; No. 13 "Rosamunde", Vladimir Sofronitsky - Scriabin Recital (covers pretty much all of Alexander Scriabin's work), Felix Mendellsohn - Complete String Quartets... For other avant-garde/modern classical recs: Jakob Ullmann - Fremde Zeit Addendum, to be cont.
| SachikoM Sure thing. I'll shoutbox them through some time tonight, I've got a bit of work to do atm. I'm glad you enjoyed the ones I recced earlier. :]
| Archelirion When you get the time, definitely check out both the Endlesshade and Slugdge albums because both are indeed fantastic (I'd say the Endlesshade just about trumps the Slugdge, but it's close). I'll check out Wolfheart at some point, never come across it but it looks interesting! I see you 4.5'd Barrow's 'Being Without' so I'd rec 'The Ebony Void' by The Drowned God - it's only 3 tracks and 20 minutes, but it makes me feel like Barrow does so you might like it as well? I dunno :L
| Archelirion Awesome, if you do write it then I really look forward to reading it. I'm not doing too badly, back at uni too and immediately realising that history is a lot more work than maths - it's more enjoyable though, so swings and roundabouts I guess. Just means a few less reviews, though I'm working on a couple at the moment. Got any standout albums from this year?
| Archelirion Hey dude! If you want something to review at some point, Zuriaake's 'Afterimage of Autumn' is still reviewless and considering it was you that told me of its existence in the first place, I'm sure you would do it justice ^.^ Anyways, hope you're well!
| Metalstyles Yeah, for sure, I don't want to overwhelm you with a bunch of stuff (just as I myself don't like to be overwhelmed haha), so try Kontinuum - Kyrr, if you haven't already, it's a great atmospheric metal record. Also, the new (well, relatively haha) Negura Bunget album, Tau. It's not their very best work, but it's better than their last and their "not best" still equals pretty awesome.
| Toondude10 welp, he was certainly "on the spot" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YMPAH67f4o
| SharkTooth hey man, posted something on the proofreading thread, could you check over it?
| Metalstyles Hey man, I just wanted to confirm if you were still interested in reviewing the upcoming Al Namrood album? I can't give you the promo just yet, but you'd get it comfortably before the release date, which I think was November 30 or something like that.
| Toondude10 lol, yeah that album art say it all XD first three songs are great.
| Toondude10 here's some good ole Australian prog rock, I think you might like it http://breakingorbit.bandcamp.com/album/the-time-traveller
| EvoHavok Oh right, saw the blog post after asking... But yeah, they deserve one asap.
| EvoHavok Yo! I see you love new Amorphis as well. Planning on doing some sweet review for it? :D
| Let I really dig Vali's stuff, so I gotta give Musk Ox a full listen eventually. I'm ashamed I haven't listened to all of Old Raves End yet. That's def my kind of s***. Appreciate the recs dude
| Jots i'm already busy writing for new natural snow buildings which drops on sept 4 ; [
| Jots there's this Grouper side project called Helen, and they make catchy dream pop. new album is out sept 4, might interest you..
| Jots any new reviews in the works?
| SachikoM If you ever need modern classical or sonorism/serialism/weirdoism recs, hit me up.
| Arcade done, probably one of the easiest edits i've ever done.
| Arcade i'm having to edit some dreadful submissions for my english tutorial atm so i'd be more than happy to read the work of someone even slightly literate lol
| Archelirion Checked out a couple off of the Anopheli record, sounds really good! I see the Owsla comparison, and while (from what I've heard) I agree it's not QUITE as good, I think the cello is a really nice touch. Downloaded and checking the rest of it at work tomorrow :]
| Archelirion I've been meaning to check that out pretty much since it came out, it sounds absolutely incredible. That said, any project that comes out of anything to do with FoE is complete gold, or at least it seems that way.
| SharkTooth Hey man, it seems that Johnnyonthespot's a bit busy atm so it would be great if you proofread my review
| Arcade laughing at the intense accuracy of those recent dream theater ratings
| Sowing Yeah it's an awesome feeling. The guys who run that band (as well as the Republic of Wolves) are pretty cool. They've already commented on my reviews and replied to me on Facebook before. They're really chill. Definitely worth the time and attention of the users here, as I'm certain they've only scratched the surface of what they'll end up doing.
| Sowing Just noticed you have Grandfather 5'd. This pleases me.
| Arcade met Wil when i saw them last time and it was profoundly uncomfortable
| Arcade bought my ticket this morning, so excited. they were pretty fantastic last time i saw them so i'm pretty excited, especially with AJJ. you seen them live before?
| Arcade gonna be seeing The Smith Street Band on the upcoming tour?
| RadicalEd Ah, good luck with your exams. Hoping to pass the bar this year so i ca relate
| RadicalEd also you still haven't listened to Battisti, which is disappointing ;)
| RadicalEd Check the new Titus Andronicus if you can get your hands on it.
| Deviant. If it has no art then it has no art. You can still add it
| Arcade you should review the Kamasi Washington album
| Jasdevi087 Yeah don't trust those averages DIM is the only good one, they're super generic.
| Jasdevi087 Don't listen to any Gazette album other than DIM it's not worth it.
| CalculatingInfinity Yep studio version of Art of Life is a 4.5 but live it's 5 and the best song ever (which is what my rating is based from). Also I know you're busy but don't commit the cardial sin which so many people do and dismay from checking the rest of their album because X Japan's discography is pretty much top 3 discogs ever imo. Yoshiki's latest classical album is nice but I think the Gazette kinda stink.

| CalculatingInfinity Hey man, hope you're doing better than you were when you wroke your list in April. You like anime, if you haven't heard of this you need to watch it (was in anime club, I died at the first episode): http://www.crunchyroll.com/food-wars-shokugeki-no-soma Also about time you rated Art of Life :P

| paradox1216 forgot to thank you for the kind words on my shoutbox, I highly appreciate it man =)
| PortalofPerfection Don't know if you're gonna like this but I'm completely obsessed with it right now. Post Black Metal 2-piece from Italy. Quirky and charming and dark and exciting and just awesome.https://falaise.bandcamp.com/

| hogan900 Exactly how I feel, was watching some live videos of Orchid and Pg. 99, and a video for Envy's A Warm Room came up. I listened to it and got hooked. A Dead Sinking story is incredible.
| hogan900 As soon as I listened to Aphellion I knew that the album was just going to be crazy good. I got it at a flee market yesterday, was actually a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. But I think it was worth it.

| hogan900 Didn't know you were a Moving Mountains fan, just picked up Pneuma on vinyl and was looking through the ratings and I saw you 5'd it. Some awesome stuff on it man.

| ExplosiveOranges Oi, couldja take a look at my newest rev in the proofing thread?
| XingKing Much appreciated, man. I actually added another one since that photo. It's rabbits running around the sun (the way the sun is shown, very abstract, in the film) with "Je N'en Connais Pas La Fin" wrapping around the inside of the sun ("I do not know the end")

| ExplosiveOranges Ay bruv, could you take a quick peek at my newest review in the proofing thread?
