  • FurtherDown Hey, The Prawn Variant is really great! I love how it sounds subtly at first but then the climaxes are massive.

  • FR33L0RD Agreed, Kreator early works are fast, well done, full energy riffs, all overtheplace. When, i feel like it, it does the trick. Have a good one :]

  • OmairSh Heya dude, hope all is well. Couple more good Pak albums whenever you get time :-). 1. INSTRUMENTAL ROCK https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81499/Asad-Ahmed-Rebirth/, 2. PROG/FUNK ROCK (English lyrics) https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81510/Keeray-Makoray-Island-In-The-City/

  • OmairSh You might enjoy the Mekaal Hasan Band album if you enjoy jazz fusion/prog phase that's not overly technical and complex, but still dynamic enough to be interesting. I did listen to Danny's album when it was released and enjoyed a few tracks off it. Never really sat with it for long though. Should revisit it when I'm in that mood, thanks for the shoutout. I think Danny's a super talented songwriter and musician. Very natural and organic

  • OmairSh Yeah man Fates is super tight live. Regarding Anathema I know what you mean. I enjoy all of their "eras" but I've definitely listened to the post prog albums the most. Though I still adore their middle alternative/gothic rock era as well. Its one of my favourite bands for a reason haha. Judgment is good but it is overrated a bit I agree. Yeah man jazz fusion is sonically interesting since it explores a few styles, but it can be a demanding listen. Requires concentration like you said

  • OmairSh Thought I'd leave a link here. They performed the whole album live | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15woJPN9G3E

  • OmairSh Thanks man, yeah I know a lot of people prefer WHBWH, and I really love that album, but I connected with Weather Systems differently. You know how dense and atmospheric it is. I guess I heard it at the right time in life. What do you think of their older albums? And yeah haha I love me some jazz fusion, Inner Mounting Flame is just a classic. Everything's pretty much perfect. Dixie Dregs as well, another amazing jazz fusion band. You enjoy jazz fusion? Sorry these posts have gotten long haha

  • OmairSh Glad you're enjoying it. Looks like you liked it enough to give it a 4 heh. I usually need to listen to that one in the right mood to enjoy it fully. Yeah I can empathise with you regarding being overly critical. Back in the day I was a so called "purist", and was strict about genre definitions and what elements the music needs to have to fit, etc. But its exhausting, and I got tired of it, so I've let loose now quite a bit. I still have perfectionist tendencies, but overall I'm more open minded

  • OmairSh I don't even listen to Awaken the Guardian much. Like you said they sounded like Ryche, and NWOBM Metal which had already been done better before. Fates became really interesting for me from 89's Perfect Symmetry. That's when their top tier album streak started, and is still going. Perhaps us few Fates fans will now see a new face (Wes' constipated face) in a couple FW threads haha

  • OmairSh Yeah I relate in terms of the DT influence. Listened to them religiously back in undergrad, and that's what opened me up to prog in general and a host of other genres. I just assumed you were a prog head because of your chart haha. I can't do the overly wanky and long prog stuff anymore like I used to. Stamina's gone down haha. Cool man, hopefully you do enjoy the albums, I'd say Theories is definitely easier to get into. APSOG is dark and very layered. It features Kevin on keys which is cool

  • JokineAugustus The vocalist of Pestilence went to Asphyx after Consuming Impulse.
    May 16 03:11 PM
  • JokineAugustus Definitely check out Asphyx since you like Consuming Impulse. Last one on Earth has quicly become one of my favourite death metal albums ever. Other then that, try Massacre, Brutality, Atrocity, Sadist.

  • wildinferno2010 Yeah, Ghost user's about right. I was always too scared to comment so I pretty much used this place to track what I was listening to. Only started actively posting recently. My favourite so far has easily been Consuming Impulse by Pestilence, it's so good. Gorguts' first two albums are really great too, and been listening loads to early Death and Cannibal Corpse. Anything you'd recommend?
