The trick for me is to try (hard tho) to keep away and def check outside inputs, only to see if Im missing somth...like ppl loose notion on how different it is to 5 an album and 4 another (or 3.5 for that matter). Loving a lot of those tracks for myself. I think in the days we re living, a lot of things are just quickly dismissed. Lliking how outside views in general sees the album as a 3.5 to 4. Its legit stuff on what s trying to be.

| OmairSh A couple of Pakistani album recs for ya. Asad Ahmed's Ascension and Severe Cuts (EP) are instrumental rock albums that aren't revolutionary, but damn they're a fun listen. I've been enjoying them over the past couple of days. Will probably review Ascension as my virginity breaking contrib review

 | The lockdown must be straining on the economy as well right. Dude doing a masters exclusively online must be difficult, much more than acting classes since the stakes are higher. 4 semesters means 2 years in total? Good that you're enjoying the content at least! I haven't been attending acting classes for a while now because I wasn't really enjoying them. I'm enjoying the guitar so far, being a bit lazy with my daily practice but it's nice to be able to play a few songs. That's some progress

| Torontonian Oh man that's sweet! I wish you luck in your academic pursuits. Very difficult time to be a student, though. I was basically away at college doing my undergrad the last four years. Just graduated and found a job teaching high school U.S. history, which I'm very happy with. My students are really struggling with the virtual school and the lack of social interaction (go figure). Can't wait for this s*** to be over.

| TalonsOfFire I pretty much agree, not much to grasp onto when the instrumental excellence and emotional impact is so sucked out and replaced with modern electronic pop elements and Prince worship. I like the Talk Talk inspired ballads a lot, Man of the People and Count of Unease. Theres gonna be an instrumental version on the deluxe edition, like with all his albums, that Ill probably dig more. Im working on the review now and will hopefully have it published by Wednesday.

| OmairSh I know right. I'm guessing those guys rate most of their albums after 1 listen. Ah yeah gotcha man, I can imagine putting that pressure on yourself must get worse when you're also comparing yourself to your friends that may be learning faster. I am aiming to be more of an instinctive player with a focus on technique for sure, but I'm in no hurry to get to Guthrie Govan level playing, and I'm reminding myself of my more modest goals constantly so that I stay motivated. | OmairSh I have lots of musical ideas that come in my mind randomly or while listening to songs, so it would be great to be able to hear those ideas in real life on the guitar. The deal for myself is that if I'm playing reasonably well by July then I'll buy myself a PRS SE standard as a birthday gift. That's to help me stay motivated haha :-D. I'm glad I'm still remaining motivated so far (only been 3 days haha), but My finger tips are taking a beating and I feel the calluses are slowly starting to form. What part did you find the most difficult and that ended making you frustrated enough to stop playing the guitar? I want to be mentally prepared for speed bumps along the road haha

| OmairSh Yeah this year hasn't really been great from a prog perspective, at least from the bands I follow. LDGN has grown to become my favourite release of the year (wasn't too difficult I guess heh). I actually enjoy every song on the album except for Scars, which I listen to depending on my mood haha. Maybe they'll grow on you? Yeah man I enjoy that you can hear the bass in the mix, gives more warmth to the music overall. Glad that this Fates record clicked with you quicker than the others at least :P

| OmairSh I got into one Sieges album properly "art of navigating" I believe and it had some good songs and really cool parts, but not enough to REALLY grab me by the nads you know :-P. Yeah man I heard some of the songs of the trio with the new guitarist and Duda, the Stoner/Hard Rock stuff and it sounded great. Hopefully he can inject some of his personality into the new music. And yes yes I love Einar too, but it's more of a love/hate relationship atm -_-. You know how important Leprous is to me

Yeah man Mariusz taking over hasn't really lead to great results (kind of like Einar in Leprous imo). Hopefully with the new guitar player he gives others more space to inject their ideas. Haha I tried the Sieges albums but couldn't really get into them. Maybe when I'm in that mood I'll give em another shot, thanks for the rec!

| OmairSh I like Eidos a lot, and Persistence is also enjoyable even if more watered down. That's the one I reviewed and it's up now :-). Might even have another one in the works haha!

| OmairSh Regarding Obscure, do you like post/sludge metal? I've only full listened to Void Mother and their musicianship is really good (not in a wanky sense), but the vocalist is iffy for me (I'm in the minority though). Her screams are screamo style not death metal. Her cleans are good but she uses them sparingly. I'd say check the song "Lunar Caustic" (or at least the first 2-3 mins). The song has all the elements in the album and you'll know if you dig. The songwriting is really good tbh

| OmairSh Yeah I know things are shutting down very quickly in Europe. We used to read about this ind of stuff in history, feels weird living through it. People are waiting in line for hours at grocery stores. I'm working from home for at least a couple of weeks, but I'm sure it'll get extended. This will probably stay for a few months unfortunately
