  • SlothcoreSam The new Halluci Nation (A tribe called Red) needs some more love, saw you rated their last album highly, and this one might be better.

  • SachikoM I know what you mean, but noise has never really taken to bandcamp. It may be because it is such a niche genre, but I don't see what there would be to lose. A lot of power electronics may be turned away for breaching policy (as a lot of it can be racist/mysoginist/whatever), or something like that, but honestly I couldn't give you a clear cut reason. It does seem as though more are heading across though, so maybe they were just a bit behind the trend....
    November 10 06:23 AM
  • SachikoM I'm not sure tbh.
    November 10 06:10 AM
  • SachikoM Nah not really, the label is largely s***, but go,or released a single with them..... A lot of his splits and stuff are on bandcamp if you want to check them out. Most of the big noise labels stay away from bandcamp tho....
    November 10 05:12 AM
  • SachikoM Yes, much more so. Example: https://turmericmagnitudes.bandcamp.com/album/vomir
    November 10 04:59 AM
  • SachikoM some of it maybe, but his work leans towards indeterminacy. the biggest name in post-minimalism is probably philip glass (and some of his works), and colin stetson.... it's an artsy-fartsy kind of term so i tend to stray away from it tbh, but it's impossible to overstate how minimalist vomir's noise is.
    November 10 04:33 AM
  • SachikoM yeah, post-minimalism has been around for ages. since the 60s i think.....
    November 10 03:48 AM
  • SachikoM Yes, very much so. They call it noise "wall" for a reason, it tends to be much more static and constant. If you want really barebones HNW, try vomir. His walls are known to rumble for up to an hour with practically 0 sign of change. It's almost post-minimalist....
    November 10 03:34 AM
  • SachikoM It's a different style of noise, so i wouldn't go in expecting something too similar. if you want something similar to Mo*Te, you're better served looking at HNW than harsh noise tbh.
    November 10 03:26 AM
  • SachikoM **** yeah. glad you enjoyed it, it is easily the pinnacle of harsh noise wall (even better than the best artists currently operating). if you loved that, you may love the Rita - Sea Wolf Leviathan, which is the other really cream-of-the-crop release in that subgenre (it is inundated with amateur bedroom noise which is almost entirely s***).... i hope the rest of the stuff i recced you can live up to Mo*Te, or at least give you some enjoyment. :3

  • SachikoM Fair enough dude. I love me some raw bm (hell, Ildjarn is in my metal top 5), so I'll give it a whirl. Noise is actually quite emotive (although more physical) in some cases. Especially power electronics, where you have the vocals and the hate. Really powerful stuff. I try to review that sort of stuff around here too, because it gets very little exposure. Anyways, check out those albums I recced you and tell me what you think. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

  • SachikoM Don't worry dude. I'm just happy you're trying out the genre. Too many people dismiss it as, well.... noise and never listen to it again. In regards to Akitsa, yeah I have heard OF them, but I haven't heard any of their albums aside from Goetie... It was pretty decent as well as far as I can recall. I think they used to be on Fernow's label for a while too...

  • SachikoM SJ is very much representative of the old-school power electronics scene, so you may dig it. Just make sure to download the right version of the album (the 10-cassette version, not the reissue). Power electronics also happens to be my area of expertise, so if you ever want any recs, hit me up.
    November 4 12:00 AM
  • SachikoM Not greatly similar, no. Converter is rhythmic noise, Mo*Te is wall noise, SJ is power electronics and Incapacitants as well as Werewolf Jerusalem are both harsh noise. In terms of accessibility, I'd probably start with Converter and Incapacitants, otherwise, I'd say just explore and listen around....
    November 3 11:34 PM
  • SachikoM Well, I guess the best place to start is with the classics. So stuff like: Incapacitants - As Loud As Possible, Mo*Te - Life in a Peaceful New World, Werewolf Jerusalem - God Has Shot Himself, Sutcliffe Jugend - We Spit on Their Graves, Converter - Shock Front. They're good reference points. There's a couple of subgenres in there as well, so look around, see what you like.
    November 3 11:07 PM
  • SachikoM Ahh, well noise is my main, so I'm probably really harsh, but that wolf eyes album in particular comes across as failed experiments and half-baked ideas. It tries to expand the genre, but everything flies wide and falls short of the mark. But then again, I've never liked wolf eyes. They're good as an entry to noise, but beyond that, I don't see the appeal tbh. Different strokes I guess. :/
    November 3 10:57 PM
  • SachikoM That wolf eyes rating is pretty lol tbh.

  • Judio! Hope you enjoy them dude!
    May 27 10:03 PM
  • Judio! I think it was included in the download, but in case not here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atq2mjk_8Wk. We have a music video for one of the songs on our first album on our youtube channel, too. :)
    May 27 05:28 AM
  • Judio! did the vocals for the opener and for Awake IV, laughingman did the vocals for all the rest. He also drew the cover art and made the music video for Dream III. On our first album though, I did all the vocal work.
    May 27 02:11 AM
  • Judio! Basically yeah. Once laughingman (the other member of SSM) and I had the concept down we started recording songs that fit within the album's vision, and then ordered them accordingly so as to give the album a narrative-like flow. A few of the songs were made before we came up with the concept and were reworked to fit the story, but other songs were made with a certain event within the story in mind. Once we felt we had enough material and the order was perfect, that's when we recorded the lyrics
    May 27 12:08 AM
  • Judio! Probably due to the amount of time and effort spent composing the songs and planning out the album's story. I've always loved making concept albums and stuff, but writing out an entire narrative and producing songs to tell that story was a lot more challenging than I thought. In the end though I think it turned out really well, and so I always take people's compliments about Controlled Breathing to heart.
    May 26 11:18 PM
  • Judio! Glad you liked it man! Controlled Breathing is one release I'm particularly proud of.
    May 26 10:18 PM
  • Judio! No problemo, be sure to let me know what you think dude.
    May 26 07:31 AM
  • Judio! Awesome dude, thanks for taking the time to jam my stuff! If you got some more time to kill, you should check out Sugary Sweet Machines, it's a collaborative project between me and another Sputnik user and is different from my solo stuff. Cheers! :)
