| ArsMoriendi When I say dream pop I do not mean gaze though, just as a warning
| ArsMoriendi Boneyyy hi Check fantasy of a broken heart. It?s indie dream poppy stuff that I love that just came on sept 27th. You might like idk
| Sunnyvale Go for it! I gave the album a spin on Friday but need to come back.
| zakalwe Will do mate and will give you an opinion
| zakalwe Good lad. I am immediately going to have a listen of Titanic.
| Atari Hmm def don?t sleep on Gorguts but tbh Symbolic was insanely influential (and accessible) for me so nothing can quite compete! Pestilence is great too for classic OSDM as well as Autopsy. Maybe start there ;) Bonus Finnish dm recs: Adramelech - Psychostasia and Convulse - World Without God
| Atari Don?t sleep on Symbolic if you?re finally jamming Death ;)
| Sunnyvale Thanks Boney! Will get this posted shortly.
| Sunnyvale Great, thanks Boney! Just shoutbox me a Google docs link when you're ready, if that works.
| Sunnyvale Hi Boney! Any chance you'd be interested in writing a short blurb for Javelin for the October release of the month? Let me know, thanks!
| Pheromone dont think i dont see ur 3 review on rym young man
| DoofDoof The Maria BC album sounded very promising on first go
| Pheromone ctrl f '5.0' classic on your ratings list soon
| Pheromone omg will it be will it be it wont be will it i hate you
| Ryus https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1037980 congrats and make sure not to heed coltons advice below me
| fogza Excellent! Lilybelle, Marmalade, House is falling, Toybox, Butch. Cheers you skeletal monarch
| zakalwe Well I can?t argue against that. I will give them a go mate. Cheers.
| Slex Great minds think alike
| Pheromone boney boney boney i promise i will check every single thing u have ever rec'd me if you post to the sotd
| izakaya ah makes sense. yeah think they've got the same pic - comes from a dj metatron album. unsure how to change it here tbh
| izakaya hmm looks like I accidentally removed yr shout. I'm not, although do know who that is (as they're pretty prominent in the electronic pages there)
| neekafat I don't but I should think of something!! hbu?
| Pheromone lol it was a rating to appease johnny but one more perfect listen of sparklehorse good morning spider and ill likely be bumpting that to a 5 - how do you find sparklehorse? will check dude!!!
| SlothcoreSam Boney, check the new GEZAN with Million Wish Collective. You won't regret it.
| loveisamixtape oh fuc yea that lineup is stacked, i get to play with them again in march, can?t w8. one of my favorite live bands
| Pheromone mirah - you think it's like this but really it's like this
| Scoot if you're getting into more ambient stuff you might like a project i made earlier this year https://kannatama.bandcamp.com/album/hell-debris
| Atari Wtf? had no idea about the new Emily Scott Robinson EP!!! I was obsessed with her last album and her debut was damn fine as well. Will check that without a doubt this weekend
| Atari ah too bad.. I think they're great but I've only really heard their last 2 albums
| Atari you a fan of Trampled by Turtles? they just dropped a new album ;)
| loveisamixtape i just hype tagabow bc they?re one of my favorite bands lol, the brazil rocks. also have liked a country western for a while and their sound on that was outta nowhere. their other stuff leans way more into duster or uhhhhh alex g territory. idk i just like it
| mynameischan All that pre-release talk and I completely forgot it was out! I?ve been trying to work through albums that came out earlier this year that I?ve neglected but I will make time for it. Very excited that you like it
| JohnnyoftheWell you are LATE!!! go go https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=200676
| Pheromone haha i am the worst for recs aint no stress here. im just listening to em now as i [attempt] study
| Sunnyvale Cheers! I'll work on a writeup then. Congrats on the new place!
| Sunnyvale Just dropped a 4 on the new Dawes, really digging it, appreciate the rec! Unless you have something in the works, may write up a review for it.
| Sunnyvale Yeah, I gave it a cursory listen yesterday and liked it. Will be spending more time on this one. Thanks for the rec!
| Sunnyvale I'm a big fan of some of their songs, but the last few have been diminishing returns for me. I'll have to check this one on your rec though!
| Pheromone I've been okay man, just burned tf out. I haven't even really had a chance to check new music - for two reasons. Firstly, my laptop AND phone broke recently and I am a broke boy. Second, just a lot of uni work and actual employment work. How on earth are u rec me your favourite album of the years. I'll return to discord soon
| mynameischan I?m excited too, he?s always delivered. Lots of good stuff out today so I haven?t gotten to it yet but I?m sure it?s great
| mynameischan Wow 8 years. Never thought it would happen. Thanks for the heads up
| Colton bro listen to bruce springsteen already wtf. literally the best americana you could ask for
| Sunnyvale I've listened to it once, not ready to rate yet... Will read your review though!
| Atari Sweet! I wrote some things too but not sure how happy I am with it. Looking forward to seeing what you came up with
| Sowing Yeah, that's a damn solid Truckers record. I especially enjoyed the bookend tracks. Thanks for the heads up because I honestly didn't know they had anything out.
| Sowing Thanks! I def overrated The New OK (I think I just wanted to recreate the magic of American Band in my head) and The Unraveling was just okay for me, but I'm always game to give their stuff a listen. The folks who are promoting it here is what gives me the most hope.
| Colton just saw thisgonna listen tonight
| Atari Patterson Hood is on fire on the new one imo. if you don't end up reviewing it lmk because I'd probably at least consider it
| Atari Do it! Funny coincidence but I?m at lunch and a Drive By Truckers song just came on, haha!
| Atari glad to see that 4 for Welcome 2 Club XIII! Just got back from a camping trip so haven't had a chance to hear it all yet but have great initial vibes
| klap yeah wasn't a huge fan. liked her last one more
| Sowing Yeah I gave up on holding out on rating anything until December. That album is firmly in my AOTY running with Zach Bryan, Big Thief, and Archive.
| YoYoMancuso Go for it dawg and I?ll take Blonder, I just want all the good albums on Sput to have threads
| YoYoMancuso Lmk which Swirlies album you wanna review and I'll take the other one
| Dylan620 Was listening to the album when I saw your comment :,)
| sevEn is it true that you think that funeral from arcade fire is a classic...?
| Atari looking forward to the upcoming Drive-By Truckers album?
| neekafat I saw and now i must check asap!!
| Atari from a 4.5 back to a 5, haha. love it!!
| Atari good god man... it is SO STUNNING!!! cheers again for getting me into her. my highlights keep changing every time I listen to it
| BlushfulHippocrene You planning on writing on new Ethel? If not, make sure to the Inbred thread when you hear it; excited to hear what you think.
| DoofDoof Dogs and alcohol lol, what a title - is it a concept album?
| zakalwe Hello mate. All good hope the same goes for you. I?m instantly intrigued and will check soon as possible. Nice one.
| insomniac15 Edge of the Sun has some great songs (Bullet and Rocks comes to mind now) and some I can't even remember tbh. Algiers is better IMO, I find The Vanishing Mind one of their most heartfelt songs. They did this gig with the Vienna Orchestra around that time, it's really nice. You can find it on YT.
| insomniac15 Yes, I dig it too more than anything since Algiers. I'm happy they returned to a more diverse sound. Did you enjoy Algiers? I find it one of their tightest records.
| someone it feels like a try-out. like "here's what we can do, let's see if it works" and the actual coherent album is yet to come. but then also i think this scatterbrain nature and song-writing was exactly their aim
| someone yeah i'd say that my endurance with it came from its brevity. had it exceeded 30 minutes, i'd've been annoyed. probably
| Sunnyvale Cheers! His music seems like really hits or misses for people, but hoping you'll be on the "right" side of it...
| Sunnyvale Hey Boney! Just wanted to recommend you check out Bendrix Littleton, you might dig his first album but the second one (which I just reviewed) definitely seems up your alley. Curious what you think!
| dmathias52 That french horn (I think) in One More Night is easily one of my favorite moments in music this year
| Atari a new Boney review?! count me in, would love to read it and will do so today
| dmathias52 Absolutely in love with this Delines album - Surfer in Twilight is one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've heard in a long while.
| dmathias52 I've actually seen The Delines live, just coincidentally at a big music showcase at a venue nearby when they were opening. I remember loving them live, but never checked any recorded stuff. Will make sure to do so and report back!
| TalonsOfFire Hey Boney, I made a list of my all time favorite songs if youre interested: list.php?listid=199040
| loveisamixtape hellll yeah i am glad you like it, had a feeling you would! my fav song is Fatigue
| Pheromone what are your thoughts on sebadoh? that's a band i will try every couple of years to get properly into because i feel like there's something there, with lou barlow in particular, but i just cant ever seem to have it click
| Pheromone just gets on me tits irrationally maybe - and it's like, of course they met at cambridge uni
| Pheromone i liked the new bcnr cool, i hate the windmill scene man - now i find this band deathcrash and they are exactly the same as the post punk guys but instead of copying already made post punk bands they copy slowcore and emo as if it were lifted straight from the 90s kms
| Rowan5215 yeah even the albums I liked less I was pretty impressed how they managed to tweak their formula just enough to keep it fresh but familiar. can see them growing on me even more really, the tag of 'fun National' that they have is essentially spot-on
| Rowan5215 oh for sure. always thought they would be a bit boring for some reason but they're infectiously fun and catchy, that's the best type of boneycore
| Pheromone holy s*** i definitely will that'll be like 14% of my pie
| JohnnyoftheWell you can do it there is only you do not put effort into it i love you
| JohnnyoftheWell hi i have important mission: 1) make list 2) title VOTE SLOWCORE 3) slowcore albums, famous ones good ones name recognition 4) footture 5) vote slowcore thank you for ur time
| Dylan620 That nouns release seems interesting - anything with only 6 ratings and one of them being a 4.5 from you is gonna catch my eye
| DrGonzo1937 Thanks for volunteering for the blurb. Just drop it in the thread and I?ll once I?ve got it, or drop it in our Facebook messenger.
| loveisamixtape lmao embarrassing, pasting too fast? this is what I meant to send: https://grivo.bandcamp.com/album/omit
| NorthernSkylark Ah okay mine is turning 61 today actually haha. Our one prominent overlap is that we both love creedence Clearwater revival. I?d say that most of what I?ve discovered has been a long and personal (sputcore) journey except for this one friend I had who rec?d me David Bowie and Bob Dylan. I prob would?ve checked them anyway but credit where credit is due. And of course the spit community deserves credit obviously. What are you into these days?
| NorthernSkylark I Can?t believe your dad is listening to that kinda stuff cause I know for a fact that my dad has zero awareness that such stuff exists haha. How old is your old man ?
| AmericanFlagAsh What about hip hop puts you off? You've never tried to listen to a full hip hop album?
| NorthernSkylark Erika de casier - sensational (you asked for a rec from my eoty list) well here it is!
| Pheromone boney listen listen now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkWoWHY3q5A
| Dylan620 Boney my dude!!! This is an exceptionally late reply and for that I sincerely apologize, I've just been insanely busy IRL. But I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking! I've just started a new warehouse job and jamming some quality music. Been on a SpongeBob kick too (first four seasons, at least). How about you?
| Atari Thoughts on Carly Pearce? Just discovered her and didn?t take long for me to fall in love
| NorthernSkylark I?ll recheck Complicated Game if you check Paranoid Cocoon by Cotton Jones!!!
| Atari I don't remember haha, but it's all good. you got me into Isbell and Drive-By Truckers so you're forgiven if not ;) and I was struggling finding something good to listen to this week so it's perfect timing!
| AngryLittleAlchemist Don't ignore my RYM add, Boney! I thought we were closer than that ;( *SOB* /jk
| Dylan620 Hey man, if you're not too busy tomorrow 4pm-6pm you should tune in to my radio show - I'll be playing quite a bit of stuff you might dig :D http://www.wuml.org
| luci it doesn't work as just an album, the film is necessary
| luci really enjoyed it despite not being huge on his previous special. he's writing fully formed songs now, some are actually like fjm cuts. it's worthwhile viewing for most people
| Atari Man I think Blonder Tongue Audio Baton might be my favorite Swirlies. I?ve been obsessed with ?Bell?
| Pheromone I had sort of slowed on listening to it (not in small part because Angel Olsen never did it for me) BUT I listened on your rec, and it's great! Is it part of a larger project coming out? (I could just as easily google this but bleh it's 8:47am be my google boney)
| Sowing Have you ever listened to Lord Huron? I really think you'd dig. Lush atmospheric folk sort of similar to Fleet Foxes at times. Both their debut and their latest are superb.
| JohnnyoftheWell That is the other major BOI for cert. Really good stuff, glad I impulsed it
| NorthernSkylark I?ve highlighted at least 6 songs on Spotify on my first full listen, which rarely happens for me. I will certainly be giving his new one another spin too.
| NorthernSkylark Man I just listened to that second Blake Mills album and was completely blown away.
| NorthernSkylark Jake Xerxes Fussell - What in the natural world. Think you?d dig this a fair bit boney.
| Dylan620 I'm sure you mean Born and Raised? That one definitely has my interest piqued, I was under the impression it was his consensus second best - though I'm also curious about Room for Squares and Battle Studies due to "No Such Thing" and "Who Says," respectively, both of which are fantastic
| Atari I have lower standards than you so I?m sure I?ll love it, lol ;) plus I?ve heard less in the genre than you have so probably easier to impress me
| Pheromone did you listen to the for those i love
| Atari so yeah I checked the new singles from Ashley Monroe and definitely some strong feel-good country pop :]
| budgie be nice to me im fragile
| Atari I have not! but I've been pretty sold on her ever since I discovered Pistol Annies. Interstate Gospel is definitely a favorite of mine. her last solo album was "nice" but hoping this one will wow me more
| Dylan620 As for Continuum - that album generally bored me when I first checked it in middle school and didn't do all that much for me when I revisited it a few years ago, but recently it's one of the albums that's been suiting my fancy the most. Aged like a fine wine for me.
| Dylan620 I've been doing alright! I accomplished a couple huge personal goals earlier this month (100k steps in a day [103,276], walk 40 miles in one day [42.4]), and I'm still doing my radio show on WUML (Tuesdays 4pm-6pm, you should listen tomorrow! I've got a good feeling about this week's playlist). Been working maintenance at Wegmans, though I'm trying to switch to another department (ideally bakery). What's new on your side of the virtual wall?
| Dylan620 Saw you had Continuum 4.5'd - I'm loving it atm, perfect for relaxing/decompressing after a long day at work.
| NorthernSkylark It warms my heart to see you dig hospice. I saw him and the band perform that whole album about two years ago. It was a very special concert. Underground hotel venue. Sitting down, everybody being politely quiet. His voice sounded so good even when he pushed it to the limit a couple of times. I hope concerts return soon because man I really miss them now.
| NorthernSkylark Well, you have a lot of great ones too. Thought you weren?t to big on the antlers? I?ve been meaning to check that Ryley Walker one for a while now. Will tomorrow.
| mynameischan Parker Millsap released his new one earlier this month. I would have had no idea if not for a Spotify notification of all things
| NorthernSkylark Hey boney, Israel Nash has a new album out. Give it a whirl someday. It?s very Neil youngish.
| Atari you might dig Timeshares - Already Dead. wouldn't normally rec you a punk album but idk the vocalist is reminding me a lot of Dinosaur Jr. and Drive-by Truckers
| DDDeftoneDDD Sweet bro! Great story too. Fado is mainly with a singer. Carlos Paredes is a guitar master that studied and helpped develop the genre and also portuguese folk in general . Both albums mentioned are portuguese masterpieces. Fado with singer I m no acquinted in terms of albums but Amalia is fado s Empress. She s amazing and sang all around the world, including with Sinatra etc. To experience fado in those dark restaurants with everyone silent is trully something.
| DDDeftoneDDD I can't believe you rated Carlos Paredes back in 2018 man! That's just amazing, how did you get acquainted with it? Anyway, don't forget to check Movimento Perpetuo, also explores fado but delves through folklore towards the end. I'm crazy about you now.
| JohnnyoftheWell you know what to do. save sputnik! https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=195749
| Sowing Another country rec - Etan Huijs - The Monochrome Veil. It's a solid 4 for me, so don't go into it expecting an AOTY contender. Just a solidly enjoyable singer-songwriter style with some very nice harmonies, very breezy and relaxing. Don't force it to the top of your rec priority list, but it's something I could see you enjoying. Full album is streaming on bandcamp if you feel so inclined. Now time to copy-paste this for all the other country-goers here, ha.
| Pheromone Yeah aha, I'm super less busy than usual which means if a lot of music listening and time to kill, so this has been a quite nice reprise from the boredom otherwise. You're my otl tho
| Pheromone idk i just didnt see you for a bit sorry hello
| DoofDoof Not sure if this is correct but the place seems quite quiet but also havent seen much drama or aggro, the more, uh, 'abrasive' users arent about so much?
| DoofDoof Here to stay because I cant see myself getting too worked up with anyone this time - I am visiting frequently but there are other places I like to waste time/hang out too now. Shouldnt be as intense ;)
| Sowing If you ever wondered what a country version of Pink Floyd would sound like, then check the singles from Leon III's upcoming album Antlers in Velvet.
| Pheromone haha i would be lying if I said one of the first thoughts I had upon 4ing it was 'I cant wait to rec boney this'
| Pheromone check that album i just 4'd. Porc reviewed country from the heaven sound
| NorthernSkylark But if our monsters could hold our soulsThey might tell of love, of holesAnd onward just gives me the chills every time man
| NorthernSkylark It?s a good one yeah. I think my fave is the opener and lark, obviously
| NorthernSkylark Really digging that new young jesus album. 2021 has been good for 2020 digs so far.
| Atari think you might dig The Hold Steady and they just dropped a new album
| Pheromone wow boney i was about to come to you and be like 'hospice' is heartbreaking and you've just rated it. Okay, here we go. Hospice is h e a r t b r e a k i n g
| NorthernSkylark Yes it?s pretty damn good. I tried to tell you is soty so far.
| Sowing I listened to Robber and it bored me to the point that I actively disliked it. I'll have to give the whole album a chance but right off that bat I definitely don't agree with the hype.
| Sowing Not yet. I keep hearing good things though so I'll make my way to it ASAP.
| Pheromone BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY
| Pheromone ahaha it's so weird, that one - every time i go like a couple months (or more) without listening I always think it's due a bump to a 3.5 or smthn but then i listen and im like wow this might be the best 4 ever. It's nearly-cheesy coming of age type indie pop / hip hop but it has a special place in me heart n i love it.
| Pheromone https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/70305/Astronautalis-The-Mighty-Ocean-and-Nine-Dark-Theaters/ ugh. underrated
| Pheromone Ahah I felt pretty bad 2ing a boney rec but I couldn't move past the inauthenticity - forgive me boney bb
| Pheromone Oh god, boney if i knew that id have 4'd in a heartbeat - I do get it because Ive always loved boxer and i might even more-so love alligator (though I only grew to love that this year). City Middle is song-discovery of the year, easily.
| Pheromone I dont love it tbf (the Warren one) but the story is sad enough to warrant a listen - basically granted a couple months left to live from cancer and was dedicated into making one final album. ALSO, sorry I think I'm too nationaled out at this point. I love em but my god they have a similar formula. Maybe it'll grow
| Pheromone why haven't you got warren zevon - the wind rated because i refuse to believe you, if anyone, hasn't heard that album ??
| Sowing Have you ever listened to the Wrinkle Neck Mules? I'm really digging Leon III, which is the side project of their singer/guitarist. Their debut is pretty great, but the singles for their upcoming 2021 LP sound even better. Seems like they're leaning hard into a psychedelic sound, like Sturgill but taking it even further. Might be worth a listen because I know you're into country.
| NorthernSkylark Is that a challenge? but yeah i kinda wish she would have done just one but bonus is her vox is just so pleasing to listen to that it almost doesnt matter
| Dylan620 That's the accurate Fallow rating ;D thoughts on the title track in particular?
| NorthernSkylark There are some real gems on those new gillian welch bootlegs. Listening to the first one now. Love shotgun song and Strange Isabella especially.
| Sowing It's on my list! Never heard a full album of his before.
| Pheromone check the new women rarities release - 5 songs but ****ing hell its depressing to listen to given how we will never hear anything else from that amazing band
| Pheromone Ah Bright Flight will be back on rotation soon enough - I'm not one to usually run through discog's so I ended up with a bit of Silver Jews fatigue n tanglewood was sufficiently different enough to warrant many repeat listens. Opinion could change when I go back over. Still, Berman eh? gotta be one of the best to ever do it
| Pheromone WHAT KINDA ANIMAL NEEDS TO SMOKE A CIGARETTE
| Pheromone I've heard the rest of my unrated joos and tanglewood might be my favourite - it's the only one I've had on consistently, though I agree it's a couple steps below Berman's best
| Pheromone i have weird memories of you pissing in a sink, i think
| Pheromone this is why globalisation should happen now! weirdly enough though, that Bonnie album has sort of gone down in my love over the past week - maybe I'll give it a rest for a bit
| Pheromone i realise that joke might be lost to you Americans
