  • Sowing Nice to hear. I'm a huge fan of her lyrics lately.
    April 21 03:36 PM
  • Atari nice Sincere Engineer rating ;)
    November 2 03:21 PM
  • SlothcoreSam New Sincere Engineer is their best yet, so good
    September 23 01:48 AM
  • SlothcoreSam Check Codefendats - Crime Wave. The singer from Get Dead, a few other punk bands, and some rappers, pretty cool.
    March 28 12:17 AM
  • Atari Glad to see that 4! That was my initial rating but had to bump it up since I simply can?t stop listening to it
    March 9 02:28 PM
  • Atari my man, you must listen to the new album by Thanks! I Hate It! and nah it's not a secondhand Sloth rec he's just faster at rating than I am lol
    March 7 04:38 PM
  • Atari Lande Hekt (Muncie Girls) dropped an album in the fall that I had overlooked. It?s really nice if you haven?t heard it ;)
    January 11 11:55 PM
  • conesmoke I liked Obscurity
    October 13 01:44 PM
  • theBoneyKing New John Fullbright is sounding great on early listens. Maybe nothing quite as stunning as a song like ?The High Road? but really good Americana as I expected. Might review it.
    October 2 01:24 PM
  • hxciluvatarhxc so my fetch the bolt cutters review gotd? pretty funny lol. i dont care to ask jom or any current mods but, was there a particular reason for that? lol
    September 20 06:16 AM
  • SlothcoreSam Chan check PitchForkArms album ASAP. it's unbelievably good.
    September 19 01:45 AM
  • PitchforkArms Channnnn. You and I have pretty much the exact same taste so I figured I'd drop this over your way. This is my group. https://open.spotify.com/track/1saiigcHaKrm6ioaGnBm8Y?si=15512591751b4b3fhttps://somewheresouthofhere.bandcamp.com/track/july-3
    September 4 06:18 PM
  • theBoneyKing On a similar note, I look forward to jamming the new John Moreland that dropped today! I am on vacation right now so wont likely be able to dig into it for a while though.
    July 22 04:28 PM
  • theBoneyKing Sure thing! Drops Sept 30, there is a single now too but I havent listened yet. Always was excited by him as an up-and-comer in the early 10s Americana scene, he seems like kind of a perfectionist which is why I would guess there was such a long gap but I am excited to hear what he has to offer.
    July 22 04:26 PM
  • theBoneyKing John Fullbright just announced a new album! Bumping you since youre apparently the only other active user who knows him.
    July 22 04:17 PM
  • Atari they have the perfect combination of nostalgia, charm and cheese that just works for me, haha. seeing them live with TWY gave me more appreciation for them as well
    May 20 11:11 PM
  • Atari the new State Champ kinda rules.. miss seeing you around more!
    May 14 04:07 PM
  • SlothcoreSam The new Cliffdiver album is awesome, sax driven emo, with female/male co-lead singers.
    May 6 02:58 AM
  • dmathias52 If you haven?t check the new CMAT yet, I would highly recommend it. Camp country indie pop that?s super real. Think it would be right up your alley
    April 18 04:34 PM
  • SlothcoreSam New Proper. album, is awesome jump on it.
    March 25 04:21 PM
  • Dewinged Yeah man, some are unreal. I have "a bit" of OCD so if I start smth I usually try to bring it to 100% completion, dlcs et al. Let's just say, some has been funnier than others lol Looking forward to Elden Ring though, soulsborne games are the only ones I keep playing even after getting all trophies.
    February 22 04:25 AM
  • Dewinged I did have 33 once too ;) Dangerous hobby, I tell you. Some boosting sessions I rather forget haha
    February 22 04:07 AM
  • Dewinged So you into trophies too chan? I've been addicted for years, currently sitting at 101 plats, last one was Cyberpunk.
    February 21 11:10 PM
  • Sowing It might already be on your radar but I think you'd really like the new Big Thief album. I was only a fringe fan for a while but their latest record won me over immediately.
    February 13 03:29 AM
  • SlothcoreSam Adam has gone full country now. Check Hooks and the Huckleberries. https://open.spotify.com/track/4tcttlps3UR3r5GjOcNxrm?si=pnNgjSDISfeSJ8Ma6hVoIQ
    January 14 05:05 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Here is great interview with Adam on why he left as well as other things. https://www.abqgreenroom.com/post/interview-with-adam-hooks
    January 14 03:21 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Oh yeah, Adam Hooks, the original singer and the drummer left the band. The Guitarist, Ian is now the primary vocalist. No wonder it sounds so different.
    January 14 03:13 PM
  • SlothcoreSam New Russian Girlfriends out tomorrow! It's different than their last album, but still great
    January 13 04:48 PM

    October 23 04:01 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Just saw your 4.5 on the Kali Masi album. It's probably my AOTY at the moment. My other fav is the new Telethon album Swim Out Past The Breakers, think you would dig that one too.
    October 5 07:11 PM
  • Atari glad to hear it! I love almost everything about it but the guitars give it an extra bite imo

    August 21 06:12 PM
  • Feather Saw you wrote the featured/positive pinegrove review and figured I would send it your way.
    July 19 09:07 PM

    May 25 05:22 PM
  • theBoneyKing I think thats where I saw it too, or maybe on his Twitter. Havent jammed it yet but will at some point, I rarely am amazing by him but his stuff is always solid.
    April 18 03:48 PM

  • Xenophanes Hey there. My husband might be taking a job in Williamsburg/Yorktown VA and I know you?re a VA native. Anything good/bad you can tell me about that whole area (can live within 50 mile radius). He went to VCU so he?s really familiar with the Richmond area but neither of us have lived over on that east side. Thanks!
    September 10 01:01 AM
  • Atari my man, I think you might really enjoy this Thank You, I'm Sorry album... like a lazier Muncie Girls/Retirement Party. and please don't say you still haven't heard Retirement Party lol

  • xxm Nice work on folklore, Comrade.
    August 2 01:32 PM
  • Atari ok higher than the new Lawrence Arms, now you're pushing it ;)
    July 27 08:47 PM
  • Atari glad I'm not the only one who got at least some enjoyment out of the new Neck Deep, lol. I saw them on your playlist and had a feeling your rating would land near the 3.5 range
    July 27 06:06 PM
  • Atari The new Courtney Marie Andrews seems like a stunner so far. She has a gospel-like quality to her voice that reminds me of Brandi Carlile at times. A slow burner but worth it
    July 24 03:44 PM
  • Atari glad you liked the new found glory! cracked me up that you and acad both finally responded about it on the same day ;) yeah it could be trimmed but still remarkably consistent for 2020 NFG
    July 23 02:13 PM
  • neekafat are you still doing a write-up for Gaslighter?
    July 18 11:23 PM

    May 13 07:15 PM
  • Atari I see you have Oh, Common Life by Fireworks rated a 4. good man. I can't stop listening to them and NFG the last few days lol

  • Atari I forgot about that but will definitely check! The Truth of My Youth is such a nostalgic jam
    May 11 10:37 PM
  • Atari man I am so obsessed with Catalyst all of a sudden. might be my new favorite NFG album
    May 11 05:59 PM
  • Atari favorite track and lyric from the last album belong to "Truck Stop Casino". "Maybe I don't sleep enough, well Jesus Christ, who am I kidding?" followed by an awesome mathy guitar riff. hope you dig them!! I was thinking you already did, haha. new singles have a bit of a Muncie Girls vibe imo
    May 5 02:07 PM
  • Atari you excited for the new Retirement Party?
    May 4 02:10 PM
  • robertsona I think I tend to like metal that would appeal to purists where it's just guitarsbassdrums lol, the proggier side of things with synths and flutes and ish doesn't really tend to get me going. which is a way of saying that the thy catafalque album isn't my style but I love random recs keep em coming i'll surely like some of them
    April 26 04:41 PM
  • robertsona yeah i'm definitely choosy when it comes to metal. if it's not converge or paysage d'hiver or isis it's a dangerous game to play. i'm checking out Naiv now tho
    April 26 03:49 PM
  • Curse. Yeah our Governor has just been making mistake after mistake but its fine, it isn't like this state is full of people with compromised immune systems
    April 23 01:48 AM
  • Curse. Yeah, living in Orlando, living that quarantine life and trying to not talk myself into writing for this site again. How's everything going with you?
    April 22 09:02 PM
  • Curse. I miss you bb
    April 22 11:23 AM
  • theacademy referring specifically to this song - the title track
    April 21 12:44 PM
  • theacademy tbh hard not to stay impressed with butler's voice, even still
    April 21 12:44 PM
  • theacademy i did actually, although i do recall thinking it was a fair step down (I actually liked the blackest beautiful). still definitely a 5 tho so i promptly remedied that lol
    April 21 02:02 AM
  • someguest I read your write-up for Pimp. Nice work man.
    April 15 03:37 AM
  • SlothcoreSam Check Madrigal30s bands new album. It's pretty sweet. Wasted Space-Like Summer But Colder. https://open.spotify.com/album/1gbv3nRob0e053jE2nVuaW?si=5mmWm_hcTKO34jHNY5OzBg
    April 10 02:07 AM
  • dmathias52 Honestly, I just found them the last couple days and really have no idea lol. I started with Old Highs and New Lows, think that?s his best critically reviewed album
    April 5 10:02 PM
  • dmathias52 You ever heard of Hellbound Glory? High energy, story telling, aggressive country that is still super similar to traditional country. Think you would really dig it
    April 5 08:46 PM
  • Atari Have u heard The Suicide Machines? Been listening to them nonstop since I heard their new album. They?re so damn good!
    April 3 05:31 PM
  • Atari the way she says home in blankets...
    March 24 04:21 PM
  • Atari Love that Muncie Girls B-Sides release.. just so charming and I love the way she pronounces things with her accent
    March 24 02:49 PM
  • Atari cheers!! she's so underrated imo. glad to finally have another staffer on board with her lol. the lyrics just cut through me on tracks like Best Thing when she's talking about that tree being cut down that she's watched grow since she was a kid. I had a review in the works but never finished it :/
    March 23 02:38 PM
  • SlothcoreSam New Muncie Girls B-Sides EP is out, you checked it yet??
    March 21 04:19 AM
  • Transient Was thinking about the AIM account I made just to speak to you and John and realised you'dd your FB account. Can't believe it's been 15 years.
    March 18 07:37 AM
  • Atari I think you?re gonna love this new Hot Mulligan. I?ll be really surprised if you don?t lol
    March 6 05:56 PM
  • SlothcoreSam Hey Chan, you need to check the new PEARS self titled album, out March 6th. It's the best melodic punk album since Russian Girlfriends.
    March 5 04:59 PM
  • Atari I only know about it since Dmathias rec'd it to me in exchange for that Katie Pruitt, haha. but you're pretty much the only other staffer that likes the genre so just spreading the word :]
    March 3 11:07 PM
  • Atari another country pop rec for you. I am so addicted to this Hailey Whitters album, it's definitely something special
    March 3 10:37 PM
  • Atari Envy On The Coast are one of the few bands I?ve seen live actually! Sugar Skulls used to be my jam and liked some stuff on Lowcountry as well. Thx for the heads up, added that Violent Joy to my music library
    February 28 06:43 AM
  • Atari One more rec for you that I?ve been passing along. This new Katie Pruitt album is some lovely country pop :]
    February 27 06:45 AM
  • Atari sweet, happy to contribute! by the way for something similar to Free Throw you might want to get the new Hot Mulligan on your radar as well. all three singles released so far are promising as hell
    February 26 04:47 PM
  • Atari This new Introvert EP is sooooo good. it's pretty much the exact same sound that Trophy Eyes pulled off on Chemical Miracle but I love it if you have 20 minutes I bet you'd dig it :)
    February 26 04:07 AM
  • Sowing This is random but I just noticed you've never rated a Foxing album and they're like a blend of Modest Mouse and Brand New, only more eccentric and focused on the end of the world. You might really dig their 2018 LP Nearer My God.
    February 26 03:08 AM
  • parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1034220
    February 22 09:15 PM
  • Atari sweet - will do!
    February 14 12:39 AM
  • Atari haven't heard any of his other stuff yet but I read the producer for the album has worked with Jason Isbell so I immediately had to check it out, haha
    February 13 06:36 PM
  • Atari was going to rec you the new John Moreland but I see you've already rated it :) so good!!
    February 13 03:22 PM
  • parksungjoon fair enough man, sorry for taking up your time! much love
    February 11 11:05 PM
  • parksungjoon very fair. to be clear this isnt what i want all or even most of my output to be like. but yeah im open to any and all feedback
    February 11 11:02 PM
  • parksungjoon or rather that i cant learn from it and improve in the future. no pressure though, if you're not interested!
    February 11 10:40 PM
  • parksungjoon can you take a look at this abomination and offer some critique? its obviously meant to be a complete pisstake but that doesnt mean it cant be improved https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/80856/Sadistik-Exekution-The-Magus/
    February 11 10:33 PM
  • parksungjoon may i ask a favour of you
    February 11 10:00 PM
  • parksungjoon i think yes tbh
    February 7 01:49 AM
  • parksungjoon r u still the best user ever or
    February 2 04:45 PM
  • Atari ah that's right. got it now - cheers!!
    January 28 09:06 PM
  • Atari damn I must be the only one who's heard a grand total of 2 albums so far from 2020 haha. you'll have to link me up with that 2020 playlist. I don't know why I can't seem to find it through spotify when I have your 2019/2018 playlists available under recently played in spotify..
    January 28 08:17 PM
  • Atari you might want to check the new album by 13 Crowes. you can thank SlothcoreSam, haha. at first it sounded just like a Gaslight Anthem worship band but stands out more in a unique way with more listens. defs up your alley
    January 28 03:45 PM
  • dmathias52 If you haven't checked Michael Kiwanuka before, would highly recommend it! Really creative folk with some retro-soul vibes. Great album this year, but his one from 2016 is really something special
    December 30 11:26 PM
  • Transient hello, thought about you the other day and wanted to say that i hope you're doing well
    December 27 03:32 AM
  • Atari yo, I'm really enjoying this album from Esther Rose. another hidden gem I discovered thanks to your spotify playlist for 2019
    December 11 05:00 PM
  • dmathias52 Got any fairly modern political albums for me?
    December 9 10:52 PM
  • Atari No worries haha
    December 7 07:59 PM
  • Atari I commented on it the other day my man, lol ;) awesome list! tons of overlap ofc but also plenty of albums I'm interested in checking out I haven't heard (like that Orville Peck)
    December 7 07:22 PM
  • dmathias52 I know Miss Murder, but that's about all I got! Would Sing the Sorrow be the best starting point?
    November 29 02:02 AM
  • Atari It?s really funny u mention that because I was at my friend?s house last night and he was listening to Sing the Sorrow and talking about AFI! That?s definitely my favorite album by them, but I haven?t really heard anything they?ve done from this decade. I?ve had my ratings wiped a few times, so that?s prolly why they?re completely missing. Will revisit them soon!
    November 26 09:43 PM
  • Atari oh that's right - cheers man! glad you liked that Heart Attack Man, shm at Slex's rating
    November 23 03:41 PM
  • dmathias52 I did! Thanks again, already have some stuff queued up
    November 13 01:22 PM
  • dmathias52 Would definitely love that doc! I've been trying to work on one of my own, with mixed results. danielmathias52@gmail.com is my email
    November 11 11:49 PM
  • dmathias52 Got some other decade recs for me? Trying to play catch up real late on, anything is welcome!
    November 11 04:31 AM
  • Atari makes sense. In that case here's an LP rec: Cold Wrecks - This Could Be Okay. don't know where all this stellar punk music keeps coming from..
    November 7 07:30 PM
  • Atari another punk rec passed down from Sloth I'm sending your way. check this Antighost EP if you have time. really great stuff, might bump higher than a 4..
    November 7 04:17 PM
  • Atari will do, haha. it's about time I give Kanye a real shot anyways. by the way if you haven't heard Great Wight I just found out that was their band name before changing it to Proper. so they have another album from 2017!
    October 30 11:27 PM
  • Muhlysa haha nobody I was just reading your comments and wonder since you've been here forever that you don't post as much. Love your reviews . thats it haha
    October 30 09:45 PM
  • Muhlysa Hey chan
    October 30 07:48 PM
  • Atari just came across the band Proper. on your playlist and I'm already sold on them after just one song. fantastic s***
    October 30 06:19 PM
  • dmathias52 Absolutely loving Lydia Loveless. Great voice and really interesting songwriting. It feels like it belongs in the 90s, which is a great thing
    October 29 03:12 PM
  • dmathias52 Will be checking that ASAP for sure. Actually already had a rec in mind for you as well. "Everything is Fine" by Amigo the Devil. Really dark but beautiful Americana/Country
    October 24 01:08 AM
  • KotoFtw I was texting with a friend the other day about how good your review for Come Now Sleep was. Just wanted you to know.
    October 18 03:26 PM
  • dmathias52 Ok yeah Trash Boat's album from last year is insane. The vocalist is absurd, the transitions from cleans to heavy is probably the best I've heard in pop punk
    October 14 07:30 PM
  • Atari Yeah I figured you?d love that album given the overall sound and those Bruce Springsteen references, haha. It?s my pleasure!! So much fantastic punk music being overlooked this year
    October 11 03:16 AM
  • Voivod Yeah, the article is accurate to a t about what happened here, and then some. The only thing it missed is the rise of the far right, but in 2013 it was mere speculation rather than a foregone conclusion. For what's worth, I check on The Atlantic and Wired, because what happens in US politics, is analogously adapted to Greek politics. Compared to the blatantly biased Greek media outlets, these two, among others, feel like pillars of equidistant political analysis.
    October 9 11:18 AM
  • Voivod Thanks for the article in the first comment of your latest review, an analogous breed of political advisor exists in Greece as well.
    October 8 06:24 PM
  • dmathias52 Ok Trash Boat is def in my listen to list then. I saw TWY at Sad Summer Fest, but they played a pretty short set, so still high on my list
    October 7 10:25 PM
  • dmathias52 Glad to hear it! Jealous of the shows you?re getting to see, that Halloween one seems killer
    October 3 09:30 PM
  • Atari another rec for you since nobody else listens to me lol. check Stuck Out Here - Until We're Each Somewhere Else. production is a bit weak but other than that it's sooo good
    October 2 11:04 PM
  • Atari that Youth Fountain is excellent. It?s nothing I haven?t heard before but the execution is so damn good
    October 1 02:12 PM
  • Atari Right on, added them both to my library and will jam them this weekend while working overtime. Cheers!!
    September 27 09:50 PM
  • Atari Aw s*** sorry lol. Hope you enjoy it!
    September 24 05:13 AM
  • Atari another rec for you.. give the new Madina Galore a shot when you have a chance. I'm loving it so far
    September 24 12:42 AM
  • Atari That Together to the Stars album is sooo good, especially the last 2 tracks
    September 20 04:17 AM
  • Atari I'm having a hell of a time accessing your playlist since spotify is blocked at my work computer (which is also my personal computer). maybe you should post it in Olympus like you did last year since links don't work in the shoutbox ;)
    September 18 04:46 PM
  • Atari glad you enjoyed Western Settings :) cheers for actually following through on my recs. you mind hitting me up with a link for your 2019 spotify playlist? I followed your playlist for last year but can't seem to find it
    September 17 02:59 PM
  • xxm You?re welcome.
    September 3 10:29 PM

  • YourDarkAffected Oh then after mwY?s Untitled gets its airtime, you should definitely give it a listen. It has some of the band?s best material imo. Especially in the first track, ?Nobody Else Will Be There? and then the later tracks ?I?ll Still Destroy You? and ?Dark Side of the Gym? (which is basically the album?s Pink Rabbits).
    October 1 02:26 AM
