| discovolante Hmm... bands that are similar to Ling Tosite Sigure, in my opinion, are Haku, nhhmbase, The Hiatus... and Mow Mow LuLu Gyaban, slightly.
| DaveyBoy Great to hear you liked it Tom. Im thinking we prefer it for different reasons, but arrive at roughly the same conclusion. And I think many will be like that, which is a positive for the record. I still wonder if one bad album was enough to derail them though.
| osmark86 saw that you dug The Satellite Years. one of my favorite post-hardcore albums. try my band's album out man: http://helioscopenoise.bandcamp.com/
| Jom What the ****? How does he not like the record? He didn't elaborate?
| Jom That's sweet, I hope you enjoyed the gig a bit. If you can remember, what was their setlist like?
| Butkuiss Dude with the s***ty fauxhawk and the converge cover pic. Punx for life.
| Butkuiss That said, I'm under Karl John on Facebook if you wanted to add me. Probably a bit easier to keep in touch with rather than via Sputnik.
| Butkuiss You're a writer too? What a coincidence. I've actually got a short story in the final part of consideration for the 2012 Young Writers' Showcase, so here's to hoping I guess. I'm pretty full up due to uni exams for the next few weeks, but I'd love to jam sometime. Unfortunately I don't really know any good drummers these days though. I lost contact with most I used to know and the others no longer play.
| Butkuiss As for instruments, I play a few. I've done vocals in a few hardcore/metal jams for a few years, though I don't have anything going at the moment. I've also played bass in a few bands, and I just bought a beautiful Gretsch Hollowbody Electromatic from We Lost The Sea's guitarist so I have a guitar to jam on when I feel like it. Yourself?
| Butkuiss I was going to check him out but my girlfriend missed the turn to the cross city tunnel and we got stuck on Victoria Road for a while. Apparently he wasn't that great anyway though.Yeah, ll. were insane. They're even tighter than the last time I saw them, and the new songs had an insane groove. I thought Deftones were tighter than when I saw them in 2011, but the setlist wasn't the best. I can't believe they skipped SNW. But still a good show.
| Butkuiss Hey man, I didn't catch you at Deftones. How'd you like it? I missed Hyro's opening set, but letlive absolutely slayed.
| andcas I wonder if **** is censored?
| andcas it's funny that any curse word is censored on this site
| andcas yeah it's acad but he barelys that thing anymore
| check out this band from nyc I found the other day, they got some decent tunes http://the-wives.bandcamp.com
| Butkuiss Picked up No One Deserves to Be Here More Than Me on your recommendation and I'm actually digging it. I love the whole desolate sense of self-loathing and grungy aesthetic it has going on. Thanks man!
| Sowing Yeah man that's fine...it defies convention a little by containing multiple songs, so just be sure to write a decent explanation to go with it
| Sowing How is the video twenty minutes long? Is that the length of the song? And is it embeddable?
| Sowing Yeah it's fine; the main idea is just to stay current. If it's off by 1 month or so it's no big deal, as long as the majority of the songs are from the third quarter of the year
| InFiction I'm sorry to hear that man. In this day and age it seems it's everywhere you turn. I remember my brother telling me that one of his employees commit suicide one day and even though I never met her before it still had a huge impact on me. I know how hard it can be.
| InFiction Hey man, I'm not entirely sure what you have been or are going through, but I've been down a similar road myself, and if you ever need someone to vent to, send it my way. Hope you're alright.
| AtavanHalen fuuuuuuuuuuuck the riiiiiiiiiiight oooooooooffffffffffffffff
| BlueW oh wow i ish yo neighbour
| Butkuiss Hey dude, haven't seen you around for a while. Just wondering how you're doing and all!
| Butkuiss Get well soon dude. Us Aussies have to stick together. ;)Nah, but in all seriousness, best wishes.
| Jom Bah, "All for Me" or "Fear is the Weakness" are worse! Or maybe "Darker Times," which, to me, sounds like a Passenger B-side save for the solo. Thanks for writing, though! I hadn't actually gotten a message other than an edit request in months, I think. Hope all is well / life is good!
| Athom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXkfGk5Quw8 band name
| stillexist If you ever try to check out 8-10 on my post hardcore list, I would suggest to first try Training For Utopia's "Throwing A Wrench In the American Music Machine". I don't know if you're a fan of heavy industrial electronica, but if you are you absolutely must check it out, seeing as how you are also a fan of such bands as Chimaira, Deftones and In Flames. "Throwing A Wrench In the American Music Machine" is a metalcore/post hardcore record that rocks so heavy in an extremely original way
| Puzzles Sup North, dude do you remember when I had those demos floating around a few months ago? I just thought I'd let you know I've finished the first EP and put it up on my blog. It's not an official release, it's just unmastered and up for streaming, so check it out if you like and let me know what you think. www.delusiontwin.blogspot.com Cheers man.
| laterenima Haha, **** yeah! I'm exactly the same, it's so corrosively cathartic. Also, I'm enjoying Poison the Well, tis what post-hardcore should be.
| laterenima I know, I can't stand either death or black without a bit of proggy s*** in there to break up the brutality.I also see that you're fairly conservative in your citing of 5s, and am curious as to your reasoning of why Jane Doe is so good. Care to share?
| laterenima Too lazy to write, I think of stuff to say but then don't put finger to keyboard. And yeah, when once stumbles across a fellow sputnik, especially one that isn't exclusively into indie, it's like I'm a person who doesn't celebrate Christmas who celebrates thier first Christmas. What do you make of my 49% metal?
| Xenophanes Was wracking my brain to find a good soundoff for Disambiguation, but after reading yours I don't have to, it's absolutely perfect.
| Puzzles lol I can't remember, I was drunk when I wrote that
| Puzzles Oi, don't drink. Keep the straight edge, man - and besides, it'll **** you up in the long term.
| sniper http://www.fourfa.com/ that will tell you all about "emo" throughout it's different stages of evolution if you really want to learn more that's a gooood source. Screamo came after emo and can almost be called a second or third wave depending how you count. It's just harsher, with vocals almost always screamed, and can have styles that incorporate anything from post-rock (Envy), to grind (Orchid), to progressive (Gospel). Hope that helps.
| fromtheinside well i tried putting Wartime Citizens up but i got a notice from Panic. I think they're patrolling the album pretty hard. about to post a review. the album is FANTASTIC.
| fromtheinside my bad. been real busy as of late (beside having reviews saved to post). will get on it as soon as possible.
| fromtheinside i do. ;) should be uploading it my blog by the end of the day.
| Puzzles hey man, did you happen to have a listen to that other track? if so, what did you think?
| DaveyBoy I actually do not mind it in a gimmicky nu metal way. It is the opener and the next 2 songs are a little similar, but then it gets back to their usual kind of stuff. But there is not as much wow factor. I am between a 3 and 3.5 right now.
| DaveyBoy FtW is a step down. I just cannot decide how much of a step down it is yet. 10 years have this habit of always growing on me after the first few listens.
| Puzzles By the way man, how about checking some of my s***: http://soundcloud.com/puzzlesJust if you feel like it, I wouldn't mind your opinion.
| Puzzles Yeah, I will probably be seeing more than 5 bands at Soundwave, but these are just the ones that I care to mention. The others will probably be a little s***ty.As for the Deftones, let's just say I know something you don't ehehehe
| Inveigh haha word man. My play count only dates back to like November 2009 when my iTunes version was d
| Inveigh oh damn scratch that I didn't realize Mac Lethal had passed up Converge on mine
| Inveigh hey if you're wondering who sent you that last.fm add, it's me. lol we have the same top 3 artists
| Satellite Just listened to You Come Before You, and **** you were right. Sooooo good.
| Vooligan Hey dude, more Over Reactor news: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgsTwBgbbOkAlbum is going to be featuring a certain Chris Cheney on a couple of tracks. Exciting stuff :)
| Yazz_Flute yeah I know, i've had the double cd for a few months now and never was able to listen to the two together.****in' link didn't work for me anyway haha.
| Powerban It's probably a split archive dude. In which case just open the first one and it will automatically extract stuff from the second.
| Powerban http://mediaboom.org/2007/11/19/rosetta-the-galilean-satellites.html 138mb's 320kbps. unless you're listening to stuff on some crazy audio system, 320kbps is the best quality the human ear can listen to. anything greater is usually just retarded.
| promiseswept hey man call us forgotten put up their full EP. i know you were skeptical but you might like it. www.myspace.com/callusforgotten
| Vooligan you'll be happy to know that the DLC album will be anything but predictable. Also, check out my Thousand Needles in Red review, you'll like it.
| Vooligan Hey Tom, if you feel like checking out a more pissed off version of Mammal, check out this: www.over-reactor.com It's Zeke's new punk band, its really really good. There's a heap of demos up on the website you can listen to. Also, DLC have a new song up, check the news article for the link. Enjoy :)
| Smug Some people say that there is an end in sight
| Vooligan Yeah, apparently thats why Clint joined the band, because they sound like old TBE. Also, cos the other TBE guys are getting more and more proggy/alternative and Clint wants to write more heavier stuff, its meant to be an outlet for his heavier songs etc, so TBE can keep happy/stay together. But yeah, if you noticed the other three songs (not Crown of Thorns) start in the exact same way, the guitar riffs are almost identical. And yeah, i checked out your review, forgot to comment though, will now
| Vooligan I have, and im seeing them on Saturday. Yeah, i agree. Not the best thing he's done. Although, one song called 'Crown of Thorns' is ****ing awesome. The others on their myspace dont do it for me at all. Wayyy too cock rock. But Crown of Thorns is a bit different, so i like it. Ill probs pick up the EP on saturday and review it. Hopefully some of the other tracks are a bit less cock rock and a bit more alternative.
| Vooligan I think you'll be fine in that respect, what they were trying to do in the studio was make it so every song was different. This one was probably released first as sort of a bridge between the old and the new. On the album, there is a song with strings and there's also one with no guitar. I shall check out Bloc Party nowsies.
| Vooligan Hey Tom, here's DLC's new song, thought you might like to hear it: ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_Fu9gt3_OY
