  • PistolPete Well...I heard "Iron Wall" and was sold as soon as the riff came in. Guy's harsh vocals remind me of Periphery a lot.
    August 30 02:19 AM
  • PistolPete Glad to see you enjoyed Karnivool's new album, it grew on me so much. Wasn't a fan at first but now it's easily my most-played album this summer.
    August 23 03:01 PM
  • Cipieron What are you thinking about Clint Boge's new band Like Thieves? (assuming you've listened/heard them yet). You are my go-to guy for Aussie music on here! Also what do ya think of Asymmetry?
    July 27 04:13 AM
  • Puzzles hey billy, here's the video I've been working on and a new track. Let me know what you reckon!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3DvjNSZy84
    May 2 07:22 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah me too man - I really dig Boy and Sirin but the rest of the album does nothing for me. It's sad thinking that they only put out Universes like 3 years ago (still one of my favourites). Did you see Converge when they came around a few weeks ago?
    March 15 01:01 PM
  • Puzzles New Birds record - yea or nay?
    March 2 11:15 AM
  • Puzzles I'll admit, Mammal were a pretty fun band. Shame I never got to see them live, but The Nerve are at the top of the list. Btw seeing Twelve Foot Ninja on the 8th man, so stoked. Will they don the outfits do you think?
    February 2 01:29 PM
  • Puzzles Yeah their new album is bloody awful. I'll definitely check it out, I doubt Zeke will ever wear out his appeal
    January 28 02:50 PM
  • Puzzles Yeah dude I remember Zeke posting about The Nerve around 2 and a half years ago when Over-Reactor were starting up. I'm fairly over them but Witness sounds great, the guitar grooves are fantastic. Are they going to put out a record?
    January 28 01:05 PM
  • Cipieron haha sweet. I look forward to your lists, you've helped me find a lot of great Aussie music that I'm now obsessed with. But I'm sure my roommates hate you as they don't feel the same lol
    January 18 08:21 PM
  • Cipieron where is the 'Vooli's 2012' list man?
    January 15 05:02 PM
  • Puzzles In case you hadn't heard it, here's the new Birds track which doesn't seem to have been announced yet but is on YouTube anyway lol. It's gonna be a hit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7J6ottsHlc
    October 6 05:08 PM
  • Puzzles Far out, dude's got all bases covered in the vocal department. He's got great technique and control in his diversity, it's impressive. I think I have to step up my game
    September 7 01:19 PM
  • Puzzles Damn it man, Februus is incredible! Third listen through and I'm blown away as it's probably the bet record of this 'djent' thing yet. Glad you mentioned it
    September 7 10:50 AM
  • DaveyBoy Hahaha. I cant see a sequel about cocky hawks supporters coming next unfortunately.
    September 4 11:46 AM
  • DaveyBoy Oh no, what a game for you to go to. The bits I saw looked shocking. To make matters worse, I just lost top spot in my tipping comp because of tipping the bombers. Definitely a bad fadeout, but I wouldn't eat your own just yet. I saw Joe Daniher play a few weeks back. Looked like a cross between Hurley and Hawkins. Could be anything.
    August 19 03:27 AM
  • DaveyBoy Well I wasnot gonna say anything, but now that you have. Yeehaaaaaaa. From one rival to another. Still a chance if you knock off the blues this week. Its scary to say, but maybe you guys need Stanton more than anyone could imagine.
    August 15 09:21 AM
  • Puzzles Far out, I think I need to- that's quite a wrap. I shall listen to them in the morning
    August 10 04:48 PM
  • Puzzles Billy! Nearly finished mixing the new record man, thought you might enjoy this given your tastes of late: http://soundcloud.com/occupantsband/the-tallest-man-on-earth
    July 15 03:31 PM
  • InFiction Damn, would've loved Change and COTE. Oh well, still awesome. Can't wait for the new record!
    July 12 11:29 AM
  • InFiction Well, last night ****ing ruled. How did they play on Friday night? Different setlist?
    July 8 03:24 AM
  • Psycotrip go the pies
    July 2 01:01 PM
  • esther Hey man I noticed you like some of the same bands I do. I wrote and recorded an EP and I was wondering if you could review, rate, or even just listen to it. Here's a link: esther801music.bandcamp.com
    June 24 04:49 PM
  • tonybaloney Ah..dang. Oh well! Can you least tell me how Froggin Bullfish and Mile Zero are? They were my favorite on the previews
    June 19 02:34 AM
  • tonybaloney Did Periphery leak? I'm not asking for a link. Just want to know if you actaly have it.
    June 19 02:30 AM
  • Puzzles I had no idea, I thought it was just between Clint and the band. I guess that's the reality of it though, as much as it sucks for the others, Clint WAS The Butterfly Effect in the eyes of the fans. Without him, they're pretty mediocre in the instrument department. Oh well
    June 9 10:37 AM
  • Puzzles God damn, all the classics, you're a lucky dude. Whoever takes over will sure cop a lot of flak, in the event that TBE fans still give a s***. lol
    June 9 05:16 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah, neither am I really. I'm rocking a lot of James Blake, Bon Iver, The National, SBRTRKT, Beastie Boys and David Bowie these days. And, a bit of Dillinger ahha. I dig that guy's voice, mainly his vibrato, but it's a bit pub rock-ish for my taste.. Will check out more of their stuff though :)
    June 7 10:42 AM
  • Puzzles New Over-Reactor record is pretty crap, huh?
    June 7 01:20 AM
  • DaveyBoy Well, every man and his dog have been saying he should play full forward. Gee, I wonder why.
    June 2 08:53 AM
  • DaveyBoy Ugh. Our season ended 2 weeks ago with 15 minutes of madness in Adelaide. Anything else this year is irrelevant. How the hell did we get within an after the siren kick of you guys.
    June 2 07:26 AM
  • Puzzles Wow, that's some heavy s***. That's really surprising too from my perspective, but then again what do the fans know. I'd be interested to hear what happens next considering that Rob was (I'm guessing) the main songwriter and most unique contributor to the band's sound. Given their success I could hardly see them breaking up
    May 4 07:09 AM
  • Puzzles Rob left the band? Damn, why/when did this happen? I had no idea
    May 3 08:06 AM
  • Puzzles So what did you think of the new DLC single? Interesting, huh?
    May 2 07:12 AM
  • DaveyBoy That it was. Lets hope both teams see finals action.
    April 1 12:46 PM
  • DaveyBoy Argh, god damn it. Change your profile pic will ya. So close and yet so far.
    March 31 01:15 PM
  • InFiction Haha, that's dedication! I'm only going to the show on the 7th. Never seen Karnivool before so I am beyond excited. Can't wait to see Sleepmakeswaves and Redcoats too! Gonna be amazing.
    March 27 12:17 AM
  • Cipieron just wanted to thank ya for your awesome lists, i definitely want to move to AU with all the amazing music coming from down there!
    March 26 10:03 PM
  • InFiction Hey man, I take it you've already got tickets for Melodias Frescas? I got mine, can't wait. Are you going?
    March 26 06:40 AM
  • Puzzles Aw dude, Clint left. I'm cut. Be interesting to see what they do next though. No doubt Clint will go full time with the s***-fest that is TNIR
    February 8 06:30 AM
  • Puzzles I had no idea, sure am hoping though. Unless it's that they're breaking up, uh oh
    February 5 06:48 AM
  • Puzzles Yo Billy I've remixed and remastered 'A Damaged Machine' if you're interested, changed the artwork around, band name etc etc. Have a listen on dualityandtherepublic.bandcamp.com if you're keen, feel free to rate it too
    February 1 11:51 AM
  • Puzzles Dude you're kidding! This is the first I'm hearing about it. What's the story? Yeah Needles suck so hard, Clint's singing is incredibad
    January 21 03:00 PM
  • Puzzles I know right. Looks like he's so busy with TNIR, who knows when that'll come out
    January 21 08:53 AM
  • Puzzles So get this Billy: I'm wandering about the DFO at Jindalee (Brisbane), it's a mid Friday and there's barely anybody there but bored housewives with their 5 kids apiece. I'm mirin' on how lame this people are while I buy a much needed round of clothes, and as I'm moving towards the exit I walk past none other than Clint Boge and his son! haha! Crazy days, when your favourite frontman lives among the ranks of middle aged mothers and young children.
    January 20 02:30 PM
  • DurzoBlint oh... then its all good haha ^_^! I only found them a week or two ago.... still not as good as Eleventh he reaches london though.
    December 30 05:13 PM
  • DurzoBlint Hey billy, I know you love eleventh he reaches london. So check out Coerce - Ethereal surrogate saviour. I think you will enjoy it.
    December 29 07:50 PM
  • Rowan5215 Thank you so much, you're a legend!
    November 9 10:04 AM
  • Rowan5215 Sup man, love your musical taste. I used to talk to you on Last.fm, not sure if you remember. But anyway, I was wondering if you could send me Guitars Die In Hot Cars? I would love if you could :D
    November 8 09:06 AM
  • Puzzles ****ing hell, sounds like I missed alot. Lol why did half the room hate them? Heckling is always crazy at an ox show, and yeah he sure does hate the Feds. How were they sounding?
    October 29 12:46 PM
  • Puzzles Damn you, Billy. Do you know they changed the driver's licence design in Queensland? Means no fake ID for me :( Hopefully Over-Reactor stick around long enough for me to see them lol
    October 27 11:00 PM
  • Butkuiss Sup Vools. Whoring out some more local Australian music. Bit of a bigger act this time, but all the same, would love for you to give it a look-over for me! http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/46057/The-Jezabels-Prisoner/
    October 13 07:48 AM
  • Puzzles Thanks dude. You know how I love Deftones of course. Let me tell you, you are going to be all over the full-length I'm working on. It's sort of heavier almost, yet more progressive, technical and melodic. I've got about 8 tracks written and 5 demoed, incomplete though. Hope you enjoy the EP man
    September 13 01:07 PM
  • Puzzles Hey Billy, it's been a while mate but I thought I'd let you know that my EP is finally out - download it for free at www.delusiontwin.bandcamp.com if you want. Let me know what you think!
    September 13 05:38 AM
  • InFiction I wish I could've gone to Progfest, but I had something on the night it was on. Still good though.
    September 9 01:21 PM
  • DaveyBoy On the list, although I dont usually like trip hop. Good luck on Sunday.
    September 9 11:14 AM
  • InFiction Went to see Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving last night. They were amazing. Incredibly tight and yet full of energy. Did you get a chance to see them on the tour?
    September 5 08:00 AM
  • DaveyBoy Yep, and there didnt seem to be enough of their fans there to help them out. Their best song too. Basically ruined it.
    August 25 06:33 AM
  • DaveyBoy I really liked Children if only because the guitar player was more involved. Tremors was so cool as everyone got into the rhythm of it. Quite a sight from teh back of the floor where I was. LOL re CiM. It was a bit like that. Distracting. I dont know what happened to him during Sweethart though. Looked like hed had enough.
    August 25 01:29 AM
  • DaveyBoy Wolves were really good. I presume they have an EP from your last few plays. DLC killed it. Wow, their drummer is a beast and Kim has a stronger voice than I though. Closure were WTF. Quite disappointed in them actually.
    August 25 12:11 AM
  • DaveyBoy Hey Billy, I might review new Calling All Cars. Any points you thought stood out. I dont think its as good as their debut but may rate them the same, like you did.
    August 18 03:25 AM
  • Jim if you can manage to avoid a west coast home final you may do some damage.
    August 17 02:06 PM
  • Jim give us a ruckman ya greedy bastard
    July 12 03:07 AM
  • Jim might have to grow my beard again for the winter. i had the zach galifianakis look going for a while there.
    July 5 01:45 AM
  • DaveyBoy God damn I hate playing the saints. Would rather get beat by 10 goals than watch them kick backwards for a half. It was seriously excruciating to watch.
    July 3 01:26 PM
  • Jim YELLOW AND BLACK MOAR LIKE YELLOW AND SLACK
    July 3 08:01 AM
  • DaveyBoy Sooo exciting that game. I probably wanted the cats to win for kangas reasons, but I figure if bombers find their form they will pass us anyway. Or this was their last hurrah. No middle ground for you lot.
    July 2 01:53 PM
  • Jim ROUND SIXTEEN MUTHA****A. by the way, how do we play you twice before even playing the gold coast once? draw be trippin'.
    June 19 02:43 PM
  • DaveyBoy Hehe. Would not write them off just yet coz all the other teams outside of the top 6 are also crap. Just a matter of getting confidence back and kicking 8 straight behinds is not the way to do it.
    June 19 10:03 AM
  • DaveyBoy What rhymes with erred.
    June 18 02:58 PM
  • Puzzles Awesome man! Whenever you get around to it, I figured if I was going to suggest it to anyone it would be you haha cheers
    May 11 10:36 AM
  • Puzzles Hey man, just letting you know that Shift released their second EP a few days ago, and was wondering if you could review it. I personally love it, I reckon it's much of an improvement over the first, and extremely unique in the scheme of things. I've added it into the database anyway. Cheers.
    May 7 05:53 AM
  • Gnocchi Hey man, can you check out my Dark New Day review for me? You seem better immersed in the rock/radio rock genre than i do. Cheers
    May 6 02:16 AM
  • Jim lol i knew it was gonna be bomber related. they're certainly putting on a show. you play the swans away and the saints within the next two weeks though, so let's see how she pans out.
    March 28 02:07 PM
  • DaveyBoy Hehe. Theres some other guy sitting in the box too, you know. He may have something to do with it. LOL. Seriously, they looked good. You can tell their defence is better. But they have started recent seasons well before. It all depends on those injury prone players not getting injured.
    March 28 01:42 AM
  • Puzzles Yo Billy, how about a review for the LYD 1 and 2 compilation (figure it's your turn by now haha). I've put it into the database, it's all yours. You do not have a choice. /order
    March 6 05:10 AM
  • Deviant. Cheers man, sent
    February 21 06:18 AM
  • Deviant. Hey man, I have a favour to ask. Would I be able to grab your e mail?
    February 19 11:43 PM
  • Benwx lol s*** sorry for the delayed reply. havent been on sputnik for ages. yeah man HELM rock missed them in Sydney in December so really hope they come back soon!
    February 19 04:10 AM
  • Deviant. Hey man, hate to be a pain in the ass but can I get you to go into your vote and change it from "albums" to "LPs" , I unfortunately have to be strict on the voting
    February 14 12:08 PM
  • Puzzles Good to hear about Deftones haha. Birds were pretty boring for me but the crowd ( tits) made it awesome. Rammstein were so much better than Tool it's ridiculous. Of course, they were 2 different BDOs, but it's fair to assume that they were similar. I didn't really like the Vines that much either. Good to hear it was fun.
    February 5 10:12 AM
  • Puzzles sup billy how was BDO?
    February 1 06:59 AM
  • Jim haha. that is gold. he's a popular man wherever he goes. good to see him getting his industrial rock freak on.
    January 31 10:35 AM
  • Puzzles Word is that a crew is heading up to Sydney to film/record Over-Reactor at the Cog support gig, and that the band are gonna put a video live album up for a free download. I wasn't sure if you knew or not but thought I'd once again spread the joy haha
    December 20 08:28 AM
  • Puzzles Listening now. Sounds really avant-garde, almost like Symptoms of Chaos. It's different, that's for sure. I think I'm going to love this one even more.
    December 16 01:32 PM
  • Puzzles That's excellent, man, really glad you like them. And what gets better is, Over-Reactor just released their second record. Holy fk. 5 minutes off finishing the download, and I've never been this stoked. Of course you already know, but I just wanted to share the joy. It will be about a month until the official release - I still have to get them mastered, set up a website and obtain the artwork (courtesy of Josh Meney). Until then, thanks for listening.
    December 16 01:25 PM
  • Puzzles Hey man, the entire EP is up on my blog (complete, final mixes). Have a listen if you like, let me know what you think. Link: www.delusiontwin.blogspot.com. Cheers
    December 15 02:10 PM
  • Puzzles Yeah I thought their third album was a bit hollow/redundant, and I can understand why people would be forgetting about them. This is coming from a huge fan of their first two records. I also love that new song they've been playing live, even if I've only seen live videos of it, they're still good enough quality to comprehend the content of the song. Don't think it's quite that heavy but it's something different, unique and exciting and I have a feeling that with this one they're gonna get huge.
    December 5 07:55 AM
  • Puzzles I'm confused... are The Butterfly Effect still big, or have they lost a s*** load of momentum with this third record and have all settled down into post-prime quietness? I haven't heard anything about them in ages and everything seems to be about Karnivool and Dead Letter Circus these days.
    December 4 11:53 AM
  • CouldntThinkofaName hey thanks for all the recs for Australian prog. you helped me alot.
    December 3 01:57 AM
  • Puzzles Thanks very much man, very helpful. I did exactly what you said, it was a great idea. Here: have a listen and tell me what you think now. www.delusiontwin.blogspot.com
    November 22 10:41 AM
  • Puzzles Hey Billy, could I ask a favour? Could you have a listen to this track (A Damaged Machine) and tell me what you think of the mix? Like, is it ie heavy enough, clear, how do the guitars sound etc? I'm just in too deep at the moment and I don't trust any of my opinions. Thanks very much. www.delusiontwin.blogspot.com
    November 22 07:56 AM
  • tombits Yeah it's pretty much the perfect summer record isn't it? Looking forward to driving around on those hot days with this playing.
    November 15 01:08 PM
  • tombits Bold Arrow of Time is insanely good. Really love Desire Be Desire Go too, can't go past that trippy solo.
    November 15 04:52 AM
  • Emim Awesome, man, thanks a lot. I would soooo buy this in a heartbeat, but I don't have a credit card, so online purchases just no workey.
    November 14 02:56 PM
  • Jim lol yeah i like that, too. i'm slowly putting rarities up there for public consumption. there's some hidden gems amongst their discog.
    November 14 12:55 PM
  • Jim btw, i've been uploading some rare powderfinger stuff to youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAsV3x9_of4 try this on for size if you're curious about what kind of stuff they did before the power ballads.
    November 14 11:48 AM
  • Jim no wukkas. i've seen you getting all giddy over these guys
    November 14 11:24 AM
  • tombits good to hear mate! what were the stand out tracks for you?
    November 14 07:04 AM
  • tombits reminder: listen to tame impala - innerspeaker!
    November 11 09:41 AM
  • Jim lol yeah you sent me that a while ago. it's good! a nice, sludgey interpretation.
    November 8 11:23 AM
  • Puzzles Hey man, I was wondering, do you have a download link to the Smoke Bomb EP by any chance? I had a couple listens in the car with my mate a while back, but I don't have a copy of my own. I can't really order it, and have to idea where to buy it. Cheers.
    November 6 07:03 AM
  • Puzzles Oh, I didn't realise it was on that. I thought it was just seperately released. Anyway, I've read your review of that and I'm not really interested in the record. I've heard some of the Fury stuff and I'm not really interested. A) I don't like Zeke's cleans and B) it's a bit flat, generic folk I can't really get into. I'm not saying it's bad at all though - each to his own.
    November 6 06:22 AM
  • Puzzles Sweet, dude. I checked it out but I wasn't that impressed. It was all right, I guess - I had expected better. You've probably heard it, but that duet between Clint Boge and Zeke Ox was pretty brilliant. I think it was called "The Bottle" - I think that's one of my favourite Boge performances. Zeke's cleans aren't really my thing though...
    November 6 04:11 AM
  • Puzzles Hey man, what's the name of the Kenny/Boge duet? I can't find it anywhere :(
    November 6 02:16 AM
  • Puzzles Ah, that explains it. I was beginning to think you were seven years old - THAT would be odd. Not as good a rec as Symptoms of Chaos though. I tend to favour chaotic industrial noise over dinosaurs when it comes down to what I should do with my afternoon.
    October 31 12:39 PM
  • Puzzles Dude, what? This is a 2005/2006 thing, of course I haven't heard of it. Kind of reminds me of Flipper and Lopaka.. hahha.. remember that?
    October 31 11:18 AM
  • Puzzles Now that was a rec I never expected from ANYONE on Sputnik. And yeah, I shall check it out.
    October 31 11:14 AM
  • Puzzles I kid, I kid. Everyone's seen the Lion King. I have never seen or heard of the Land Before Time though...
    October 31 09:44 AM
  • Puzzles I've NEVER seen the land before time. And what is this... Lion King you speak of?
    October 31 09:43 AM
  • Puzzles You're brilliant, but what the HELL is with that avatar?
    October 31 07:47 AM
  • Jim well symptoms of chaos is certainly an oddity, and displays moments of anarchic brilliance, but i found it pretty laborious for the most part. it's quite a change in style they took when you look back on it. anyways thanks for the link again mang.
    October 29 04:38 AM
  • Puzzles Hahha, thanks man, but you linked me for that ages ago. It's probably the most frantic sound a band has ever had. Anyway, I love this, it gave me a splitting headache the first time I heard it, but I love it.
    October 28 11:46 AM
  • Jim cheers man i'll listen for s***s and gigs
    October 27 12:24 PM
  • Puzzles ...of those two tracks, here's the link: http://delusiontwin.blogspot.com/I've added a huge amount of atmospheric effects to Hollow, added a middle section to ADM (and a few more effects), and remixed both. The EP should be done and mastered in about a month, anyway. Looking forward to getting it out there. I'll do some advertising on facebook and youtube as well. I've been talking to Rob from Shift and it seems to be working well for his band.
    October 17 10:55 AM
  • Puzzles I will, man, soon as I've got the cash. See, it makes me remember how great home recording is, you can get the same result as a professional recording (as long as it's professionally mastered), but it costs nothing. That's not to say anyone can do it, but provided people have equipment and understanding of the fundamentals of mixing the setup can be crazily efficient and beneficial. Just look at Over-Reactor or Shift, for example. That reminds me, I've been doing some rerecording and remixing...
    October 17 10:52 AM
  • Puzzles I checked out all of those recs, and here's what I thought: Sydonia were absolutely wicked, I'm gonna go out and get their record as soon as I can. Jericco and Sleep Parade were pretty awesome, although I can't help but think I've heard the former before. Miramar were all right, I don't really know what to think. "We are the future" was kind of weird - chorus was great, but then the "we are the future" bit was just dumb. Engine Three Seven I haven't checked out yet, but I will. Thanks again bro
    October 16 09:48 AM
  • Puzzles Dude I know them, they're sooo good. I'm looking forward to hearing their new EP. I'll definitely review it if I get a chance
    October 13 11:06 AM
  • Puzzles They're whack, man, I don't know about the whole "begin's here" era TBE but they're good, that's for sure. Now it's my turn: Check the s*** out of this band - Shift. They're from Melbourne, and damn brilliant. Definitely more metal than most of the stuff on the scene but damn it if they're not the next great thing in the genre. Their EP's free, download it, it's IMO a masterpiece. It's a grower, though, so give it time.
    October 13 09:58 AM
  • Puzzles hey man, if you haven't listened yet, I just want to change that link. Here you go: http://delusiontwin.blogspot.com/
    October 12 12:24 PM
  • Puzzles Hey Billy. Dude, I've got 2 tracks for you here. It's the real deal this time, properly recorded and mixed, called "Hollow" and "A Damaged Machine". Let me know what you think!Go ahead and download them too if you want - the link's the downward arrow on the player.http://soundcloud.com/puzzles/
    September 28 01:16 PM
  • Wolfhorde Just read a comment o' yours on a list of Australia's Prog. and Alt-Rock Bands with some suggestions. Just have to say: Thanks, there're some really awesome ones on it!
    September 26 09:49 AM
  • Jim hey man i'm thinking a 3 for BDYB. it's a promising ep of chunky riffs and classic rock 'n' roll. vocals are kinda weak though.
    September 22 06:54 AM
  • Jim e37 would be grouse, but maybe another day. when i'm done listening to black devil i might hit the hay. solid rock this is.
    September 21 01:28 PM
  • Jim donesky. thanks mang.
    September 21 01:18 PM
  • Jim so much stuff to check out ugggggh
    September 12 11:56 AM
  • Jim look forward to it
    September 3 07:01 AM
  • Jim \"Seriously, who needs Icehouse when we have Helm.\" whoa whoa whoa let\'s not say things we can\'t take back. seriously though they sound cool.
    September 2 01:37 PM
  • Jim will do ;)
    August 31 07:11 AM
  • Jim no worries. i love the old aussie rock sound so helm may strike my fancy.
    August 22 05:28 AM
  • Jim yo billy you should check out bliss n eso's new one. it's a corker.
    August 21 12:56 PM
  • Jim awesome. they're pretty underrated i reckon. kinda disappointed they obviously don't have the means to make a full-length album.
    August 11 10:09 AM
  • Puzzles Hey man, just wondering if you've listened to Marilyn Manson's "Holy Wood". If not, I would definitely recommend it. Put aside his image and check it out, cause it freaking kicks ass
    August 1 03:15 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah.. I have to admit though, Doogie Howser sounds sooo much better. It's more varied and interesting now. ASD has grown on me considerably, at first I didn't like the down-an-octave vocals, but the drum beat/bass just gets me. I'm not listening to any more of it though, I'm gonna wait til August 9.
    July 27 06:55 AM
  • Clarky nice review for the birds album :)
    July 26 08:07 AM
  • Puzzles Dude, OR are streaming their album on ReverbNation. I just listened to about half of it, and in my opinion, they sound better, but they're just not as good. They've also changed the mechanics of a bunch of stuff, removed/shortened sections and added more effects. I don't want to ruin it for you anyway, have a listen for yourself. I'm not sure what I think yet.
    July 26 06:55 AM
  • DaveyBoy Ooh, rearranging can sometimes go either way.
    July 25 01:04 PM
  • DaveyBoy What do you mean by proper reinterpretations. And no, what annoyed me was the length of the songs and albums. It is Karnivool like. LOL.
    July 25 12:42 PM
  • DaveyBoy No need for concern on that level as I have the closer as highlight number 2 here. I am starting to think I really need to go to their gig at festering hall. BTW, Silversun Pickups did not do a great deal for me on first listen. take a wild guess what annoyed me the most about them. Should be easy.
    July 25 12:24 PM
  • DaveyBoy Ta Billy. It is listed as double NN in so many places. Maybe wiki got it wrong and everyone followed. Finally, I have picked my highlight from the album and it is Circles. Any song that has a goosebump moment on it like that one does is something rather special.
    July 25 11:57 AM
  • DaveyBoy Billy, do you know if the name of the BoT bass player is AnthoNNy or AnthoNy. Man, I am anal on spelling. LOL. I have seen it spelt both ways around the traps.
    July 25 11:38 AM
  • Clarky can you write a review for the Birds Of Tokyo s/t album??
    July 22 04:29 AM
  • Puzzles The review's up, man. Can't party every Saturday. In addition, I now believe I have complete dominance of your Shoutbox. ENVY ME!
    July 17 10:58 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah man, reviewing this now even though I've got like 3 assignments due next Friday. Just wondering if you have any input as to their live performance/format (two piece ftw), because I have no idea and I'd like to make a mention.
    July 17 04:48 AM
  • Puzzles Also dude, do you think you could let me do the review for this one? I'll probably do it tomorrow, but it's just that you review all their s***(really well, might I add), but it would be better to seem as if they have more than one fan hahhaha.
    July 16 12:29 PM
  • Puzzles Whoa. Just listened to the whole thing through. I have no words, it's as good as I dared hope it would be. It's so DIFFERENT! Not sure about the re-recording of All Shields Down/Call in the Bombers, the others are good, but I think they lost a little bit of magic on those two tracks. Doogie Howser is my favourite track, I think, but every song is ****ing fantastic. My mate and I will get this off their website soon as we can, for sure, but for now, I get to revel in this sweet new find.
    July 16 12:23 PM
  • Puzzles Well dude I'm going to download it off Megaupload, and then get it as soon as it's up on the website. I CANNOT wait any longer. LOVE YA ZEKE... and Cory.
    July 16 08:56 AM
  • Jim 7% so far. i may actually finish downloading this tonight. thanks for the link it's going to great.
    July 15 07:57 AM
  • Jim **** my internet's capped for another three weeks. shattered. -ffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuu
    July 15 07:40 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah mate, I actually live in brisbane. AND I'm under 18. So i'm doubly incapable of seeing the amazing bands that are right on my doorstep. Anyway, where can I get the record from? I was thinking JB Hi-Fi would be good, but I would go anywhere to get it.
    July 15 07:27 AM
  • Puzzles Oh and thanks for listening to those tracks mate. I've written about 12 songs that I think are all really good, and have recorded about six. They're not quite done yet anyway.
    July 15 12:31 AM
  • Puzzles Dude how did you get that record? From Zeke or something. Is it still coming out on the 16th? I really ****ing want to hear it.
    July 15 12:27 AM
  • Jim nah nothing. what's the link?
    July 13 09:36 PM
  • DaveyBoy Another DLC gig at the Hi Fi in September. Why.
    July 7 07:21 AM
  • Puzzles All right then, without further ado, here's one of the songs I've recorded. Enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/puzzles/a-damaged-machine
    July 1 10:49 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah, I guess that's not too long. I'm so pumped though, I think doing a double album debut is daringly awesome, and not something that's done too often these days. Seriously, hearing the new singles as well as the demos, these guys are some of the most consistent/original bands I've heard from the last 20 or so years. Man is their sound killer. I hope their record fares well, they deserve to go far.
    June 21 04:45 AM
  • DaveyBoy Yeah, cannot stop that. I thought the bombers did well to fight back and hit the front. Shame about the Pears injury though. Huge loss for the year. I just hope he is ok long term as those kinds of injuries can effect mentally.
    June 20 01:34 PM
  • DaveyBoy Do not get carried away with the roos. Did not beat much today and two losses upcoming with cats and swans away. The youngsters are doing pleasingly well however.
    June 20 01:17 PM
  • DaveyBoy No. From the singles I have heard, they are nowhere near as catchy. I compare them more to Smashing Pumpkins. But I must say I did like those singles.
    June 20 01:09 PM
  • DaveyBoy Ooh, thanks for the heads up Billy. It is a shame that I have not prioritised listening to Silversun Pickups as yet. I better change that quick smart.
    June 20 01:06 PM
  • Jonathan10 You should be jealous, my friend is first cousins with Ian Kenny
    June 20 12:58 PM
  • Puzzles Ohh actually I just found it on Bebo. Listening now, Something more sounds ****ing amazing. I swear to god, these guys might find themselves among my favourite bands one day.
    June 20 09:33 AM
  • Puzzles HOLY FUUUUUCK can you please link me? the website isnt working
    June 20 09:29 AM
  • Jim **** yeah. cheney's solo rips a new one. and point to push ends on a decidedly mental note.
    June 18 07:17 AM
  • Jim awesome i'll check that asap
    June 18 07:00 AM
  • DaveyBoy Fair is fair. And because I gave DLC a four, you must at least do the same.
    June 16 01:35 PM
  • InFiction I quite like 'Into The Ocean', so thanks for the recommendation!
    June 16 10:02 AM
  • Jim sounds good. two great bands alive and kicking.
    June 14 07:23 AM
  • Puzzles Hey bro, do you know when Point to Push/The Double Album is coming out? I thought PTP was supposed to be out Friday or Saturday
    June 13 05:53 AM
  • DaveyBoy While I cannot quite go higher than a 4, DLC is a strong 4. Top 3 of the year so far.
    June 10 11:36 PM
  • Puzzles Hahhaa god I freaking envy you. Melbourne seems to be like the Seattle of Australia.
    June 10 09:00 AM
  • Puzzles Ohh thanks bro, I actually saw that yesterday. Chris Cheney's blues and the sludgy Over-Reactor sound - I don't think I've heard much of a better combo. Also, here's a bootleg of the Espy show that you said you saw - http://fanmaderecordings.blogspot.com/2010/06/over-reactor-espy-2010-05-30.html#comment-form Enjoy!
    June 10 07:57 AM
  • Jim PULL OVER MUTHER****ER. BLOW INTO THE BAG.
    June 9 12:39 PM
  • Jim that video is incredible and the music is awesome. really psyched for these albums.
    June 9 09:40 AM
  • Puzzles Yeah man, I was actually planning to get tickets yesterday, but it turns out they must've changed it to over 18. At least that's what it said on Ticketmaster. So you can imagine I'm pretty cut. But anyway, I don't know where or how to put recordings up, do you?
    June 8 07:47 AM
  • Puzzles Soo anyway, seeing as you and I have similar tastes in music, care to listen to some demos I've recorded? Just getting opinions, you know.
    June 8 06:44 AM
  • DaveyBoy Hope that I agree regarding BoT. I want more There Goes My Baby. LOL.
    June 6 12:44 PM
  • Puzzles Dude, you're ****ing MATES with Zeke? Jesus, that guy's a legend in my book. Consider yourself ****ing lucky. But far out, I really can't wait to hear more Over-Reactor stuff. They said at their re show that they would release a new record by the end of the year. You know what? I might actually get tickets to that Cog show, even though I'm not a fan. I would love sooo much to be at an Over-Reactor show. I'm sure they won't be playing any all-ages gigs after this, for a long time.
    June 6 11:25 AM
  • DaveyBoy As for BoT, was going to go to that show, but ended up not doing so. Combo of something else on and I am not a huge fan of hearing new songs live. I know most people think it is a positive, but I am the opposite.
    June 6 10:30 AM
  • DaveyBoy Hopefully Hille is back after the mid season break at worst. Bolton was unbelievable at the end, but I still thought the bombers pace could have hurt them on the rebound. I reckon the important game for you guys will be in about a months time. Got to get a percentage booster against those in blue and white vertical stripes. LOL.
    June 6 10:28 AM
  • Puzzles Dude, as if the demos aren't "proper recording" enough. They sound ****ing amazing. The double album thing was sarcasm, right?I'm so pumped for this album and new song. I'm being completely honest in saying that this stuff is AMAZING. It really is unlike anything I've ever heard before. Stop start rhythms, fuzzy guitars, Trent-Reznor esque synths, and quick aggressive vocals. So good. I wish I could see them at the Cog show, but I'm currently forking out 130 bucks to see Muse in December.
    June 6 10:25 AM
  • Puzzles Ohh my god, that would have been ****ing awesome. I would have thought they'd have played with a bassist and guitarist, but whatever, White Stripes style is good. How many people were there, anyway?
    June 6 10:10 AM
  • DaveyBoy Saw the bombers game and they were super stiff. Hille going down was the difference as Mumford dominated the last qtr. Stanton out did not help. I am actually starting to think you guys can make the finals if injuries treat you well.
    June 6 09:59 AM
  • Puzzles hey man, did you happen to see the first Over-Reactor show the other night at the Espy? Or are you going to see them at those Cog gigs?
    June 6 02:01 AM
  • Jim get on with it, foss.
    June 1 02:38 AM
  • thenewnormal yeah I know dude it ****ing sucks. have been listening to em for aaaaages. don't get me wrong, love the band, just didn't think the dvd deserved a 4 for me. pretty rad that sputnik has a cool Australian community though. saw you gave The Warning a 4.5, should I be listening like right ****ing now?
    June 1 01:20 AM
  • Jim THAT'S WHAT AHM TALKING ABOUUUT
    May 31 01:09 PM
  • Jim cheney is only one of the best guitarists this country has produced. that would be awesome. let me know how they go live by the way.
    May 28 08:07 AM
  • DaveyBoy I am leaning towards a 4 for both EPs. I actually think I prefer Next In Line just over the self titled. That is probably a good sign for the LP. They just sold out their gig on Friday. Have fun.
    May 26 12:13 AM
  • AtavanHalen Already have it I was at the show they filmed :D
    May 23 05:50 AM
  • BrahTheSunGod Awesome, man! Thanks a ton, I've heard a few of them but I'll definitely check out the rest. Oh and new DLC is sickk. ****ing yesss. On a random side note, you might like the band The Panic Division, check out the CD 'Versus'. A little bit of a DLCish vibe to them, but a little lighter.
    May 10 01:26 PM
  • DaveyBoy I swear, the Staff Pick button disappears for us more often than it is there. Its strange
    May 10 09:23 AM
  • qwe3 nowaynowaynoway ****ing yessss
    May 10 05:43 AM
  • DaveyBoy You just screwed up the proportions of my profile page. DLC gets a 1 now.
    May 10 04:54 AM
  • BrahTheSunGod 1. twitching in anticipation of DLC's new album. 2. Need more aussie prog (leaning toward the heavier side). Since you're Sputnik's guru on the subject, what would you rec? I already have the usual Karnivool, TBE, Cog, CIM kind of stuff; any more gems like that would be awesome :D
    May 9 08:39 PM
  • DaveyBoy I will probably listen to them all at the same time. I tend to prefer doing that and then later splitting them up for the purposes of rating. yeah, I am strange and just a little anal.
    May 9 08:42 AM
  • DaveyBoy The one you posted a fortnight or so ago. Coz I am lazy and thought they were full on prog.
    May 9 08:10 AM
  • DaveyBoy U have me pumped and I have only ever heard one song by them. Haha.
    May 9 07:56 AM
  • DaveyBoy Fair effort that your most played on LastFM has not even released an LP yet. Gonna let us know when/if it leaks.
    May 9 07:50 AM
  • Jim i'm sure it'll be awesome. lemme know how hard it rocks.
    May 8 09:07 AM
