| sassysista Hey it was great sorry I didn't see your comment last night
| FelixCulpa Yeah I'm from Sweden so I wouldn't here about them that way. But I've read that they as you say "local heroes" in Chicago/Milwaukee.
| FelixCulpa Hehe, heck yeah I know who they are. My name is Felix so I adopted the Culpa at the end :P. Actually the way I found out about them (saw a review of Sever your roots and clicked it cuz of the name).
| Barjac Neighbor! Erm... This means what??
Surely it means we enjoy the same tunes.
Well, this has been a waste of our time.
Peace.
| Foxhound Who are you and why did you pop up as my neighbor? jk sup
| MassiveAttack Yo man, I'm finally listening to Melancholia (eerie piano, sorrow violin, nice nice).
| Meatplow Well, everything up until around 1987's Imperium is more experimental ambient so I would avoid that at first unless you really like that sort of thing. I feel all of their LP's they have released after this period are well worth checking out, so I might suggest Thunder Perfect Mind which is where I started. After that, Swastikas for Goddy might be a nice "bridge" into their more experimental side, so see how you go. All The Pretty Horses and Imperium are probably my favourites though ;]
| Crysis If Bergtatt gave you a headache then I wouldn't really delve further into the genre, especially the older stuff. The production just gets worse. Glad you liked that album, though, it is a classic within the genre. If you didn't like the production then maybe some newer black metal would better suit your tastes.
| tombits i've been a massive whore and people still haven't looked into it!
oh well, get around to it whenever you have the time man, it's a cool album.
| tombits hey, you still need to download that free O' Brother EP! haha.
| Skimaskcheck No problem, i do the same haha! Whoooa man! That's seriously cool, i'd love to play mandolin. And you've done a whole album? Impressiveee. Save up some $ and get on recording that man! What sort of genre is it?
| Skimaskcheck Forget the start of that last post, they managed to recover it :)
| 23kid Hey man, it's Skimaskcheck here, or eleonora now... lost that account in the hack i guess. That sounds fair enough, what instrument do you play anyway? Good luck for getting signed, that would be awesome! Ahhh nice, i was thinking about taking English too, i love writing and poetry, stuff like that, wish i did more to be honest! You definitely surpass all American stereotypes man haha! You're smart for one thing. Haha, nah, just kidding, all the American's i've met have been great!
| cirq Wait, who are you again??
| cirq Not my real name. I totally stole it from Eternal Sunshine :)
| DhA yep thats right man - awesome film. is yours from the film bronson by any chance?
| Skimaskcheck Definitely! Our teacher says it will be really useful for later on too, if for example you go into a career with music, and i can tell he's already right because i'm already applying it. Haha fair enough; basically our course covers most aspects of music - we learn about performance skills, high tech recording, the music industry itself, theory, improvisation. What musical topics do you cover? Ahaaa, yepp! From England, a generic Brit if you will.
| Gev56 Hahaha, no reaspn. :P
I was just bored!
| Skimaskcheck Yeah i agree, makes music even more appealing to me too- when i recognise techniques and stuff. Oh right man, that sounds awesome, nice one! Our music teachers are really really great too, the course i'm studying is a BTEC National Diploma in music, which is the equivilent of about 3 A-levels, if that means anything to you?
| Skimaskcheck Yeah right heh, i actually find theory interesting, i'm studying music at college atm, we don't do a whole lot of theory but i've learnt a fair amount. You at college or uni or something (or your country's equivilent)?
| Skimaskcheck Haha thanks for the explanation on V/V, i kind of understand it! What grade theory are you?
| shade indie rock music. Our biggest influences are Modest Mouse and the less-electronica side of Radiohead
| shade i compose music for my band, as well as arrange the ideas my guitarist's ideas
| shade I'm a bassist primarily. I can play guitar and saxophone competently.
| shade I've written really sad sounding stuff in D minor. What's your instrument?
| shade C minor/Eb major. you?
| shade holy crap a fellow music theory nerd!
| Gev56 You like Kevin Devine?
| Knott- Ooooh, s***. Well. I heard Dog Problems first and it had to grow on me, actually similarly to fun. They're different albums despite having musical elements in common... at the moment I play fun. slightly more often but that's probably just because it's newer. I genuinely think they're both perfect albums, and I'd recommend letting it sink in slowly. Also, If Work Permits is just awe-inspiring.
| BigTuna Daniel Day Lewis scared the s*** out of me in that movie. Soo good.
| BigTuna I'm not saying you aren't a faithful fan in the previous post, that sounds bad. I'm just saying I'm hoping it will keep improving.
| BigTuna I definitely agree that seasons 2 and 3 are the peak of The Office. I do however remain a faithful fan, and I'm glad that Season 6 is looking much better than Season 5. So that gives me hope, because at least they're going in the right direction. I agree, the tension/chemistry is gone in some instances, but, like I said, the show is rebounding I think. Will it ever be as good as The Injury or Grief Counseling or Safety Training again? No.
| BigTuna Also, There Will Be Blood profile pic = incredible. I love that movie.
| BigTuna Leagues better than Season 5. The split at the end of last year (Michael not at Dunder Mifflin) was horrible. They've also returned to more of the show taking place in the office, which is key. The wedding was spectacular, and I love what they did with the end. And, it's just plain funnier this season :) Definitely a return to form. You?
| NebSnurb What were you going to make? Tacos?
| cirq i met matt embree's brother at a love you moon show haha thats how cool i am. i havent been able to listen to it straight through. its so horrible that i think im gonna write my 1st review about it hah
| cirq damn, thats cool. i would have tried to meet the band too but i was with my then girlfriend :/ yepp! i actually like the kings of leon, but dont tell anyone! what do you think of the new tfot cd?
| cirq what should i get 1st? and yeah, mwY put on one of my favorite shows i have ever seen. believe it or not, KoL is fantastic live haha
| cirq ive accidentally seen them twice, once with circa survive and once with mwY.. theyre actually really good, i was never a fan of treos
| cirq You have no idea.. I still have s*** stains in my undies
| Lions Yeah, it was absolutely fantastic. I ended up talking to the guys from La Dispute for a while and they were great guys. I thought Fall of Troy would disappoint though, because last time I saw them they played a floor show in a tiny room to about 50 people and it was probably the most intimate and fun show I've ever seen. But still, they were crazy awesome. And I've seen maps before but not rx bandits. I'd assume it was a crazy good show.
| cirq damn, im jealous! i saw tfot with rx bandits and maps
| cirq with the fall of troy? that should be a fantastic show
| BSX I'm just here to post in your box
| devsol i am a very brutal person
| cirq there will be blood
| MassiveAttack If Criterion release it again, but on blu-ray, it'll be a must-buy for me. Its already exceptionally detailed because of the camera on DVD, can't imagine how awesome it'll look in 1080p.
| Lions Lewis blows my mind in that movie. It's less of acting and more of transformation. Paul Dano blew my mind as well. It gets better every time I watch it.
| MassiveAttack First time I watched There Will Be Blood, all I could think about Lewis' amazing performance. And the ending, the ending was fantastic!
| I honestly love country music now. And womanizing too.
| NebSnurb I shall check them out, thank you very a lot
| Knott- Sweeeeeet. "And the nominees for best pop band are: fun. ... fun. ... fun. and ... fun. And the winner is ... THRICE!
| Hey Daid!
