  • AliW1993 As for the current scene, The Twilight Sad, Admiral Fallow and Withered Hand all excellent. King Creosote is well worth a listen. His discog is massive so you're probably best starting with the collaborative record he did with Jon Hopkins. We Were Promised Jetpacks and Idlewild are pretty good too if you're after some more straight forward rock.

  • AliW1993 Thanks man, glad you enjoyed them. Scottish music; where to begin...? The first three Belle And Sebastian records are utterly essential, and they had their moments after that too. Aidan Moffat is the ultimate miserable Scot. He did a fantastic record with Bill Wells last year called Everyone's Getting Older. If you enjoy than then you can move on to his work with Arab Strap, though some of it is pretty hard work.

  • Sowing Thanks man, I love the song btw. Not to push the issue, but i'm kind of guilting everyone into writing a short sound off for their song. The feature looks worlds better with writing...any way you could do a very brief write up and email it to me? sowingsputnik@gmail.com

  • Sowing the link you gave me for your sputnik playlist song isn't a youtube link, so it kind of sticks out like a sore thumb compared to all the other posts. Is there any way you can find a youtube video of it, or maybe pick another song? I hate to ask, but it's the only way I can include it in the feature

  • Jethro42 hmmm not an easy task, but I'll try this way; The bands I suggest you are very different each other. Just let me know what album you enjoyed the most to help me redirect you afterwards. [Yes]-Close to the Edge, [Supertramp]-Crime of the Century, [King Crimson]- In the Court (KC is another 'dark' band), [Camel]-Moonmadness, [Jethro Tull]-Thick as a Brick, [Emerson, Lake and Palmer]-Brain Salad Surgery. It might keep you busy for a while. Welcome to the progressive rock world!
