| Xenophanes Damn seeing your profile makes me all sorts of nostalgic
| Adabelle Just listened to Prag demo, how come they're not in the database any more, did you them?
| CrimsonFloyd Listening to their previous EP, looks like they got much angrier XD
| CrimsonFloyd Thanks for that rec dude, some crazy s*** with more influences than meets the eye.
| CrimsonFloyd Dude just listened to your bands, gotta say Daido Loori is quite amazing, the riffs amazing, the vocal duties are as well. That band is ****en awesome mang.
| Jash Comeeeee baaaaaacccckkkkkkkk
| From seeing what kind of music you enjoy, i'm pretty sure that you'll enjoy Birthgiving Toadhttp://soundcloud.com/birthgiving-toadI'm in the band. Only member. You're very welcome to review one of the albums
| sniper i'm assuming you meant the hardcore band. this s*** is fierce.
| aok hi eno when you come to new york we party? email: ferociouslettuce ..
| Ire make a joke review and give the mods a piece of your mind
| Ire congrats on staff
| robertsona haha i don't even remember rating it a 1.5. that said, i -was- fairly disappointed on my first listen. never really had the urge to go back to it
| EyesWideShut i found a blog called "Lyric Sheetz" that has some of the other Youth Attack bands(Cult Ritual, Nazi Dust, Raw Nerve, etc) and Loudson.gs has alot of HxC lyrics including the Aerosol ep. Check em out if ya want.
| YetAnotherBrick Hey dude, do you think you could maybe give me some noise recs? Sorry if that's really vague, I just don't know how else to phrase it, haha. But the only straight-up 'noise' artists I know are Merzbow, Wolf Eyes, and Kevin Drumm. Along with Metal Machine Music, too. But yeah, anything noisy, you know...I'd really appreciate.
| chambered89 yo write the review for it ore ppl should hear
| chambered89 after a while sin begins to form a crowd
murdering your soul has slowly become allowed
beware of people that care
they pushed it too far
to know where they are
so good prob gon 4.5
| chambered89 whats ur fav dilute? mine's prob "0" **** the lyrics are so ****ing good
| iFghtffyrdmns I was searching your bedroom for any signs of life. Abandoned books and dusted keepsakes were all that I could find.
| Yotimi Since you love old Saves the Day so much, you should probably check out Lifetime - Jersey's Best Dancers. (Can't Slow Down was criticized for ripping it off)
| TheSpirit You have also listened to Natural Law therefore you are my hero
| iarescientists oh so looks like I won't be going to the show tonight cause my friend is dumb and didn't realize i wanted to go to the new york show, since i was already going to be in new york, and got tickets for a mass show.
| chambered89 saw him in Brooklyn last night, s*** was unreal
| Aids cool, it's all good man. I know what it's like to let your pessimism get the best of you around here. You may see me being positive most of the time but I'm actually a pretty big ass myself the vast majority of the time on this website. Keep it real, sir Enotron.
| iarescientists haha no, he didn't approach me. i'm wondering if i should bring any weed to new york. i'm gonna have to take a train or bus so i don't think they search or anything, but it'd be s***ty to get caught with anything. also, i'm staying with my friend who smokes, but his roommates are pretty uptight, so idk how they'd feel. sigh
| Yotimi Couldn't agree more. If you just listen to how the drums/bass work together on SWYA it's unbelievably good. btw, Under the Bds is worth checking out pretty much only for the second half of 'Lonely Nights'.
| Yotimi Yeah, unless they get Eben back, they'll probably never reach "great" status again. I think it's a step up from Under the Boards though (which I really didn't like)
| iarescientists you going to title fight/touche amore on friday? I'm seeing sleep on wednesday and a friend of mine has a place in nyc so i'm gonna hang with him and i'm thinking about going.
| YetAnotherBrick Definitely. I actually started learning C. Thomas Howell a while back, although I don't think the tab I found was entirely correct.
| aok also dj shadow alone is enough to ensure this show's gonna be sick: http://www.last.fm/festival/1964166 Identity Festival
| aok nah you seem pretty straight laced so i figured you'd be more interested in hot spots, tickets, etc. hit me up whenever you feel the urge -- i'm pretty easy to find
| YetAnotherBrick Botch is interesting. There's definitely a lot of hardcore influence there, with the vocals, and the emotional charge all the instruments have. But the riffing and songwriting styles they use are really...different. Sometimes they're metal-oriented, but other times they're all over the place, and even jazzy sounding. Their riffing is pretty unique. So hardcore, metalcore, both kinda work haha
| YetAnotherBrick Really? Hm...I understand Botch, but there's a lot of undeniable metal influence in Converge.
| Yotimi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0_kEWbgGJk
New StD track. Surprisingly not bad
| Ire u ****y bish im so high righ t now
| aok http://bowerypresents.com/event/6534 for example
| aok whatever's just what i say. as in like whatever floats your boat i can find with enough notice. find me on fb or shout at me -- i'm pretty good at finding concert tickets to good shows and i'm guessing that makes me someone you'd like to know
| aok hi eno. shout at me if you ever come to the nyc and i'll get you set up with whatever. peace
| SeaAnemone dude listen to some Crash of Rhinos - Distal if you haven't real good post-hardcore emo stuff from April this year
| pmmets07 small world. i also just found out that the katz brothers from book slave were on this site. small world yet again.
| pmmets07 ah, that's awesome. wait, were you one of the kids looking to buy weed? because some kid from NJ asked me where to get some...
| pmmets07 s*** man, you went to the MHTJ show at the arts barn? It was a sick show. I live in Guilford. Where you from in CT?
| SeaAnemone I'm really impressed with the completeness / structure of the album... often times (even the best) LPs in that vein can seem like a collection of songs but this flows so well. and yeah the production
| SeaAnemone yeah dude I'm so hooked I expected great things and they really pulled through... I showed redsky and he loved it too so I'm glad you like it
| SeaAnemone http://www.mediafire.com/?7u9q9bg1j3l7ba1. new beau navire lp is so sick. highly recommended.
| rasputin no, blastbeats are not used throughout the record. these are blastbeats - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mg2EyWA0Jxc - they are not used throughout the record, most of the drumming on worthless is d-beat or something similiar to it.
| rasputin i was being excessively mean so dont take offense to that, i dont mean it. using the terms 'blastbeats' and 'cookie monster vocals' for a hardcore record that doesn't have them is what im trying to get at. not that i dont think the term 'cookie monster vocals' is ****ing dumb, but it definitely does not apply to this. also blastbeats are on a suffocation record, not on the torture EP. also there is absolutely nothing technical about weekend nachos. it's just general nitpicking, really.
| iarescientists ps here's a rad pic I found someone posted on facebook of me.http://i.imgur.com/X8DKU.pngi'm all the way to the left looking back
| iarescientists yeah i thought i might have seen you, cause there were a couple people who looked familiar, but i couldn't place, and i think i might have happened upon a pic of you you posted on here once, but obviously i'm not going to approach anyone and be like "SUP ENOTRON"I don't typically go to shows in NYC cause it's about a 2 hour trip for me, but if you let me know about some cool shows I'll consider making the drive. I know I'm going to see Sleep
| iarescientists where were you at the mhtj show? i would have liked to fraternize but idk what you look like and seeking out internet people irl is lame
| iFghtffyrdmns couldn't agree more, I think both of those points will be made in my write-up for it haha
| iFghtffyrdmns you still planning on reviewing Secret Somethings: Vol. 2? Sea said you were planning on it awhile ago, though if you're not I was thinking of writing up a review for it.
| Gyromania Man, can you believe how ****ing stupid that ItallianStallion dude was being yesterday?
| SeaAnemone sup eno we're creating a contrib group on lastfm because willie says on the weekly news thing we'll have the contribs' top plays of the week with the staff's instead of the users (because it's always the same) so here's the link to the group if you wanna join:http://www.last.fm/group/Sputnikmusic.com Contributors
| SeaAnemone ok that makes sense-- and yeah... I was plannin on it, think that's ok? that's kinda where your expertise lies anyway, right?
| SeaAnemone it's all yours dude. i didn't even know there was a new one haha... you've heard it?also: i wasn't gonna start a thread because i'm not friends with CP, I figure we can just compile a few soundoffs and then i'll run the list i was gonna post by you on facebook once we have some stuff to work with... and as for twinkle daddys haha-- i've heard the term, not all that familiar with what it means though?
| SeaAnemone thanks dude i'll try that one out then... also (feel free to say so if you think this is a stupid idea) but would you have any interest in helpin put together a list with me and phlebas about some of the best midwestern emo (dumb term?)?
| SeaAnemone is into it. over it worth getting into?
| porch they were kinda jangly, really melodic 90's indie, worth a listen imo
| porch have you listened to vitreous humor? check out posthumous if you haven't
| Ire i wrote haikus... rules
| Hep Kat you'll dig this, it's pretty gnarlay: http://musicasheroin.blogspot.com/2011/03/innards-tracing.html
| davsoi Have to say; love your taste in music. Quite similar. Tossing this around some, would love if you'd give it a listen.http://www.mediafire.com/?5573bnzb19pec5z
| Bulldog Thanks. Your comparison of Shaolin vs Wu-Tang to Apollo Kids in your Raekwon review.
| Bulldog hey eno whats your real name? if you dont want to tell me then thats fine, i think a first and last name would just look better in a review than "eno" (gonna quote you on something)
| Hep Kat http://depositfiles.com/en/files/rdu0izj9a?ref=tastro
| SeaAnemone I'm pretty ignorant as far as most electronic (sorry if I'm misusing the term) music goes-- but been digging Justice - Cross so much lately... I'm well aware it's not the most adept band in the world, but if you had any rec.s along those lines (upbeat, fast-paced, catchy, etc.) they'd be appreciated and listened to!
| scissorlocked hey man, I wrote a review for Brian Eno/Harold Budd's The pearl.I know you love Eno so if you want, check any time. Thanks!
| conradtao http://www.mediafire.com/?57saj4y4i507g2a should be legit let me know if it isn't
| Jash Oh for sure brah, I laughed so hard when I read it and aids had a good laugh too. I dunno man, I have so many albums that just move me a lot, I just thought it was funny cause you're the first person who's really pointed out my large collection of 5's hahaha
| Jash nice spokes soundoff hahaha
| Bitchfork http://www.mediafire.com/?vnqtwuynqgn#1
Guernica - Shinseiki E No Unga
japanese progressive pop with huge classical and cabaret influences and you'd love it.
| FelixCulpa Couldn't help to see that your "digging" Daedelus which leads me to believe you might enjoy Jogger's This great pressure. I know they are friends with Daedelus and I think they have done shows together. Hope you enjoy them. And your profile pic here that is Kristian Matsson isn't it? Man with guitar, very Swedish looking background (From Sweden myself so I think I am right).
| SeaAnemone gladly :)http://plixid.com/2011/01/22/spokes-everyone-i-ever-met-2011-mp3/
| Sowing I don't know what you are talking about so i guess i will look that up now
| Sowing yeah, his is the only one that really matters haha. makes me laugh out loud every time
| Sowing you should make that your sound off. every contributor sound off can be a sappy personal story
| Sowing haha thanks...I don't have a firm enough grasp on it to pick out what the best thing about it is, so I just kinda summarized how it is making me feel. With more listens I can see this being a 4.5 easily...and maybe just maybe a classic but that would take a whole lot more warming up to this
| Hep Kat you would prolly like this homez http://toxicbreedsfunhouse.blogspot.com/2011/01/end-of-year-sorrowful-and-immaculate.html
| conradtao I've been listening mostly to the new Destroyer, Deerhoof, and Braids. You should definitely hear Deerhoof vs.Evil.. and Yuck is quite good as well.
| conradtao you know, i don't really hear braids as being derivative of animal collective but i can see where you're coming from. what new records are you digging at the moment?
| Electric City yeah thats the part im confused about cuz that doesnt make sense
| conradtao Nah, I totally understand your point.
| Raccoonology Mallard is awesome, still hoping to see them live if they come to the east coast.
| Aids I know you're not my biggest fan but I just wanted to say well done on getting contrib. your writing was definitely good enough to warrant a promotion.
| Yotimi I secretly stalk your ratings so props for the promotion. Also good to see some love for In Reverie.
| Bulldog i know you hate me and s***. but congratulations on your appointment to contributor dude. you earned it
| SeaAnemone sorry man I don't :( and don't feel obligated too if you feel uncomfortable! Trust me-- whenever I add a sputnik friend to facebook I always add the disclaimer: sorry I sound like a dick but please don't comment on my wall or pics and stuff much as I like to keep sputnik and life separate in general... so yeah if you want I can add you or I can just fill you in through email on the important stuffs if that's better.
| Sowing whoah enotron in the big leagues!? welcome to our awesome group of contributors, i hope you enjoy it as much as i do =)
| SeaAnemone hey mr. enotron now that you're a contributor (THE COOLEST PEOPLE ON THE SITE 4SURE) I was gonna invite you to a little contrib. thread we have going on facebook it's really nice we talk about lots of things there and I was gonna make a new thread to include the incomers. but yeah if you don't feel comfortable giving away your facebook cuz you want to keep sput outta your life that's totally cool i understand trust me, but let me know if you want in. also it's how we communicate for the...
| Knott- although Dave and Trey can't seem to agree on whether I have things to improve on or should just keep writing. It's just brought about fatigue and I can't be ****ed to keep contributing when the result could easily be the same next time around because let's face it who ****ing knows? And there are other places I can focus my work to better effect than being ignored here, but hey, I might come back under a random unknown alias and apply again - I'd have had more chance this time, after all.
| Knott- Hey dude. Congratulations on contributor, welcome to the little label that actually means **** all whatsoever ;) haha. I'm not the kind of guy that will decide whether to keep writing here or not, it will just happen or it won't - and at the moment it looks like a negative but we'll see. It feels like a major slap in the face; however many people say "they didn't take your position," they're randoms with imperfect writing I can't see as superior to mine,
| sniper hey, congratulations brother, you deserve it.
| qwe3 grats man you deserved it brofist etc
| Willie Your designation will change soon ;)
| Ire u didnt deserve it and i hate u but congrats :)
| liledman nice work man, congratulations.
| porch additional generic comment of congratulations - good job
| Fugue Nice one Eno, congrats.
| Slum Congrats, dude. You earned it
| tinkrbel congrats Eno, I thought you would've got it last time but nice to see you didn't have to wait too long
| robertsona congrats on contrib. put in a good word for me man ive been trying that s*** for years
| Bitchfork ok so you need trash dog-namaste http://www.mediafire.com/?zyntm4no0wn
fun-as-**** hardcore punk noisy as ****. riff-filled but lots of guitar noise. planes of sonic destruction. technical as s***. distortion out the ass. 13 mins. GO!
| Aids sweet profile pic by the way
| Aids dude Eno, why the **** do you hate me all of a sudden?I seem to remember some good times way back when
| Enotron http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/35808/Extra-Life-Made-Flesh/
| SeaAnemone I've been listening to it so so much lately and I was excited to see it on your year-end list! (hightide) and it's awesome seeing so many fantastic albums in your recently rated section... that Kickball album is random but a lot of fun, and STD is goooood pop-punk
| agnes i just made this cause i couldn't remember spaceisgolden's password. whatever.
| SeaAnemone oh, and what are your thoughts on the new Hightide Hotel? I'm considering reviewing it
| SeaAnemone well... I haven't listened to it much in a while but... it's definitely not in the vocals, it's all in the guitar lines, which are often bouncy and sorta ebullient, especially by screamo standards. listen to the beginning of "september" for a good example of it. and it's perfectly conceivable that you don't hear it that way... i wasn't expecting many to concur with me when I wrote that review
| Deviant. That's where editing soundoffs comes into play
| klap i resent that generalization haha. and i have it downloaded haven't heard it yet
| klap haha i'm not leet enough it doesn't connect with mah pea brain :(
| Aids "a 4.5 as opposed to a 4? what the ****, guys"Haha you might want to edit that now that you bumped it
| Xenophanes Yeah I see where you are coming from, but for what its worth I think you'd be a great contributor as well....
| Willie Yes, they do have plans to do that but probably not until after the holidays since the release schedule sucks through the rest of 2010.
| Xenophanes Sorry for image spamming your thread, my b.... :(
| Sowing haha you certainly did. thanks for everything man, your comments on my reviews were always pretty helpful.
| Bitchfork could you send me not the link to the new snowing album but the zip so I can email it to my friend who refuses to d'l s***? he adores kinsella so i thought it was perfect. atracey56@gmail.com
| Bitchfork would you want to listen to something i wrote in the ambient bm vein?
| chambered89 you called my review painfully wrong i didn't like that
| Bitchfork http://www.mediafire.com/?tlimxmyhijg
if anything you'll think there's too much spoken word/post-metal influence.
| Electric City once i 5 kanye, then yes. but tron is going down to a 4.5. so three
| SeaAnemone hooray for you finally checking out Heir! :D
| Enotron http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/31710/You-Slut!-Critical-Meat/
| Bitchfork Cool cool. I was hoping for "liked the string climax" but whatever's cool with you
| Bitchfork I just have to add 5 secs of ambience and if you email me at atracey56@gmail.com I'll have sent it to the adress you mailed me within the half hour.
| Bitchfork Also I don't think you told me why you rated my split so high. (not complaining just wondering)
| Bitchfork Would you be willing to listen to a black metal track I made? Akin to a more atmospheric Wold with William Basinski undertones.
| Spec "I am trying to break your heart is really beautiful, in this mildly twisted sortaway."Couldn't agree more.
| Spec No problem. Good luck.
| SpaceGhost Hey, I'm new around here but I noticed your avatar is GZA's 'Liquid Swords.' It's one of my fav's and I was wondering if you could you rec me any other albums like that?
| Bitchfork You're cool with drony noisy guitars right?
| Xenophanes Hey that Kanye West link you posted is from a leak, so you might wanna that post, last guy to post a leak got banned for a month!
| Romulus i'm with you, i think the second half is definitely a lot more hit-or-miss but the quality stays around the same. i'm feeling a 4 for now but there's definitely potential to grow/grow off depending on how all the gimmicks and such he throws in age with time.
| Romulus me too man i think i might actually bust out of my reviewing slump for this. what are you thinking of rating it?
| DiceMan Naah it was more like associating incredibly greedy corporations that care nothing about consumers with Enron, which is true especially since they have recordings of board members laughing about charging Granny from California $250 for a KwH
| DiceMan Do you seriously not know what Enron is?
| Observer To be honest, the link i had was taken down a while back. not really sure how else to get it other than searching filetubes or just buying it. Sorry, dude.
| Romulus eno i just wanted to let you know how much joy it brings me to bump your soundoffs
| KeithStone582 How are my comments spamming and your comments productive. we right the exact same s***.
| chambered89 http://limelinx.com/files/015ca0df6b034c5ba726e3a33d8902f2
| robin most of my 1s are based on really really awful listening experiences i have with the album. i used to LOVE white1 by sunno))) but then my friend played it to me at 3am. but yeah the album sucks.
| SeaAnemone 99% sure it's Hans, for various reasons
| SeaAnemone aka drunk wish i werent on sputnik ugh but im leavin soon to go out hooray!
| SeaAnemone lol just gt back from a halllween part too :)
