| Urinetrouble radiohead-amnesiac and and flaming lips-clouds taste metallic are like a 6/5
| robertsona "probably isn't a 1 but EAI is such a stupid douche bag term." couldwin!!!! thank you!!!
| Bitchfork lol at torpor sound off there's so much worse genre-wise than eai
| Bitchfork http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/torpor
http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/unfathoms
so you can keep up
| bungy it's poorly produced "sadcore" that is either boring or amazing depending on how much you currently hate yourself
| TMobotron word yeah thats one of my favs as is bostogne blues. whole thing is pretty cool i thought, one of my favs from 2010.
| Deviant. There's actually still a ton of stuff I haven't rated but I haven't heard of them. Will check it out but be warned: I really don't like AC at all. Cheers Rabbithead
| TMobotron crippled black phoenix, the album was "i, vigilante" (though i havent heard any of their other releases to say if they're great or not), good luck with it if you decide to give it a shot though, hope you enjoy.
| JWT155 Yup, I'm a Junior here and my Dad's an Alum. Was a great game but a tough loss, only 160 odd days till football season.
| JWT155 Penn State. Their performances seem anything but insincere.
| JWT155 It's not bad, but people with s***ty tastes in music jizzing over their first exposure to folk and stuff pisses me off, it's not the bands fault for that though. I'm still pissed my school lost in the 1st round :/
| JWT155 s***, I'm not gonna look at it again it's so bad though 3/4 final four teams are still in it. BTW finally did listen to the Mumford
| silentpotato he does indeed, either way got em both dl'd now ill letchya know what i think when i get to em
| silentpotato funnily enough i downloaded both of those ages ago. cant for the life of me remember them so im dl'ing them again right now
| Kimm I'm serious. You really are crossing a line. Please take it down.
| Ire Couldn't agree with you more. This site has some low moments but i've never seen it like this before.
| aok radiohead openers
| Ire yeh it's great.
| Ire checked out the new boris yet?
| silentpotato ahaha, growin up man!! that slice would have been 100% 4 years ago
| AggravatedYeti looks like I'm having rabbit stew for dinner...SOME ONE HAS TO PAY. Also--dream-pop bible? Part of me feels like you, Eric and myself should tinychat sometime and do this s***e.
| Aids yah I saw that this morning. I signed off after my little Sun Kil Moon bitchfest. Imma check some of that s*** out though, thanks.
| bungy I wish man! To be honest, there are almost no punk influences in his stuff so he doesn't sound like any folk punk artists. If I come across/think of something great in a similar vein I'll be sure to give you a shout.
| Yotimi tbh I've only heard a few songs, they were ok but not something i'd normally listen to - why do you ask?
| aok rabbit or habit, habit or rib, rabbit or habit, habit or rib
| Yotimi Well maybe just a tad. The dying horns and the outro to It Sings Me are some of the best things I've heard in a while though.
| porch yeah its missing a lot of stuff but i just picked those records as a general overview of the music i like
| Yotimi http://spruceleaves.bandcamp.com/ Sword Through the Face is the greatest thing ever. Play it LOUD. And It Sings Me is Epic.
| Yotimi I'll make a list of pop/punkish stuff
| Yotimi no, I got everything except his self-titled. I kept finding corrupted files when I tried to dl it and still haven't gotten around to getting it.
| TheIllmatics Lol. I'm stupid but you gave Nas' Stillmatic a 1.5 when it's one of the most conscious and intelligent hip hop albums.
| DeafMetal Also check out that Waxwing album. It's good stuff.
| Yotimi Awesome dude. Yeah, I love them
| porch yeah man they're on my punk list. cut is great
| bab808 i have 1... and only 1 problem with your ratings. Young Team at 2.5?? wtf??? other than that, solid taste
| Bitchfork listen to hong chulki-amplified WC and - Sachiko M, Toshimaru Nakamura
| Copperkid64 hey man you gave me some recs a while ago. on another band hunt... think you could help out? much appreciated
| SeaAnemone eeeerrrrrrr Dan Mangan is sooooooo good dude
| Electric City thanks dude, i really appreciate that. that's why i liked your soundoff so much too, i felt like we were in total agreement. hi5 for liking music
| Ire nah it's awesome
| Electric City i agree with it so much, at least on how human it sounds. my review'll be done today
| CelestialDust loved the soundoff for tkol, but I don't quite think it's a classic
| Polymath Hell yeah man, animal collective are the best. And I'm loving your King of Limbs rating, i thought i was one of the only ones.
| aok i better see a rabbit review on king of limbs pretty soon or im gonna start quoting you
| Ire great king of limbs soundoff
| FearThyEvil I'm asking for obscure music since I know most of the hardcore/metalcore bands on this site that I could find.
| Sowing glad my subtle humor gets noticed on this site ;)
| Yotimi R U serious?? But really just got home so listening to it the first time. Damn good so far.
| OutOfMyself amnesiac is your favorite also? ily2 then. Us non-conformist Radiohead fans gotta stick together.
| Polymath thanks man, that means so much you dont even know it. Leaf House amirit?
| SloppyMilkshake It's really growing on me. Very hypnotic and their most rhythm based yet (which is awesome, seeing as I drum. Phil is ****ing amazing on this thing)
| Willie I just woke up so I haven'td anything. There aren't any waiting for approval right now, but that doesn't mean dave or jom didn't any last night.
| sonictheplumber dude i am listening to their first record right now, it's excellent, thank you so much
| sonictheplumber no but johnny (420yeah666yeah69, if you remember him) loves can
| BigHans Its funny you mentioned my GLA review. I basically ripped myself off when I wrote my Born to Run review, which kind of states the exact same point.
| Yotimi I'm at work now, so I'll check that out when I get home.
| LegendofPittman Nothing much, what about you? I figured we would be neighbors with the Radiohead love and all. haha
| Yotimi check the soundoffs for Jens... It's pretty good actually, I just need to listen more
| JWT155 10,000 Days a 1.5? Tisk tisk...
| sniper sung tongs is def my favorite, so good.
| sniper was i right is sung tongs yr favorite?
| JWT155 Usually I go chronologically, Bends through In Rainbows but I decided to go the opposite and give In Rainbows extra love this week to see the transition to the new album. No doubt they'll be back to being my #1 played artist at the end of the week.
| JWT155 I was pretty ecstatic myself.
| JWT155 Soooo how many loads did you blow when you heard about the new album?
| porch the bastard noise - a culture of monsters
| Deviant. No to both, sorry. I should've made that a little more clearer though, I edited it into the rules
| Yotimi Let me guess - Park, Saves the Day, and Ulrich Schnauss?
| Deviant. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5INL49WK
| Athom the Live at (Insert Prison Here) albums
| dfumagalli236 hey so I want to get a nick cave album but I don't know where to start. You seem like you'd know a lot about his kind of stuff. Any recs?
| Mordecai. nah dude, i'm more of a console gamer
| twlight what up doosh nice two ratings ya got there
| Deviant. Way to knock a brother down, i'll be sure to cry myself to sleep tonight
| relativeworld Thanks for the recs. I like Wold stuff, too. kind of irrelevant, just spent last night with "Stratification"
| Deviant. You mean you're not a rabbit?? Well **** me sideways
| Deviant. I'm not sure if you're trying to be smart or funny, but your attempts at belittlement aren't amusing seeing as how nothing I've said is obscure in the slightest. Just because you've never heard the term doesn't mean I'll refrain from saying it, even at the cost of your fuzzy little head exploding
| Deviant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres - can I use any of these?
| Irving Thanks for your comment on my LP review, couldwinarabbit. If you've got a moment, could I ask you about the difference in quality which you perceive in my positive and negative reviews? I'd really like to improve my levels of verve when writing a negative review, so if you could briefly outline why and how you felt that my negative reviews were weaker, I'd be very much obliged. Thanks!
| Apollo that's awesome man thanks for the headsup, I may try and make it to the Agalloch show, not really a fan of Weakerthans
| Bitchfork waaaayyyyy overrated but def. not bad. should gimme noise.
| Bitchfork not really. love ire and song was okay rock and roll licked feces
| Bitchfork http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSb32kOGWdw, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ReOJk9z01Y, http://funeralstench.blogspot.com/2010/11/vacuus-demo.html, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLuMiE2ABpQ, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKoYWpH00bg, http://funeralstench.blogspot.com/2010/04/swamp-toad-mire-ensemble.html
loaded you up with random s*** you'd like from the genre. don't give up if you don't like one or two. TONS of variety here.
| Bitchfork ooh yay!
okay would you be open to that but much more lo-fi and noisy? also, when you get the chance listen to forest poetry by him. his whole discog is great though.
| Bitchfork try listening to this. if you like it then i think i can break you into less accessible bm and you can officially blogstalk even though everyone will laugh at the idea of rabbit listening to ildjarn or vacuus or vlad tepes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuiPsRAz7wc
| qwe3 yeah me too: dragon age, fallout, oblivion, morrowind, mass effect 1
| qwe3 yeah man bioware and bethesda have sick music in their games.
| qwe3 yeah i have that. oblivion soundtrack is great too
| qwe3 haven't heard it yet and i don't plan on it. dont think it'd be that good
| Bitchfork http://www.mediafire.com/?vnqtwuynqgn#1 Guernica - Shinseiki E No Unga japanese progressive pop with huge classical and cabaret influences and you'd love it.
| qwe3 oh also try this album out: Walt Mink - El Producto. It's insanely catchy late 80s indie. it's just so good. gonna looser it later but yeah get it immediately
| qwe3 nice, glad you like the blog dude. if you want some really good metal try maudlin of the Well, Neurosis, Black Sabbath, Panopticon, Warning, Pelican
| qwe3 sweet, what stuff did you get off it? uhh well eno is on it, as is essence/ulsufyring, seaanemone is on it but rarely writes, and so is chambered. chambered, eddie and I are the main contribs atm i'd say
| porch only heard occasional songs but never really an album
| Bitchfork instrument disorder, senzuri champion, tokyo anal dynamite and yellow trash bazooka are awesome.
also check out pure's fetor if you want some haunting power electronics. fave pe of ever.
| Bitchfork is noise rock with humor and intensity and oddly catchy properties.
could be understood or appreciated drunk easily.
just don't get something like "night" which is a field recording of someone taking a s***/getting head (they got dumb for a while) and then if someone has a mediafire of "art is over" certainly don't get it because it's probably just a virus because the actual album was just an octopus tentacle and a card that said "art is over"
| Bitchfork they are a band and by now i'm taking it you've never heard of them
| Bitchfork my favorite by me is probably lay down and sleep or that split with witchxrapist. you might like this. not by me. by gashkadin (aka kount): http://www.mediafire.com/?yqjyq5nxxzz
| Bitchfork really? rating? (cough cough you should rate it it's in the database or at least you should see the album art because it's pretty bitching)
| Bitchfork 6 mins of analog-esque noise i made. sent it to your hotmail
| Meatplow I don't have a definitive list or anything, but you've probably encountered much of this stuff anyway. it's a pretty contentious way of categorising bands, but it is some fun stuff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protopunk
| Meatplow pre-punk or "protopunk" (if you use that label) has some pretty great bands if you ask me
| Shaq Boards of Canada are a solid group and Music Has the Right to Children is a great release. i find their strongest moments to be the more dehumanizing moments. still, i was mostly talking about groups that seek to combine live vocals and traditional songwriting with electronic music
| JViney I was trying to rate all Fall albums at the time, but fell asleep at my keyboard due to the high number! I'll get on it later today. Glad to see another Fall fan hanging around the place. HE IS NOT APPRECIATED!
| Yotimi that'd be some dedicated work if i were
| Yotimi nope. Can't give away who it is though
| porch have you heard secret chiefs 3?
| Meatplow Rapeman, they only released one album Two Nuns and A Pack Mule and a handful of EP's and singles. In some ways I think it is more refined than Big Black. Also, check this out - http://bottleimpproductions.bandcamp.com/album/everything-was-altered Free 2011 release, subtle breakcore/IDM. Reminds me a lot of Venetian Snares.
| Bitchfork my rym thing goes like... 5=perfect. 4.5=could be a 5 one day but not now. 4=fantastic 3.5=excellent 3=cool 2.5=the good side of the whatever spectrum 2=a waste of time 1.5=a foul, loathsome thing to dread, 1=miserable 0.5 denotes those things whose makers should be shot.
| Bitchfork idk. 4/5 for me with my new more strict rating scale. that is for ****ing songs about.
agalloch is really hit or miss with me. i think that album in particular sucks. big time. you might like it, though. idk. it's been a cluster**** of opinions around the board for that one. i'd just get the mantle or pale folklore if i were you instead. just skip ashes and marrow. :c
| Bitchfork i hear you like songs about ****ing
| Meatplow idk about that they both rival each other for me. Big Black has such a monstrous, inhuman sound, just kills me. have you heard Albini's other projects?
| Meatplow hell yes. I love me some atomizer as well
| Maniac! Possibly, but I'm on a posthardcore kick right now.
| BigHans Yeah that usually doesnt end well
| qwe3 i dont consider big black folk punk but yeah i love that album
| qwe3 nah not a big fan of folk punk but cheers
| qwe3 Also if you like trip-hop Wax Tailor - Tales of the Forgotten Melodies
| qwe3 uh well Jon Mueller - The Whole is an experimental percussion album with dulcimer (plucked string instrument) and droning vocal layers. really cool and epic sounding. he was a percussionist with heaps of bands like Bon Iver, Volcano Choir and Collections Of Colonies Of Bees. Its one of my favs of 2010
| Athom probably because people hate their latest album and the one before that got a lot of s***, but their first 3 albums are solid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPS3P8t2Y3c and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wkZGMktFCw
| Athom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nfhxXfs4pM
| Athom you need Against Me!'s Reinventing Axl Rose. its got a bit more rawness than the aforementioned stuff but good lord if it isnt one of the most powerful sing-a-long albums ever (even if at times it requires you to take out the lyrics sheet haha)
| Athom I actually got the chance to see them 3 times in 2010 (the second time was them opening for frank turner). Im glad you like it.
| Apollo I hate the Fox. Too many 'bros'. My fav place is the Whale and Ale up on Victoria street. It's a classic English pub. The Duke of Wellington is pretty awesome too, just off of King. The bar maids wear Scottish tartan short skirts and thigh highs. Sexy to say the least.
| Apollo nice! it's a dive but the tacos are dirt cheap and taste amazing. Mmm...tacos. I think I'l make some now
| Athom you should check out the band Andrew Jackson Jihad. they're just neurotic jangly folkpunk that has this inanely flippant lyrics that are at the same time poignant. i would start with their latest album Can't Maintain.
| porch i finally got 77 live, its cool
| Knott- it's just that their lyrics resonate well with me too. Again, not entirely sure what you mean by making you feel good about yourself but yeah. Sleep Is For The Week and Poetry Of The Deed have some gems on them, and the new EP is essential.
| Knott- There are patches of things other than Love Ire And Song that you NEED: Try This At Home (his best song), Dan's Song, Sons of Liberty, The Road, The Real Damage, Worse Things Happen At Sea, Nashville Tennessee - but his other 2 records are pretty good, and his latest EP is phenomenal. You HAVE to see him live, too. Not sure what you mean about making you feel good about yourself, the closest thing for me is Bayside if you've never heard them, but they're nothing like Turner musically,
| qwe3 youtubed a few songs and i liked them a lot, thanks man
| conradtao sup bro, what have you been diggin recently
| BigHans Never heard of it, thanks for letting me know about it.
| bailar14 Haha no. I think you might actually guess it soon! Def right direction even more.
| bailar14 ahha not really redsky. thats just a joke i like to make.
| bailar14 ahha naw. ive managed to accumulate a good number of posts during my time on sputnik. although youre def heading in the right direction.
| bailar14 hmm i dont think so senor. my main kinda posts now and again. but not too much. maybe once or twice a day on a few threads.
| EVedder27 record producer maybe? idk. I would take it over pretty much that entire album
| EVedder27 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW2ZKNch9sII posted a link before idk what happened to it
| EVedder27 Been whoring this song out and thought you'd really like this. Kinda like Blue Jeans
| Athom speaking of your post-rap idea. get sole and the skyrider band's Plastique and listen to the song "Black"
| Bitchfork Be lucky I didn't tell you to just listen to ever lln tape ever produced
| bailar14 enrique tries senor. but thanks a bunch. it makes enrique glad that he is able to rec the mighty rabbit stuff. mainly cuz i always thought you were like a super elitist before. but enrique has radiohead as one of his top bands too. mainly everyone should, cuz theyre that good.
| bailar14 yeah i think i remember reading your justification for it. something about ratings and some complicated thing. it was many threads ago. but enrique can still try to rec obscure ambient/post rock so its all good.
| bailar14 !!!!!! oh really! oh okay. just wondering. cuz theyre similar artists and you dont have any ratings so i dont always know what youe listened to.
| bailar14 if you like the gaslight anthem, youd def like the state lottery. they good.
| bailar14 no worries senor. those are to be listened to in the quiet and peaceful places. you know how it goes. but i take every chance i get to get plastered in celebration. i found out my limit for alcohol, again. its the same, but this time i can do it on an empty stomach.
| bailar14 take your time senor rabbit. enrique will always be waiting. he has the patience and such. and best of luck to you. i raped my last quarter of schooling.
| bailar14 its is all good senor. enrique understands busy lives and such. no problem here. but do check out if you can senor and report back.
| JWT155 Haha, I did too. I've faded out of gaming to the point here I rarely play anything anymore but I'm sooooooo excited for Skyrim.
| GeorgeCostanza here's a list of my ratings from my old profile: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/uservote.php?memberid=437182
| Josh D. I'm going to try and do that more often
| Athom i love the game. i probably should
