| Kaiwaz Hey Jamie! This is Aiwaz if you haven't already guessed. Just wanted to show you a video I recorded last night, tell me what you think! I messed up the first few seconds but it gets better. Feedback appreciated. Thanks Aqualung!https://youtu.be/23y7W1xpclU
| TheSpaceMan Merry Christmas Jamie, jam that JT Christmas alb
| Atari hey bud, you might dig this new Florist album - If Blue Could Be Happiness. kind of reminds me of grouper so I thought of you :]
| Jethro42 Hey bud! There is a new Sputnik prog tournament you might find interesting: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=177103
| Jethro42 You're too kind, my friend. Well, there was a time when I was surrounded by lots of nice users (so It was easy to be nice haha), and you're a part of it ;) Most of them are not here anymore, and it brings me nostalgia. Now I feel a bit lost among the new generation of sputters, but I still have fun, so yeah, I'm still around. Keep on rocking, mate!
| Jethro42 Hey Jamie, thanks for you mentioned me in that list of nicest guys. I'm touched. I'm never really far from Sput even if I don't frequent it as much as I used to. Cheers buddy!
| KjSwantko Haha makes sense. When I clicked your profile I was so perplexed and was like who is this imposter?
| KjSwantko Dude am I losing my mind or didn't you used to listen to a lot of metal?
| TheSpaceMan hey you still enjoying photography as a hobby? i remember you having a list of some cool stuff you've taken a few years ago, and i just saw your profile pic which i presume is a picture of yours, considering its in similar style
| butcherboy i remembered my comment in the Speak No Evil thread and wrote up Juju.. check it out, dude..
| Cygnatti i tried my best... http://i.imgur.com/Lv0ypy8.png
| RadicalEd Hey, hope you're doing alright. I was wondering, have you giving the latest Innercity Ensemble album a listen? (From 2016) I stumbled upon it recentely and it seemed like something that might be right up your ally (and I happen to think it's totally awesome). Cheers. It's not up on Spotify but on YT:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUJcIiYvh_Y

| hal1ax https://amnfx.bandcamp.com/album/moscow-beat ---- some decent outsider house from this year. u might digg
| Titan Same. I was in the office 90% of the time. Since then, I went in to the Control Center.
| Titan Jamie dude, i was a network planner for a few years for the electric utility i work for......probably similar gigs
| Atari when I finally get a review typed up for black bombaim
| Sniff Oh No had some sexy basslines for sure. Have you checked Daedelus newest?
| Sniff I think it's one of those genres that I can enjoy but it doesn't speak to me at a personal level. You see what I mean? I dig early Chinese Man and Gramatik and last years Oddisee quite a lot.
| Sniff Just listened to the Karriem album. It was good but the whole idea of beats gets a bit long winded. Whaddyathink?
| Jots I have new Talaboman DLd so maybe I'll check that
| Jots nice, lemme know how it sounds. i haven't had time to check the whole thing
| Atari glad to hear it man. I checked the Green Plastic EP by MJ Guider as well and also really enjoyed it, I'm assuming you've heard it?
| Atari man you or somebody needs to review that MJ Guider album
| RadicalEd Yeah need to get on that new Benoit as well. Kranky is a cool lable with a lot of worthwile artists, but I think they could to better when it comes to promoting their stuff.
| RadicalEd I just checked out MJ Guider. Very cool stuff.
| Atari Awesome bro, I'll be checking that s*** out today!
| Orb ahha one of those albums eh. Makes them all the better if you got em
| Orb Also where can I get Ichiko Aoba's 0%?
| Orb Thanks for the info ! I do plan on reviewing more often.
| Orb hey man saw you jam EPROM. Curious, how does become a "contributor" here? I've probably added close to a 100 albums to the database in the past month lol
| Frippertronics duh, i knew you were being sarcastic but those sound cool
| Frippertronics not the reaction i was looking for :/ but good enough. anything good coming out in the next few weeks?
| Frippertronics Raaaah, my man must be deaf if he likes visions and not dis. This is way superior, man's gettin' vexed now; Rah. My man needs to re-listen; chattin' s*** when he clearly don't know what he is on about. Rah. (a classic for my jethro tull devotee)
| SandwichBubble Hey, I re-rec'd you something on my rec list: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=170626 :)
| Torontonian No i haven't heard it! i'm still getting around to listening to the rest of his discography (i've heard lasted, precis, and sonnet). How do you feel about it?
| Torontonian Hey Jamie, sorry i didn't respond to your last post for a couple months (the one about ambient recs). I actually managed to listen to Ian Craig-Centres. To be honest, i don't really remember much of it other than the fact that i didn't particularly care for it. The other one's are still on the backburner for the moment. :)
| Jots new Zeroh album https://thehitandrun.bandcamp.com/album/tinnitus-hnr65
| Insignia777 Hey. It's Insignia. God, I was such a dick back a couple of years ago. My reviews for so terrible. I was just browsing a couple of hours ago reading a bunch of Rush reviews, and I saw my old review and I'm like "wtf is this even still doing on here?". So, for s***s and giggles, I checked it out and I'm like, god, this is so bad. Like, I deserved all that hate in the comments cause I was an a** hole.
| iloveyouall for you: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/71663/Måla-Carnal-Sense/#lastpost
| Sniff Listened to all of your recs. I'm pleased!
| zakalwe The Thee oh seas live one is well worth checking then? Will get on it soon as.
| MrSirLordGentleman Since you're one of the few glam lovers in here... what do you think of W.A.S.P.?
| Sniff Any other recs from this year? Not necessarily in the vein of that release. Just shoot away!
| Sniff Cool beans on that new Fennesz/o'rourke
| TheNotrap Everything's good man. I look on the internet don't worry, thanks anyway :)
| TheNotrap Cheers JT, I hope everything's ok. If I remember correctly, you live in London right? I will visit London this month, do you know some music stores with a good/large metal collection? I usually buy some music during the holidays.
| Torontonian Cool. Looking forward to it. That album has such a nostalgic vibe it's honestly unbelievable.
| Torontonian Hey jamie, ik it's been a while but I was checking sole of your lists a while back and I really came to enjoy benoit poulard-sonnet quite a considerable amount. The album has become quite special for me so for that I thank you but I was also wondering if you had any ambient recommendations that are in the same vein apart from the rest of his solo albums.
| RunOfTheMill Hey Jamie, I was wondering what your thoughts were on the new Vektor record, if you've checked it out yet.
| TVC15 I just want to give you a massive thank you for reccing the Miles/Robert album. I've been listening to it nonstop all day and, unless your going to, I'm olanning on writing up a review for it to give it the recognition it deserves. I've already got an intro worked out whichh involves Spike Lee's movie Do the Right Thing and Nujabes lol
| Frippertronics Just browsing around and saw that again. Don't worry, he's nowhere to be found.
| Frippertronics Raaaah, my man must be deaf if he likes visions and not dis. This is way superior, man's gettin' vexed now; Rah. My man needs to re-listen; chattin' s*** when he clearly don't know what he is on about. Rah.
| sailSAway Thanks a bunch. You were very thorough!
| Atari Wrote a little track of the day blurb on Kevin Morby if u wanna check it out haha.
| Atari yeah nothing beats Dylan so it's a dangerous comparison haha. His vocals sound like Dylan at times, but I think there are definitely enough differences musically to prevent it from being just another Dylan clone. still not sure how I feel about the whole album, but several songs are quite excellent. happy listening bro
| Atari also, an interesting tidbit: he's the former bassist for Woods
| Atari yeah I actually discovered it today as well per SowingSeason's list, but I immediately realized you'd probably dig it after hearing it. definitely some Dylan vibes going on, so just figured I'd mention it ;) Dorothy and Black Flowers are two initial standouts for me
| Atari yo, check kevin morby - singing saw for something similar to Dylan/Tallest Man on Earth
| FearThyEvil I guarantee that guy is a troll. If not, well then that's embarrassing. Either way, I appreciate the help in that thread. It's been me and him back and forth and I can't believe the s*** he's saying.
| Atari ah, no rush man. you're just one of the only guys on this site I know who digs them so that's why I've been wondering haha. I think it's similar to the last tallest man on earth record in the fact that it's more expansive and accessible, but doesn't sacrifice their great songwriting
| Atari so did you check the rest of that woods album? just curious how you think it stacks up to their other stuff, I might review it
| Atari sweet man, hope you dig it. the full album is streaming too :]
| Atari I actually wrote a blurb for the opening track on the new woods album on the staff track of the day blog that nobody reads if you wanna check it out haha. I'm loving the new one, gonna revisit their last few albums today
| Atari I'm actually gonna have to revisit their last 2 albums, but I just figured I'd mention it because I remembered u digging them. Idk there's like subtle country and Latin influences so it's kinda different than their last one if I'm not mistaken
| Atari This new woods album is pretty great man
| BigHans Bro just one question, do you still dig the Rawk? Looks like you are totally into underground ambient/electronic/trip hop stuff. Wheres the WASP bro.
| tempest-- I think you will rly like this record -- https://wwnbb.bandcamp.com/album/wwnbb-076-forget-me-not
| RadicalEd I remember that you like "The Sea Swells A Bit", Check out the new Aidan Baker album "Dualism" which is pretty similar except it's themed around space instead of being themed around the sea.
| Atari No problem haha. U mentioned u thought the songs I recommended sounded pleasant so I was just interested to hear what u thought of the rest of it if u get around to it. No rush or anything
| Atari Hey man, did u ever get around to hearing the rest of that Somos album? Just curious ;)
| Atari I think tracks 6-8 would be the best starting point for u. Opening track is nice but it's only 50 seconds lol
| Atari Definitely curious to hear what u think if you check that new Somos. Hopefully my turnover comparison isn't too far off lol
| Atari I do hope you go for it next time by the way, you're a fantastic writer
| Atari I don't know about that haha, but thanks man I appreciate it :] honestly I think if more people had actually applied for staff I prolly wouldn't have made the cut
| DoofusWainwright Ah cool, you'll be reviewing more frequently - will keep an eye out for your reviews
| DoofusWainwright Thanks JT, any chance you'll get promoted in the promised second wave?
| Jots thx man. and if I see it I'll tell you
| Gyromania such a shame you didn't get a promotion tbh. out of the contribs you, johnny, and jac were the best candidates.
| Boyproblems Ahem...Ebonics: 'American black English regarded as a language in its own right rather than as a dialect of standard English.'
| Frippertronics *by saying ebonics and his idea of slang is stupid both in context and on paper means that all Brits are black - truly, decay is the future innovator of British innovations or whatever
| Frippertronics no prob dude, did you know that by saying ebonics and his idea of slang means all Brits are black? I had zero clue, but now I know.
| hal1ax have you listened to the new Roly Porter from this year? pretty dece ambient/drone/industrial from this year.
| Frippertronics Raaaah, my man must be deaf if he likes visions and not dis. This is way superior, man's gettin' vexed now; Rah. My man needs to re-listen; chattin' s*** when he clearly don't know what he is on about. Rah.
| RadicalEd Doing fine myself. It's actually a leak (which I didn't even realize until you asked because it has so many ratings on RYM already).
| RadicalEd Hey dude, hope you're doing alright. Since you rated their last album quiet favorably I thought I'd remind you to check out the new "Quilt" LP, which is really good imo.
| Atari totally fine man, I only offered because I remember you enjoyed the album. I'll see if I can come up with a decent blurb for it
| Atari hey I dibbed the new tallest man on earth album but if you are interested in writing something for it you should just go for it. I've been quite busy, and I remember you enjoying his new one. of course if you don't want to that's completely fine too!
| Jom Just putting a bug in your ear that your team will have a busy week. Shoutbox or e-mail me if you have any questions. Good luck and have fun!
| Jots yeah I've got that Madlib collab in my radar too. there's a new Abdulla Rashim I really want my hands on as well
| Jots any upcoming albums looking good?
| Jots https://eileanrec.bandcamp.com/album/patriarchs
| Lord(e)Po)))ts pretty easily debatable tho tbh. as for new vanilla i cant rate it yet but my buddy put it on at work so i wasnt paying close attention but i remember enjoying it and a couple songs in particular being really really rad
| Lord(e)Po)))ts "My taste in hip-hop beats and production is the bomb" debatable.... but im glad u at least like other Vanilla stuff
| Lord(e)Po)))ts damn son ur vanilla rating is 'ignant as fuk. sall good tho i still love u even tho hip hop is your glaring musical weak spot
| Funeralopolis Oh woops I totally sent the message to the wrong person lol, sorry about that. I was actually meaning to ask Jethro
| Zackkkk Hey I have an ambient project and I just released a free album. I'm just trying to get the word out and I'd love if you'd review it. zackarykoah.bandcamp.com
| Let Oh word, sounds like an interesting discog. I'll def give those albums a shot
| Let I'll def check out more Benoit Pioulard. I've been listening to a lot of music in the vein of Americana and Folk recently, and that song def fits the bill. Cheers man
| Jots if you like Grouper you might wanna check her dream pop side project, Helen
| skeames1214 Yo a coin on the tongue was beautiful, solid rec
| Rowan5215 Yea one of his best, shame it never made it onto an album but it's uniqueness is what makes it so good for me
| Rowan5215 have you ever heard this? It was the song that really made me realise he was a thinking, feeling person and not just a pen writing lyrics for David to sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXn0RwGhUf4
| Totengott Mezzanine is amazing, I listened to it twice and found it really enjoyable, then I started listening again a couple days later and it grew on me even more. It was pretty accessible for me. Once again thanks for your recommendations.
| RadicalEd Yeah for sure, it's a luxury. Definitely one of the biggest upsides for me =D.
| RadicalEd Fine. Getting ready for my exams which is a bit nerve wrecking, but I'll manage. Mostly studying and listening to music right now.
| RadicalEd Hey Jamie, how you're doing these days. Have you ever heard of Patrick Watson. If not I'd recommend you check his new album. I think it may be up your alley. I'm really diggin it a lot lately.
| Graveyard Since you like venn rain type of ambient stuff, I recommend you check out tanner garza. He's amazing and this is my favorite release by him atm. Listen to With a Heavy Heart: https://tannergarza.bandcamp.com/album/regret
| Totengott I've wrote them all down, thanks again. I'm not going to lie, I've been checking Ulver's Facebook page multiple times everyday to see if they're selling the reissues.
| Totengott Thanks a lot, I will check them out. Do you have Perdition City on vinyl by the way?
| Totengott Yeah I can understand why. About the trip hop you also mentioned, do you have a few recommendations for me?
| Totengott That Spirit album you told me about is absolutely amazing, thanks for showing me!
| Graveyard Cool man and yea just take your time. Like I said before, if you have any questions regarding that album that might help with your review just let me know.
| Graveyard I'll be releasing a small EP titled "Photography Shield" later this month or the beginning of the next. It'll sort of be an extension of "The Structure of Hidden Fire." Containing about 3 or 4 tracks. I think you'll like it.
| Atari no worries man, yeah loud city song is amazing i thought about 4.5'ing it already but trying to give it more time to sink in haha. also really starting to enjoy yellow bell by jasmine guffond - especially lisa's opening and the title track
| Frippertronics The Wall thread is beautiful good to see you walked in on it
| Atari of the recs you gave me, i'm enjoying julia holter the most so far. her voice is beautiful and i love some of the brass instruments on loud city song. what's your favorite album by her?
| Atari right on thanks, i appreciate it and will give those recs a shot! : ]
| Atari hey man not sure if i asked you before but can you recommend me more stuff similar to grouper? i like grouper's folk and ambient stuff so anything similar to both would be sweet
| Graveyard Awesome! If you have any questions regarding that album, just ask me.
| Graveyard would be totally awesome if you could review the structure of hidden fire ;)
| Frippertronics Sup, hope you know that Permission is a Decayingmajesty alt like the Grand account, who was ousted by his own older brother (although it's obvious that Permission is Decay because the godawful grammar/punctuation with random words and repeated phrases)
| Permission Perhaps you are correct...perhaps indeed.
| rockandmetaljunkie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b2uuCk8Wj0 it's a bit all over the place considering the fact that I hadn't play this for 2-3 years, but i tried to do my best
| Rowan5215 You should give him a shot dude - he's like the Australian Leonard Cohen. Has the same sort of deep rumbling voice (albeit with a lot more range than Cohen), same kind of expansive poetic writing (although relying far more on wit and violence than Cohen's sensitivity to emotion) and he hops from genre to genre expertly. Seriously one of my favourite discographies overall.
| Rowan5215 will definitely buy when I have the chance. Are you into any Nick Cave?
| Rowan5215 Yeah Avalanche, Dress Rehearsal Rag, Raincoat and Joan of Arc are all top-tier stuff. I haven't heard Room all the way through yet but Bird on a Wire is classic. I can't say I have, are they all collections of poetry?
| Koris For sure, man. I feel like I'm one of the only people who doesn't like Wilson's solo stuff either. But it's one of the few times I actually agree with Anthony Fantano on something, which is that it feels too much like a textbook on prog music and not actually heartfelt and well-made prog music on its own. Pale Communion kinda felt the same way; too many nods to other bands and not enough of its own identity.
| Rowan5215 One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong might be his best song ever but as an album I'd say Love and Hate personally, too good from start to finish. I'm Your Man is also terrific
| Rowan5215 been obsessively listening over the last few nights, Famous Blue Raincoat at 4 in the morning is something special
| Koris http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/67486/Porcupine-Tree-The-Incident/ I've finally seen the light...
| Grand Adequate indeed, splendid evening.
| Grand Interesting... how are you good fellow?
| BigHans haha you had me worried dude. Anyway, doing fine, thinking of making a comeback. Peace out dude.
| BigHans dude, where the **** is the M/ on your pie chart??
| rockandmetaljunkie Hey man, what's up ? I've been listening to Black Bombaim the last couple of days. I think you should review Far Out.
| Torontonian sup jamie, i made a list ranking Lamb (pointless, ik) but i'm def curious to see what you think since its one of your fave albums as well. It's Genesis season!
| Cygnatti look at that mess i made (referring to genre tags): https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/ink_siblings/korova/
| evilford cool yeah I'll def check it out, you're a really good reviewer
| evilford sup bro hey check my list there's some lesser known thrash albums you might dig if you haven't heard
| Frippertronics maybe, just maybe. Check discogs, both Sun Ra RSD releases are going for relatively cheap, so I'm sure you can find them both at $60 USD max.
| Frippertronics shameless promo http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=158183
| Flugmorph i think mdm is an amazing genre. why the hate?
| Phlegm how's that new OPN man?
| rockandmetaljunkie I don't have a problem sharing it with you, but I don't want to use this public platform. If we could make a private discussion, I wouldn't mind sharing it with you.
| RadicalEd Polyhedrons is stunning. New Benoit Pouilard, not so much...
| pissbore globalchernobyl.bandcamp.com check us out bro
| StrangerofSorts thoughts on the new Benoit Pioulard? https://pioulard.bandcamp.com/album/stanza
| RadicalEd Yeah agreed. Btw, if you have time maybe check the review that I did today, would like to get some feedback.
| RadicalEd It's the evolution of the third lp, more varied instrumentations, his voice is a lot smoother most of the time and the sound is more layered. I think it's great his songwriting is top notch as usual and I dig the overall sound. I could see some people disliking it because it's not "Wild Hunt pt.2"
| RadicalEd Have you already checked "Dark bird is home"? It leaked yesterday! If so, what are your first impressions?
| Snowdog808 I'm glad to know we share a kickass live Genesis vinyl Jamie. If you are interested, I'd love for you to post your favorite songs by progressive metal's big three on my new list.
| Frippertronics oh damn rip in pepperoni JT's chance of making it past this round, also this match against Chan is gonna be real close
| ExplosiveOranges Goddammit Jamie, you're a total broseph, but you and I both know that nobody can defeat Jombomb.com.
| Snowdog808 Hi again Jamie. I hope you are having a nice month. I just found the vinyl version of Too Old to Rock n Roll: Too Young to Die six days ago. You may like some of the others I obtained lately on my recent list.
| Frippertronics haha man thanks, though I've not really been paying much attention to the thing besides the occasion check-up, I'm surprised I even made it.
| PotsyTater man that marika hackman album is tooooo gorgeous.
| Atari dude, i have 4 tull vinyls already! even scored a used copy of taab with the newspaper that you told me about. for some reason jethro tull records are a lot cheaper at my record store than most popular bands so i pretty much bought out all their tull
| CaptainDooRight everytime i hit submit it errors and goes back to the list start page, so annoying, i already talked to mods about it and they said everything is fine
| RadicalEd I'm pretty much on the same page about lesser known prog, but I think that this one is up there.
| RadicalEd You like good prog, so I figure you'll like this good prog album. It's a bit hard to swallow at first because it's in portuguese, but I think it's very good overall.
| RadicalEd Hey jamie, have you listened to that Jose Cid album (10.000 anos?)
| Jots have you checked the new biosphere / deathprod collab by any chance?
| Cygnatti I'm glad you dig it. The rest if the album is just as good, tho generally more subtle. Personally, mother sky has never done anything for me but I have been rather neglectful of it. so I we both got some listening to do, eh.
| Cygnatti i think you'd really appreciate this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4eXMRPKy50
| Torontonian been listening to that Spirit album so hard lately. Definetly see why you love it so much. THat album really should be on every RockNRoll fans essential listening list.
| RadicalEd Nice, I'm stoked to read your thoughts on that one. Already rec'd it to some guys, but a proper review will help increasing the profile for sure.
| RadicalEd RR Variation is definitely one of the best tracks of 2015 so far.
| RadicalEd Yeah it's great. I just love the atmosphere.
