| Storm In A Teacup My favorite part of the new Thy Darkened Shade album is the bass when it gets rolling. Do they have an album with even better bass?
| MarsKid Sorry to hear that my man. If you change your mind, let me know. Sending positive vibes :^)
| MarsKid Hey my man! Are you looking to write for Dawnwalker? I had it marked down, but seeing as I already covered them, it'd be great to get another writer's voice involved. Let me know!
| garas Hello! This is a reminder/notification for something [contributors only]. More info here: shorturl.at/hxC89
| dmathias52 Ayo, check the contrib forums to call dibs for end-of-year list
| Muzz79 Hi linguist, I?m new to this site this year but been listening to metal for over 30 years and found your digs, especially this year?s finds, closely align with mine. Vast majority of great new stuff I found this year, you?ve already rated! Latest example being Borgne. Cheers
| OmairSh Going to review the new lunatic soul album dude?
| Sowing I added a summary to your Ensiferum review so that I could feature it, figured you would not mind
| DDDeftoneDDD Dodheimsgard is giving me Akercocke vibes. Am I that wrong?
| DDDeftoneDDD damn that Immortal Bird slays...considering the bump
| DDDeftoneDDD 2nd listen was with the video...was awesome m/ repeated listens will do...
| DDDeftoneDDD I bump your soundoff yes sir, cause it makes very sense...hoping that will grow on you though m/ cheers
| Chamberbelain Holy Roar is my favourite label and I'm a subscriber to them so you can bet that I'll be doing a lot more. Cheers!
| WatchItExplode The heavy Madder Mortem songs are like 4.5 and the ballads are excruciating, like 1.5. I settled on a 3.
| Bloon Is your forum pic seriously blackface? Wtf
| Frippertronics From the records I've heard (Eight Miles High to Switch), I find their career trajectory very interesting. Moontan is probably the best of the bunch, but the 1970 self-titled is close behind. Very Focus-influenced hard rock stuff on those 1970-72 albums.
| Gnocchi I forgot to say man, thanks for keeping the Sensory alive.
| Gnocchi I did, but I?ll revisit when I get out of this tired funk I?m in. Can?t wait for a day off work. Hoping it?s got some room to grow
| Gnocchi : [ sad face it is then lol how?s everything your part of the world
| Gnocchi Still your 3/5 makes me sadface lol
| Gnocchi Why you no like Usurpress. Much sadness
| Gnocchi Does italics and bold and URL links etc
| Gnocchi link looks good, just bb code it : ]
| Gnocchi It?s good to be back, thanks bro
| Gnocchi Certainly, and with life so demanding it?s not like we can re-write the same lines 1000 times to ensure a perfect sentence.
| Gnocchi Make that 6 reviews lol. Yeah I know what you mean - just got to shake off the rust.
| Gnocchi Well I?m pretty refreshed, I think I?ve already popped 5 reviews up here this year. I had my break and found a balance for my real life so hopefully I?ll get my contrib tag back lol
| DrGonzo1937 Alright man. Just double checking if you're doing that blurb? The top 50 list starts publishing tomorrow, that's all.
| DrGonzo1937 Yo! You checked out the contrib thread in the community section of the site? We need you to check out the top 50 list bud
| Jom I sent you an e-mail but received a bounce-back. Is there a better way to write you?
| Frippertronics thanks. I'm doing this mainly for the band's facebook group, which the band (past and present) are involved in and I figured since it's been 22 years since a compilation of this type has been released, it'd be logical enough to it for the fans of today.
| Frippertronics with the vaguest of blessings from the higher ups, i am putting together a compilation and would like fans to vote, including u http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=596c713ae4b004432b10717b
| teamster Enjoying Foscor. Great little write up and I agree.
| AnimalsAsSummit i appreciate you rating my last album i did with my band count to altek. ive just released a new ep under my other project king green if you have any interest - https://kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/consumption-of-mother-brain-through-parasitic-drone
| zaruyache I casually listened to some of it and I'm pretty sure they ripped off actual sunbather parts, too :3
| zaruyache Cheq new nullingroots? I saw you liked their last one and they have a new one out.
| TheBrutalMaster Hey man, if you have time, you could write a review for my band's latest album! http://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=210894
| Jots drop into the contrib forum when you get a chance
| Frippertronics Yeah, the album itself is pretty good ambient. Though in the 80s/90s when the band had their stuff reissued on the Mantella label, they often tacked on random tracks. The Touch Me/Six Pieces albums had the two versions of Joined by The Heart, The Spell had a live version of Fand, etc.
| Frippertronics Well, Reverberations is not an Enid track, it's a solo piece by Godfrey from the Reverberations tape. A good tune, but not Enid.
| Frippertronics You've heard up to Something Wicked This Way Comes, right? I forget.
| Frippertronics I'll give it another try later because I got my old reviews of the first twod by request - though having Region on the front page is a sure sign of what happened. You'd probably convince them better than me, but whatever happens happens. It'd be a good way to get more traffic on the band's sput page or whatever by spreading out the reviews to their right spots
| Frippertronics Hi, just wanted to let you know I requested your Enid reviews to be moved to their rightful spots (since you reviewed the remakes of the first two albums, and not exactly the originals). Hopefully, you're fine with this development as I'm going to do some edits to the band page in the coming month.
| Frippertronics dunno if you noticed this. only have White Goddess/Journey's End/Invicta and I'm all set for the new album. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/67863/The-Enid-Tripping-the-Light-Fantastic/
| rockandmetaljunkie Yeah man, Gary is probably the most emotional guitarist I have ever heard.
| rockandmetaljunkie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b2uuCk8Wj0 it's a bit all over the place considering the fact that I hadn't play this for 2-3 years, but i tried to do my best
| Voivod Hi man, I'm not thinking about reviewing both albums right now, be my guest :-)
| manosg Thanks Robert, glad to be on the team!
| Jots sup man. I think the mods are sorta putting a kibosh on staff/contribs posting reviews in 2 places - thought I'd give you a heads up
| rockandmetaljunkie Hey Robert, if you like Candlemass or Epic Doom in general, you might love these guys: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Crypt Sermon/64352/
| Frippertronics hey, i was wondering about your reviews of the first two Enid albums. The material you reviewed was different, as you wrote about the 80s remakes, which makes some points in them kind of irrelevant (like any mention of Francis Lickerish, who wasn't on the remakes)
| rockandmetaljunkie It would be interesting to see what points you will raise with that review and the reasons you rated it so high. I couldn't give this nothing more than a 3.5.
| rockandmetaljunkie Nah, I can't promise I could write one anytime soon, now with Cathedral's discog my hands are full atm
| rockandmetaljunkie Hey Robert how you've been ? holy ****ing Christ, 151 reviews in four years. That's really something. Keep up the good work man.
| Gyromania super late here but congrats on the promotion! i didn't even notice until just now
| menawati thanks, belated grats to you too.
| greg84 You were my top choice for contrib. Congrats!
| Yuli congratulations man :]
| Atari congrats dude you definitely deserve it
| Crysis Congratulations on the promotion man, keep it m/
| rockandmetaljunkie Hey Robert sup ? I was so looking forward to seeing you getting promoted. Out of all the guys who applied, you deserved it the most. Congrats man, you are a great asset to this site.
| tempest-- Awesome, good luck dude. I really hope you get it :D
| tempest-- Hey man, are you intending on applying for contributing reviewer?
| Voivod I saw your soundoff about the new Tad Morose album, are you thinking of reviewing it? I'm asking because I have written a review already, which will be posted during the next few days, if all go well.
| Calc no, thank you sir
| Ecnalzen Thanks! I am looking forward to it.
| Gnocchi Welcome to the team! Ive sent you the email
| Gnocchi All i need is an email address for the invite, and a facebook add to get you on the staff page
| Gnocchi Awesome! They don't have to be new albums, we even have a 'retro' category for album 10plus years old. And the minimum is three a month, which extends to news, streams and interviews as well : ]
| Gnocchi Meltingalbumreviews.wordpress.com youd be an asswst dude, let me know if you want in : )
| Hoppoman Yeah I do, apart from one or two from the 1980s. Which I might get by the time I get around to reviewing that time period.
| Voivod That's what I thought too when I applied for contrib and staff and reviewing is a hobby for me too, it's just that i scrutinize everything so my reviews ended up worth reading.
| greg84 I totally understand you, but it's nice to be appreciated from time to time, isn't it? Anyway, I definitely support you and wish you all the best.
| greg84 Thanks a lot. You were actually on my shortlist. Shame you didn't make it. Keep on writing and cover one new release or two from time to time.
| Voivod Thanks man. Don't stop the effort, keep writing and that contrib status will be a safe bet.
| Jethro42 Yeah both bands play folk, but BN are more Celtic, and MA are widely influenced by Pink Floyd, as you can see. Plus Heather Findlay has such a beautiful voice.
| Jethro42 Yes I personally discovered both Blackmore's Night and Mostly Autumn at the same time, and I found myself abandoning Blackmore's Night, cos I prefered MA over it.
| Eclecticist Email: lara@thealtreview.net (the owner of TAR). In your email, a) introduce yourself, b) mention that you were recommended by me (Joshua Hummel), c) tell a little about yourself, d) include some URL's of what you think are your best reviews, and lastly e) say why it is that you review albums and what it is you seek to gain by becoming a part of TAR's staff writing team.
| Eclecticist Hey dude I read some of your reviews, including the Benediction one that you posted yesterday, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing for The Alternative Review? You'd be required to review brand new albums within 2 weeks of their release but you seem very apt at writing in general so I don't believe that this would be a problem.
| greg84 It's a bit too late now. The voting closed last weak. Cheers.
| LarryArms we prefer the term mentally disabled feller
| LarryArms gayest year ever 2011 is for pussies
| TheNotrap Yeah 'Subterranea' is really an awesome work. IQ is one of the most underrated UK bands of the past 30 years. And thanks for your kind comment on Marillion's review.
| TheNotrap Sweet news man. The concept is very cinematographic, so with the right director, actors and budget, it has everything to become a great movie. Thanks for info man.
| TheNotrap Your review didn't deserve a neg man. Stay true.
| greg84 Believe it or not, but some people specialize in this stuff.
| greg84 Hmm. I actually looked it out at message boards and figured out what happened. UhhKris has reported your ratings to the mods for some strange reason. Sadly, you can't bring them back. I'd be furious too if I were you.
| greg84 Hmm. What happened to your ratings dude?
| Xenophanes So did the new Terrorizer leak or is that an anticipation rating?
| greg84 I like your Dixie Witch rating. You seem to be the only one user to check this out apart from me. Keep on rocking!
