| earlaundry so.. i now eventually convinced that there is any south east asian user other than irving on this site. glad to see port of lima and venomous review..
| GiaNXGX What's up man! Long time no shout, I'm XGX.
| VlacDrac If you are interested in Jazz Fusion, you should listen to Bitches Brew and In a silent way, both from Miles Davis and Thrust and Head Hunters from Herbie Hancock.
| SgtPepper Yeah, I have. You're right, that's a fun little album.
| JamieTwort Sounds great. Haha don't worry I hadn't forgotten him, it's just that I already know the other two whereas I'm not familiar with deLucia.
| JamieTwort No problem man. Looking at your recent ratings has reminded me that I need to check out that Friday Night in San Francisco album. I love Al Di Meola and John Mcluaghlin so I definitely need to hear that, especially seeing as you've rated it a 5.
| JamieTwort Hey man, check my latest list, there's some stuff on there I think you would like that you might not have heard.
| silentpotato haha oh man, the more you get into the tribal and any kind of eastern influence the more help i will be for ya. Glad you dug it. Masada is a real trip too, one of my favorite John Zorn projects.
| silentpotato try to check out some of their live stuff, its unreal. that tabla player holy ****.
| silentpotato hell yeah dude, Shakti is headed by John McLaughlin, same dude from Mahavishnu
| silentpotato yee Mahavishnu is gold, especially since even Massive Attack samples them :p. Enjoy dude, let me know what you think, there are plenty more recs where that came from if you dig any of the particular styles.
| silentpotato Land of Kush-Against the Day, Mahavishnu Orchestra-Inner Mounting Flame, Masada-Yod, Mulatu Astatke-Ehtiopiques 4, Shakti-Natural Elements, The Cinematic Orchestra-Motion
| silentpotato some of these might be a tad bit of a reach as i lean heavily towards lots of world and funk and jazz and experimental just s*** mix influences but all amazing and you will enjoy, new Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Exuma-Exuma, Cymande-Cymande, La Mar Enfortuna-Convivencia, Oren Bloedow
| TheFonz123 don't mention it man, if you want any other jazz reccomendations just ask me :]
| XGX Thank you :]
| SgtPepper You're introducing me to some good really stuff. This was a pretty good jam, the guitar solo at the 5 minute mark was sick.
| XGX Just responded to your message on my latest review Zed, sorry for the late replay... was feeling sleepy yesterday :] (zzzzzzz)
| SgtPepper Thanks. And holy s*** that was one bloody brilliant Jam. My god, they even have more videos on youtube- I'm bookmarking this band, they are amazing.
| Jethro42 Hey dude! Thanks for the links. As for Indowebster, do you think it's safe? Cos I dont trust too much the website I dont know (viruses and things). So I'll possibly pass my turn with that one. Thanks again!
| CaptainDooRight thanks bro, and did you say that your brother plays in that band Discus??
| Jethro42 Do you have a physical copy of Guruh Gipsy? If not, would you have a good link to get a copy? Same for Discus; I havent found it anywhere...Thanks!
| CaptainDooRight yeah i have one of the discuss albums, remember, you rec'd it to me about a month ago, solid album and really trippy
| Jethro42 haha Nice about Bubu. And no, I havent heard about Discus. I take good note, thanks dude!
| Jethro42 Guruh Gypsy sound really great, thanks. I could see you digging Bubu - Anabelas. Cheers!
| Jom Your account was listed as awaiting email confirmation. Chances are the site's email was sent to your junk folder, so I just manually moved your account in the same fashion I did for havey. Thus, you should be all set, but feel free to shoutbox me again if an issue arises. Cheers.
| JamieTwort My pleasure bro. I'll be looking forward to those Derek Trucks reviews.
| JamieTwort Also when I said about Duane Allman's playing being more powerful and him playing with more feeling than Trucks, that also goes for his playing in general not just his slide playing IMO. He really was an incredible guitarist.
| JamieTwort Trucks was indeed a member of The Allman Brothers Band but not until 1999. I'd say At Filmore East and Eat A Peach are the most essential Allman Brothers albums but any of the albums featuring Duane Allman are worth listening to. Glad to you like Irish Tour, incredible live album.
| JamieTwort Hey Zedo. Yeah I am familiar with The Derek Trucks Band (although not as familiar with them as I am with The Allman Brothers Band) and yeah I'd say there's definitely some similarities between Trucks slide playing and Duan Allman's. Pesonally I prefer Duane's slide playing as I feel it's a bit more powerful and has more feeling, particularly when playing live (see Live At Fillmore East).
| Irving Aside from that I don't really know much huhu =S The only other thing I can think of - frankly - is for you to stay away from Monoloque's (of Butterfingers fame) debut solo album, Jejak Tanah 1. It blows pretty hard. Hmm, if there's anything this conversation has made me realize, it's that I definitely need to listen to more local stuff. Check back in a few months and hopefully I'll be able to give you a better answer then! =p
| Irving Hi there! Firstly, thanks a lot for your warm congratulations - it means a lot to me to be Staff on here, so cheers for that =) I take it you're Malaysian as well? (judging by your "salam perkenalan" lol) Where exactly in Malaysia are you from? Anyway, regarding your question, I'm actually quite poorly versed in local music. That being said, one local album which I've heard is pretty good is Hujan's Sang Enemy - actually thinking of going to pick it up this weekend lol.
| Maniac! Perfectly understandable. Make sure you come back and comment from time to time!
| Maniac! I've been reading your reviews and am impressed. I was curious if you'd be interested in branching out to movie/game/book reviews. I have a website where users can contribute reviews of other mediums of entertainment. Lemme know if you're interested! http://wiredreviewers.com/
| Yuli Thanks a ton, dude. :D
| BirthRite Your grammar is great and true life can be good and sometimes bad. Have your ever thought why bad things happen in the world?
| BirthRite Wow that's almost a twelve hour difference. I'm in California. How's life treating ya out there?
| BirthRite Hey what's up its 11pm where I am. What time is it where your at?
| Trebor. Holy s*** how do you write reviews so fast?
| SgtPepper Well, I can't wait for your review. That album on youtube is amazing, I honestly cannot stop listening to it. Some of the best modern Bop i've heard in a while.
| SgtPepper WOW! this band is amazing, the songs on youtube are ****ing incredible. It's not Jazz Fusion, it's more like Hard Bop because I dont hear any electric instruments, but my God what intense music. I'm downloading this album. I cant wait for your review
| Voivod I have a lot of lectures to attend to and a lot of really gorgeous girls to talk and relate to ;-). Take care :-)
| Voivod The only Jan Garbarek album I own and have listened is 'In Praise Of Dreams' which is great, so this is the only one i recommend for the moment ;-). As for the reviews, I write 3-4 reviews every second month. I wrote three reviews in June, July is a month of rest reviewing-wise, I will start writing in August. Apart from that, I'm in a chemical engineering summer school in Slovenia, Europe and the last thing my minds runs into atm is reviewing
| Venpts16 First of all, I'm glad that you enjoyed that Rage album! I personally consider them to be one of the stronger power metal bands out there, and I'm glad they are getting more recognition. That said, I may look into that Lord Symphony band. It is always good to find more good music, especially power metal.
| SgtPepper Thanks Zed. And yeah theyre pretty big in the Jazz scene. Me and my old band covered a few of their songs for fun. Glad to hear youre enjoying the Weather Report.
| BirthRite what do you believe in where you are from?
| SgtPepper Hey Zed. I would say start with Streetnighter and Live in Tokyo (This one has really crazy jams). I think those are two of their best. I hope you enjoy them.
| SgtPepper Haha, yeah I'll review it. theyre both two of my favourite musicians. Thanks for telling me about it Zed.
| SgtPepper No I haven't, but I'll definitely check it out. Wayne Shorter and Carlos Santana together, thats going to be one mindblowing jam.
| SgtPepper I know what you mean, the Euro has been getting intense. If I remember correctly, you said you were rooting for Germany. It sucks that they lost to Italy, but it was a really great game. I'm hoping for Spain or England to win it all.
| Venpts16 Travel in Stygian comes from Night of the Stormrider, and Slave to the Dark is from The Dark Saga. I personally love both songs and albums, and I hope you do as well.
| Venpts16 For Iced Earth, there are a few albums I'll recommend. Night of the Stormrider is closer to Thrash Metal, and has a different singer; though it is not quite as heavy as Burnt Offerings and I personally prefer Matt Barlow as a singer. The Dark Saga is a slower and simpler album, but still contains some Thrash Metal-like songs and Matt Barlow as the singer. I'd suggest listening to Travel in Stygian (original version) and Slave to the Dark to see which album you will like more.
| SgtPepper Hey Zed, I think you may have accidently neg'd my review while you were trying to pos it, if I'm wrong then forget it. Anyway, I read your latest review good to see you back!
| Venpts16 Land of the Free was my first Gamma Ray album too, and, if you ask me, Somewhere Out in Space is even better!
| ThrashTillDeath94 Hi Zedo, nice to see someone on here who shares and affinity for old school thrash. I am currently reviewing American thrash but don't worry, European bands such as Sodom and Destruction are in fact on my list. Expect to see those reviews within the next couple months. Cheers! - Drew
| BodomThrashMachine Damn saw your comment on ThrashTillDeath's profile and yeah, you're right, Infernal Overkill is criminally overlooked and underrated. Hope one of you guys will review it soon \m/
| CaptainDooRight Yeah man I was trolling a little bit but it might be all resolved now. Jus having a little. Thanks bro I got your back too man :]
| CaptainDooRight yup haha I'm the only one who is able to dig it too because the album was taken off the database but the mods didn't cancel my dig. normally you can only dig existing albums so I've just kept it for months in my faith that an album will come out soon. haha it's supposed to be before the end of this year.
| CaptainDooRight also that's awesome that I see you rated Orphaned Land. The song off that album called "The Flood" is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. In fact I'd say it's in the top 10-20 songs I've ever heard.
| CaptainDooRight Yeah lol the lyrics are pretty random. Here's some deeper prog is you're down bro: check out "Steve Hackett - Voyage of the Acolyte", "Manilla Road - Crystal Logic", "Atrocity Todessehnsucht"[dm prog], "Ozric Tentacles - Jurassic Shift"[space prog], "Phideaux - Snowtorch", and "Beardfish - Mammoth", these should keep you busy for a while ;]
| Venpts16 I'm glad you liked Wintersun! Their debut was one of my first listens of Death Metal and I really loved it.
| Voivod I just saw your post about Angel Dust... Both albums - with the second being almost superb - are excellent. If you want to listen to them, let me know.
| TheNotrap Yeah those tracks rule damn hard. The title track is also one of the best moments. Glad you've enjoyed the album man, keep rocking.
| CaptainDooRight Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink, Camel - Mirage, and Rush - Hemispheres[I obviously have alot more but I'll go with those for now]
| CaptainDooRight cool bro nice sound off, I'll definitely check it out, looks interesting
| CaptainDooRight Cool bro glad to see you dig the prog and my reviews. Yeah prog is where it's at. I plan to review some more. You keep up the reviews too bro. It's really encouraging to see you so consistent with what you love and value. :]
| Jethro42 A dificult task right here. I'd say ITCOTCK, RED, Larks Tongues, Discipline and Starles and Bible Black. Then come back to ITWOP and go chronologically (Island is really meh though). Enjoy!
| SgtPepper Yeah I have yet to write a negative review, but i need to write one if i want to be taken seriously. And I havent heard clapton's unplugged album, ill check it out.
| SgtPepper Glad you liked it and yeah its a great album!
| BlueW oh also the used bukan screamo asli
| BlueW baru 1 ep, mau rilis split ama ep lagi satu. True screamo BTW tapi campur post-rock semacem Envy/Pianos Become the teeth
| BlueW hey suka screamo gak? Kalo suka check bandku A City Sorrow City
| BlueW aku rumahnya di bali tapi ini lagi di perth, aus
| Venpts16 Helloween hardly comes here; you are a very lucky person for seeing them live! As for No World Order, you can't go wrong with that one. I love the variety in the album, from fast Speed Metal to anthemic Power Metal. Everything is awesome on it, in my opinion.
| Venpts16 Their three best albums are Land of the Free, Somewhere Out in Space (my personal favorite), and No World Order. I would say that you should listen to them in that order, because Land of the Free is pretty heavy and epic Power Metal, though I personally prefer Somewhere Out in Space (which is a little more melodic) and No World Order (which is a bit unoriginal, as it is very similar to Judas Priest's Painkiller).
| BlueW yo, soalnya aku orang indo... band sucks balls
| BlueW superman is dead lawlz that band...
| SgtPepper Yeah, I saw the game. Oh, well theres always next year.
| CaptainDooRight haha cool thanks bro, yeah I chose to restrain the voice little because i wanted it to be more ambient than a full vocal moment, im glad you like it though bro, already inspired for writing more
| CaptainDooRight haha cool I'll take those pro tips :], check my recent thread bro, I just wrote an ep which is more of a serious project, it's my solo ep which is progressive acoustic guitar folk
| CaptainDooRight hey bro check out my newest ep album on my recent list, the download is free and up on mediafire
| SgtPepper Yeah i still watch it. I'm a fan of Manchester. though I like the Spanish league more, FC barcelona is my favourite.
| Anthracks Gah I can't take all the postponing
| Crysis kittehs and space what's not to love?
| SgtPepper I'll be sure to check them out Zed, thanks for the suggestion I'm always up for good Prog. Also I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Sound Of Animals Fighting.
| Anthracks Sambil menunggu progress album baru Rebirth Of Jatisunda, Jasad segera meluncurkan design baru TS...design segera di upload
| CaptainDooRight cool man I can't wait to hear them and check them out, it's always cool to see the roots of music in any region especially metal m/
| CaptainDooRight cool man, that's the way to do it. represent your peeps, cool man well I'm really happy to have you on this site and keep doing what you're doing man :]
| CaptainDooRight cool man I'll definitely check it out and give you feebback, may take a day or two for me to get to it but I'll write it down right now. where are you from?
| Anthracks Thanks! Good news. And yes I did change, hope you like it lol
| Anthracks Ada yang mau bocoran materi terbaru Jasad ?Man masih take vocal minggu ini.translate please, lol
| CaptainDooRight cool man, glad you somewhat dug it, you'll prolly love King's Evil and Opprobrium, their waaaay more intense bro
| CaptainDooRight I wrote a review for "Ketzer - Satan's Boundaries Unchained", check it, their a black trash band. and Incubus was the original name for death thrash band Opprobrium. check "Opprobrium - Beyond The Unknown". also check "King's Evil - Sacrosanct"[ I wrote a rev for this too, jap thrash band] there's not many good ones nowadays but I come across some good ones now and then, let me know what you think bro
| CaptainDooRight have you heard of the main thrashers like Toxik, Sadus, Kreator, Sepultura, Ketzer, King's Evil, Incubus?
| CaptainDooRight I knew what you were saying my brother. I'll compile some for you, gonna make a run and brb with some rec's
| CaptainDooRight bro your english is trippin me out, is that your style of slang?
| Anthracks Sounds good. Thanks for the info dude.
| CaptainDooRight ok bro I checked out Revenge, their riffs are a little weak in the effectiveness area but play tech quite well and slightly reminiscent of Origin. Drums are solid, the vocalist has a certain signature but may not be to everyones liking. i listened to both those songs as well and I liked the anitpope the most due to the obscure riffs, some of the riffs sound like Gorod, id rate the album at about a 3-3.5 imo
| Anthracks Do you happen to know if Bleeding Corpse are working on anything new? And/or Asphyxiate?
| Anthracks Wow thanks for that man. I can't wait. They need to put out an album every 2-3 years, they are masters of the riff.
| Anthracks It was originally supposed to come out in 2010 :(
| CaptainDooRight and yeah bro I'll check that album out most likely tonight and let you know what's up
| Anthracks give me some insider info on the new jasad album :X
