After their first two IDM-based albums, Autechre began to change there sound here, on their most acclaimed and influential album. Tri Repetae++ is what the world would sound like if the machines took over. In ways it is completely desensitized, but in others it retains the human emotion and inspiration from Amber. It's Autechre's middle-ground, between their IDM/ambient works of the early 90s and the harsh glitch that would come about in the late 90s and ealry 2000s, and it represents Autechre's musicianship more than adequately. Although I prefer Amber, Tri Repetae++ is a landmark electronica release that must be experienced.

I'm very lay about electronic music and all its aspects, from IDM, Minimal, Drone, Techno and so on. I have created a great appreciation for Autechre, much for its authenticity and widely visionary and strange conception. "Tri Repetae" is what i most listened to, and from what i see, the most respected from them. I had given a full rating for this work, but over time it has been dropping a lot in my concept. I don't know how to explain it, but maybe it's my own block to that kind of genre. Anyway, "Tri Repetae" is very interesting and deserves to be listened countless times.

Tri Repetae is undoubtedly some of the strangest music out there. I say this for more reasons than one, too. First off, it's some of the least visceral music ever composed, as the entire thing sounds like a top-secret supercomputer calculating an answer to solve the most complicated mathematical problems imaginable. It sounds like it itself is a robotic entity and that it is trying to simulate music that can evoke emotions and feelings, but ultimately failing in its endeavor. Secondly, I've never heard something that can pull this cold, emotionless, robotic aesthetic off so thoroughly while also creating something that is at the very least slightly enjoyable to listen to, even if it has to be taken in doses. Lastly, depending on how you listen to it, this thing is either a breeze to get through (background listening, using for study music, etc.), or completely impenetrable (attentive, focused listening), which is actually fascinating. Maybe the album is more interesting than entirely loveable, but the concept here was executed to the utmost perfection. And even if I didn't like the music, I'd still have to give Autechre credit for that.
