3.0 good | breakingthefragile | April 6th 13 | Cunningly seductive industrial tones from the darkest corners and sleakest textures
of synthpop are still seeping from Depeche Mode's music this late into the group's
influential career. This is a very mature album that's aged well like fine wine, and
mainly focuses on their brand of lusty and erotic sex soundtracks that have a slow
burn, which strangely isn't awkward in the least bit coming from men in their fifties
because Depeche Mode have still got the moves. They've proven that they can still
stay relevent and effective with themes as heated as the one's found throughout
this album because of this transcendent suave they possess. Though, the album is a
bit uneven. It's really an album's worth of songs with slow and sensual heartbeats,
which doesn't give much in the way of sonic variation or speed differentiation. It
would have been nice to at least have a few of the sophisticated new wave dance
tunes for the clubs that Depeche Mode is known and praised for making - and has
continued to show they're still able to produce at this point in their careers on their
last few albums in the 2000s - to balance out the abundance of lounge tracks, and
get the blood pumping at a quicker and funkier pace here and there.

4.0 excellent | musicjustrocks | March 19th 13 | Delta Machine, the new album from pop-electronic titans Depeche Mode marks a strong return for the trio with dark lyrics, powerful synths and Martin Gore?s trademark guitar sound. Welcome to My World kicks things off with cinematic sound, a huge chorus and industrial thumps, and deep lyrics sung by vocalist, Grahan.rAngel, My Little Universe, Should be Higher, Alone and Soothe My Soul continue the album?s dark theme, and give Grahan a chance to perfect his crooning, aggressive voice. The album?s first single, Heaven, is melodic and atmosphere and slows down the pace.rAlongside a few brooding , industrial tracks, the album also showcases some pop-electronic sounds that are more reminiscent of the group?s early days?songs like Broken, Secret to the End (the album?s catchiest track) and Slow Touch / Raw Nerve.rDelta Machine?s final track, Goodbye, pulsates with incredible force, driven by a distinctive moody guitar riff, with the outro featuring a final clash of sounds and energy.rThis may not be an album that will welcome in new listeners, but it is sure to please old and new fans alike.

2.5 average | MadBaron | February 14th 15 | Though I am a huge fan of Depeche Mode, I am not overly fond of this album. The sound and
overall production is impressive, I love how they've gone with a more abrasive, hard edged
sound but the songs themselves disappoint. Despite the stunning production the songs tend to
be more dull than captivating. The lyrics are especially weak on this album; they all strike
me as terribly contrived, corny and melodramatic (even by Depeche Mode's standards). Don't
get me wrong, there are some excellent tracks on here such as the epic, swaggering "Angel"
on which Dave Gahan evily snarls his way through like Nick Cave. "My Little Universe" is
subdued and introspective, and has probably the most depth you'll find on this album. "Soft
Touch/Raw Nerve" with it's relentless pounding and killer hook, while incredibly repetitive,
is a great pop song.

4.0 excellent | yoKenny | May 12th 13 | I've never been a fan of Depeche Mode but this album hit me hard. All the songs sound slow
and calm, but powerful at the same time. The careful fusion of synths, drums, basses and
voices shows off a lot of experience and work behind this project.
Highlights: Welcome to my World, Heaven, The Child Inside, Should Be Higher, Alone.
