The worst part of this album is the point in Shoddy Workmanship where the clean arpeggios come in and you realize 40 minutes of perfect pop-punk is about to end.

Probably the pop punky post-hardcore album I've liked the most so far. Touches of emo at
times. I liked the first few tracks the most and the last few tracks the least, with some
annoying parts towards the end. Had a fun time picturing Michael Scott jamming this
though. 3.7

This would be a way higher rating if it wasn't for the one singer. I just don't like his voice. I like the guy on "Adultery" and "Lakes", he is sooooo good. When I hear the other guy I just wish it was him who was singing instead.

The biggest surprise of 2013 comes in the form of 'The Future Is Cancelled'; the 2nd LP from Pennsylvanian quartet Captain, We're Sinking. Best described as punk with flourishes of emo & post-hardcore, the technically accomplished music is not only intense & emotional, but deceptively melodic. This is despite the captivating lyrics which contain lashings of melancholy, as delivered by the dual vocal attack of Bob Barnett & Leo Vergnetti. Containing no filler, this powerful album not only builds well to individual climaxes, but progresses cohesively as a whole. Recommended Tracks: A Bitter Divorce, Annina We Will Miss You, You Have Flaws, Here's To Forever & Brother.

A simply remarkable sophomore effort, from the likes of a band that alongside The Menzingers, Title Fight
and the late great Tiger's Jaw (R.I.P.) have served to further solidifiy the absolute dominance of Scranton/PA
scene as of late. Undoubtedly a serious contender for AOTY.
