If you want to hear a middle-aged man cathartically crooning about repressed sadomasochism rfantasies over some cheap Halloween-ish synths ripped straight from some cartoon about kids rdiscovering spooky aliens, then boy oh boy is this the album for you.

Easily their best album since Issues. It actually reminds me of Issues, just with a bigger sound and more electronics. It's nice to have Head back and hear some actual atmosphere in the songs.

Best korn album since untouchables for sure. The electronic parts on this weigh the album down imo. They rsound like they were produced by a 5 yr old. At least on the path of totality it sounded cool due to actual rdubstep artists collaborating. All other facets of the album are surprisingly solid. Good to see they can release rsome good stuff with head back.

Am I the only one who thinks TALITM was their last truly good nu metal album? Either way this is awesome. I actually think Lullaby for a Sadist is the best track which is funny as this one was written before Head rejoined.

Must be my maturation showing, because while The Paradigm Shift is a definite step up compared the 4 post-Head albums, it lacks the bite which first dragged me in upon listening to Issues and Follow the Leader.

I think the people giving the album any rating below 2.5 are just the usual haters downvoting everything Korn comes out with. Or people who were pissed off by the ONE single "Never Never" and have not even given the rest of the album a chance. People need to start realising how great every other song on this record is, because it really is a promising effort from them. Think about it, "Never Never" was made to introduce people who don't listen to Metal, to Korn. How fucking genius is that? People, LISTEN to the damn album before you vote!

Here Korn sound more like seasoned musicians having fun in the studio (and the documentary is proof) without the limitations of trying to satisfy a particular fanbase. It's not the usual bleak Korn sound. The soaring chorus of Mass Hysteria is a perfect example, or the tender section in Punishment Time, or the "crazy shaman" chanting in Lullaby for a Sadist, the mechanical-sounding bridge of What We Do... there are memorable moments distributed in every song. How to say it, it sounds like Korn, yes, but an adult version of the band. One that isn't afraid to let some instrumental colour slip into the angst. Perhaps, one thing I can say is that in a sense there are too many brief interesting moments sprinkled throughout, in the sense that most of them -as welcomed as they are- should have been developed more. Like the thrashy harsh bit in Paranoid and Aroused for example; the harsh vocals in general feel rushed because they are always brief and scattered. Anyhow this is easily one of their most solid albums, and for me easily the best since Issues (Serenity included).

Definitely their best effort in a while. Still not excellent, but its got some good tracks. Prey For Me and It's All Wrong are the top tracks. The latter has easily the best guitar on the album. Fails to top Love and Death though.

With this album came a shock as Brian 'Head' Welch returned to set Korn on the right track again. To me this truly is one of their best pieces of work since "Issues".

To this day, many people out there in the universe applaud Korn, and they'll be at odds with the naysayers and cynics who commonly mock these sort of bands. Though it may not be an excellent offering, there's quite a bit to like about The Paradigm Shift, but mostly because Jonathan Davis and the others sort of try to recreate that old magic again. To the group's credit, some of the material on here barely lacks energy and can be fun to hear for what they are, mainly "Punishment Time," "Lullaby for a Sadist," and "Prey for Me".

This album impressed me so much that I didn't have turn it off after the first few songs. I can't say that for the last few Korn albums I've heard. Even if this band isn't really my dig anymore, it's good to know that Korn's bottom was indeed Path of Totality, and that they've made a decent bounceback from that. Due to Head & Ray?? Probably.

Almost there, Korn, almost there. This is another case of 'Death Magnetic': the band is trying to recreate their old glory days when their hearts clearly aren't in the right place.

This is the best work in the after- Issues era for Korn in my opinion. Their style has changed a lot since then, but I have found their formula to be very decent in this album. The return of 'Head' on guitars has helped a lot and the improvement is evident. In addition, they have been using synthesisers in a very effective and efficient manner. Recommendations: "Love & Meth", "Spike In My Vains", "Mass Hysteria", "Paranoid & Aroused", "Tell Me What You Want"

Korn releases and album that actually sounds like Korn again for the first time since Untouchables. I guess 1 con is it still sounds like Korn. But I am not going to lie, this does scratch that nostalgia itch I have considering Korn was at one point one of my favorites.

***damn guys, calm down. Yes, Untitled was horrible and yes, The Path of Totality totally lay out of their comfort zone, but: See You On The Other Side definitely broadened their musical horizon plus Korn III was definitely not bad either, what ultimately leaves us with just two out of their four last records being shit. Just because Head himself came back, everyone that stopped after Untouchables crawls out of their holes again and thinks their opinion truly matters. Gosh...now get your facts straight, catch up on these last albums and rate this one again - afterwards. If you would honestly do so, The Paradigm Shift would never in life get ratings above 3.5 - a CD featuring barely 50% tolerable material. I mean come on...Lullaby For A Sadist is the easy carry here and they wrote the song without Head. Also: if you turn the volume up and for one time stick to your good headphones, you would hear the loudness war that goes on in nearly every track, outshining the vocals and disturbing any harmony there is, for instance and especially prevalent with the dissonant synths at the chorus of Track 08, timestamps 1:11-1:33. They are fine before and after, but in the chorus, it just kills your ears. Plain and easy as that. Tl;dr: no guys, instead of listening to this mediocre record, I rather cry for my 'daddy' and 'follow the leader'...jm2c.
