Beautiful. Breathtaking. Emotionally compelling. Intellectually stimulating... Initially, minimalistic in nature, though it's only a faint veil of an apparition, for the exponential complexity that lies in wake of its depth. If only drugs could have an effect this enticing.

This band is an enigma to me, and it makes it that much more enjoyable. The curious medley of gentle folk and driving blackened guitar compliment eachother in a way I didn't really think was possible. Favorite album of theirs.

This is such an inspired melding of genre but I cannot tell what could've inspired this. Agalloch's The Mantle comes to mind but that was a year later. This, and bath are incredible statements, and they complete each other in a way that makes me want to give bath (the component I feel is marginally superior) even more kudos

Part two to the avant-garde metal/art rock masterpiece Bath, Leaving Your Body Map is a darker incarnation of an already immaculate style. While not as cohesive as its predecessor, it makes up for this by being the peak of maudlin of the Well's musicianship and songwriting talents. It retains a similar atmosphere to Bath, but once again under a much darker umbrella. The meaning behind this record is just as vague as the first, but after listening to both records over time, I've formed my own interpretation of it, which goes as follows: both albums are about the afterlife. Bath is about someone dying suddenly and unexpectedly and wanting to escape from the afterlife. Maybe they succeed, but it's just as likely they don't. Leaving Your Body Map is about someone who wants to die and commits suicide, and they let the afterlife envelope them and take them away. It's probably not correct, but that's how I see it regardless. Whatever it all means, Leaving Your Body Map is an exhilarating conclusion to a phenomenal duo of albums.

Darker than its sister album, Bath. Overall, it is a weaker listen, due to some drawn out parts ("Bizarre Flowers / A Violent Mist," "The Curve That to an Angle Turn'D"), but it is still a phenomenal record. The production is fantastic, the interlude tracks are both superb, and Bath's uniquely captivating atmosphere is present here too, albeit in an aforementioned darker form. Also, Driver's vocals are better on this release than on Bath.

Simply put, the second half of perfection. Its ideas aren't quite as clearly stated and bound to one another as 'bath' but it still manages to be immensely impressive on a creative and compositional front.

Superb. Really. Some of these songs are really deep, and demonstrate that the band has reached their maturity. Despite this I don't think it's better than the classic masterpiece "Bath", nor their latest album "Part The Second", a true hymn to beauty, but still worth listening.

Amazing. This, along with Bath, is one of the best albums I've heard in a long while. The musicianship is great and Toby Driver's vocals are up there with the best of them. "Monstrously Low Tide" is insanely brilliant.
