Really hard album to rate. The guitarwork really stands out again, and every song is great, but mid-tempo just doesn't suit The Menzingers well. These songs just don't hit as hard for me. It's a better overall album than OTIP, but doesn't reach the highs of that album.

The Menzingers make pretty much a straight up alternative rock album. It's pretty good. It will not, however, change Channing Freeman's life this time around.

The menzingers make a straightforward, somewhat mainstream punk album while still coming up with intricate melodies that stick out. These guys just continue to make great music with each release.

I wish I could rate this album higher, as the Menzingers have become one of my favorite bands, but Rented World is definitely not their best project. This is a much darker record than the excellent OTIP, and many things still work for the band, but there are a few dull moments that I'm not used to hearing from these guys. The lead single, I Don't Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore is disappointing and just lacks some of the punch of their previous work. The band still fills this record with interesting instrumentals, excellent hooks and catchy melodies, it's just that it's more of an intimate album this time around, mostly dealing with heartbreak. Rented World does boast 2 of the band's best songs in Rodent and Nothing Feels Good Anymore, so there is still plenty to like on here. Other great songs are Bad Things, Where your Heartache Exists, The Talk and Remission.
