This album is absolutely huge. The riffs are progressive, the drumming is absolutely wicked, and the ambience in every track really pleases my ears. This could easily be a 4.5 or a 5, but what really drags this album down is the production. The snare drum in particular distracts me constantly with how sharp and fake it sounds. Some of the ambient sounds also have a crackling sound that detract from their effect. The guitars and vocals sound much better, but still not quite as intense as The Harvest Wombs. Even with the glaring production problems, The Flesh Prevails is still a damn good album. Definitely give it a spin, you might not find the production to be as bad as I do.

I really want to like this album, but it falls short in a few areas. It could breathe more, for one. It's only 42 minutes but the album is so dense it's an exhausting listen all the way through. Another 8 minutes of ambiance or space would do it some good. I feel it's trying to tell me a story but I'm having a hard time absorbing it. As others have said, I'm not a fan of the production. It's too crowded and poorly layered. Perhaps I'll be wrong after I get a higher quality version of it. Other than that, it has some powerful moments and some pretty amazing parts that can really transport the listener to another world.

First time I have ever wanted to give a album a perfect score! This album is amazing and
exceeded my expectations. The solos gave me goosebumps and made my hairs stand up, while the
ambiance leaves a calm and relaxing feeling that haves me coming back for more. Do not
listen to the hipsters, it is not "overproduced" and sounds great. THIS ALBUM IS A GAME

"The Flesh Prevails" is one of the most incredible progressive pieces i've ever heard in my life. In the old days i had the dubious impression that Fallujah was just another forgettable band that adds nothing to the genre. Disregarding this preconception i had with the band, i describe in my own words that i am more than impressed. Everything is amply perfect here, from the production, the instrumental, the design of the songs and the cover art. One or another song made me not give a perfect rating.

Last year with the release of their EP ?Nomadic?, Fallujah seemed poised to take technical death metal and even death metal in general into a new daring direction with beautifully atmospheric and emotionally impactful music. I guess on Flesh Prevails they deliver on this initial promise, but not without a few bugs in the machine. The main thing that held this album back from being a master work would have to be the overly compact production which really goes against what Fallujah were going for with this album. Everything feels tethered to earth instead of free to roam the soundscape as it should. The album does drag on a couple of tracks as well. Still, this is a truly amazing release which is about as ambitious as one can get and on tracks like Levitated, Alone with You/Allure one can see just exactly what these youngsters were going for and respect them all the more for basically achieving it. Best Tracks: Carved From Stone, Levitation, and Alone with You.

As much as I want to rate this higher I cannot. While some of the songs on here are absolute masterpieces there are too many moments that are just plain boring. This album minus the boring parts would easily make this album a 5 but the boring parts just bring the album down too much.

While all instrumentation and vocals might have been recorded on a potato, Fallujah pull off a diverse and atmospheric album just in time to save us all from the many repetitious death metal foul-ups of today. If anything should be proven in the wake of this album, it's that the structure they've build can and will be refined.

Solid album but it is another overrated album by many in the sputnik community. It has a
nice atmosphere and a good flow, but it really doesn't excel at anything. The solos are
mediocre, the riffs are pretty good but nothing special, the drumming is fairly good as
well, but it isn't really progressive. However, I don't understand the complaints
about it being overly techy, it isn't.

Didn't like their first album that much, to be honest. Had some cool moments but didn't really grab me. This album, on the other hand, is completely insane. One of the things I dislike about tech death is the fact that I can get easily bored with it, but this album is engaging from start to finish. This is easily the best metal album I've heard in years.
