Amongst a plethora of bands on the hardcore scene in Britain caring more about what they're wearing than what they're playing, it has been hugely depressing seeing bands like Bring Me The Horizon explode worldwide. One band amongst the community, however, stood out, to use some British slang, like dog's bollocks. Enter Shikari didn't so much arrive as stagedive headfirst into it- and if their debut is anything to go by, then they're here to stay.
Two things set them apart. The first is the inclusion of some highly danceable and well-executed synth and electronic drum patterns- of course, they're not the first to pull such a thing off, but I'm strained to think of one that's done it better in recent years. The second is the genuine sense of fun about their music- the energy levels are always high, and even when vocalist Rou Reynolds is screaming to the point where it is noticeably straining his voice, the music never seems angry or overly aggressive. From the insistent catchiness of "Sorry You're Not A Winner", the anthemic self-titled track and the sentimental ballad "Adieu", Enter Shikari cover a lot of ground. They show a lot of promise for the future- and I can't wait to see just where they go from here.

Agree with most people, poor and unoriginal post-hardcore band with a dance track gimmick that sounds like it took all the talent of pushing the eurodance button on the keyboard to create.

There's something about the hypnotic mess of manic hardcore -- complete with a distinctive
techno atmosphere and pretty harmonies (Adieu rules) -- that keeps my inner 14-year-old self
coming back to this.

I think this album is one of the best albums i've heard. The mix of Post-Hardcore and Trance music makes the perfect Trancecore combination especially in Mothership which is the song which really kicks off the album. I admit there are some down points in the album, hence the fact that I havn't given it a perfect rating, such as the screaming in the opening of Return To Energizer making frontman Rou sound constipated. But OK, Time For Plan B definately brings the album to a satisfyingly epic conclusion!

Not as original or groundbreaking as the hype machine suggested but it doesn't deserve the inevitable backlash it got designating it as utter crap. While it's not a real meld of genres and the synth plays an extremely basic role it does have a lot of experimentation in various other areas which curiously comes out to something completely average but in an interesting way. The energy of the album powers it through its bad moments but it never really transcends it. Doubt they'll ever be a great band but they'll probably never be a boring one either.

This is a band your either going to love or hate and I happen to love them. I got this album from a friend and was addicted to it for about 3 months straight. I think its a cool idea and am excited for the next album.

You've gotta give these guys credit for their synth work. Lots of bands have tried the whole synth+post-hardcore thing, and I think these guys know how to use it best. They give the breakdowns this awesome vibe, when lots of other bands just drop the synths during breakdowns.
This album definitely isn't for everybody, but if you're into the whole synth/hxc thing you'll love these guys.

I don't want to sound like a preacher boy, but just think: They've only just got on to the mainstream scene and they've already been nominated for several awards.They can't all be that bad.

A great debut album from Enter Shikari, only let down by the lack of new material on the album (fans will have heard it all before) and some poor quality production on the vocals. Other than that, every song is a winner.
