Listened to the deluxe edition...it leaked...I know I know I'm horrible. I've always been a fan of Manson but I did notice the dip in quality during The High End of Low and Born Villain was a tad better. The Pale Emperor, aptly referencing Bowie, is Manson back doing his thing with some new direction. It's great. This is one of his best records in awhile and some of his most mature material he's ever put out. Recommend.

At this point in shock rock musician Marilyn Manson's career, the man is in his mid-40s. They say that as you get older, you're also bound to become wiser and more refined; apparently this happened to Manson, if his ninth studio album is any indication. Sporting a newfound blues influence whilst keeping that signature industrial flavor we've all come to know and have mixed emotions about, The Pale Emperor is reinvigoration in nearly every sense of the term. Instrumentally fresh and simultaneously familiar from an atmosphere standpoint, Manson's latest offering is bound to win over many who had previously abandoned him. Quite frankly, this is an ingenious record that requires patience, staying calm before the storm of disposable teens, and the subtlety of a demonic, mute couple. The Pale Emperor is an overall mystifying album.

This is the most inspired Manson has sounded in years, his old industrial style infused with blues works really well as demonstrated on one of his best songs in a long time, 'Third Day of A Seven Day Binge'.

It's very unsettling to listen to Marilyn Manson in 2014. The guy went from very original and disturbing industrial "goth" rock/metal to simple classic sober rock. Although the music is an improvement over the high end of low and born villain, it is nearly not as impressive as it once were. And god ! Could someone tell him to stop fucking his rhyme/rhythmic/singing patterns just because he thinks it sounds cool to pretend he doesn't give a shit about anything=> "Slave only dreams to be king" 2m34s.

I think someone has been listening to some Dax Riggs and Jerry Cantrell over the years. But seriously, this album could stand alongside their Holy Wood album. The rhythm sections are grimy and nearly "as sludgy" to that of JC's Degradation Trip but much heavier. Aside from a few tracks having some repetitive lyric stanzas, this album is a pretty decent industrial album. Although some may argue THIS album has a sound that could've easily been heard & performed during the '00-decade, which (imo) only a handful of industrial acts made some stellar albums during that decade anyway. Still nice to know that Manson still had another great-worthy album in him.

Not nearly the same band from the 90s. This is mostly mellow and catchy rock with a slightly dark atmosphere and a bit of a rhythmic delivery. Probably his best album since Mechanical Animals.
