those solos shouldn't be mistaken for just really cool or improved solos. those solos combine sweep picking, tapping shredding and string- skipping so elegantly that it makes me shit my pants. the reason to why the bass loses it's melodic undertone is due to the excess in melody shared between the guitars: forgivable. vocal work, UGH, must i say anything?
this justification is horribly ill-written but i'd love to discuss with anyone to why and how this album is close to perfection  ..

When it comes to melodic metalcore or however you want to classify it, few bands can match the quality of Darkest Hour on this album.

I'm not climbing on any roofs to declare a thing about this album, but for "Doomsayer", "An Ethereal Drain", "Stand and Receive Your Judgment" and especially "Tunguska" I declare it every bit worth 3.5 - 3.7. I may have totaled a car for the first time (and under sketchy circumstances I might add) in Fairfax County, but Darkest Hour definitely goes far in redeeming it from my resentment.

Fabulous totem of the melodeath scene. Deliver Us is a triumphant achievement in that it crystallized the defining characteristics of an extremely prolific genre extremely well and yet separates itself from the pack by virtue of its superb execution.

Feel free to disagree with what I have to say, but Deliver Us could quite possibly be Washington, D.C.-based melodeath ensemble Darkest Hour's best record in general. If I'm not jamming its predecessor in the form of Undoing Ruin, then you'd bet your bootyhole that I'm listening to the songs off this album more times than one can even count. Not only did the songwriting get kicked up a few notches, but everyone who contributed to the material on display was at the top of their game. Deliver Us is filled with various gems, such as "Tunguska," "A Paradox of Flies," "Full Imperial Collapse," and especially "Demon(s)". These tracks, as well as the rest of the CD's material, make up an overall indestructible melodeath experience.

reminds me a lot of undoing ruin for some reason. i think it is overall a really good cd and deff worth having especially if you're a darkest hour fan. the recommended tracks in the review are right on. there are other good ones too.
