It's a shame that this album doesn't get mentioned as much compared to the rest of Underoath's discography

Sometimes changing band members can improve the band. In this case it did not. Dallas can scream, Spencer can not. This album has good use of keyboard and Aaron still does his thing, which is ok i guess. Some songs may be abit repetive but overall this is Underoath at it's best and probely always will be.

Underoath has a very special place in my heart. They were one of the first bands to get me into the "heavier" side of music. The first material I heard from Underoath was off of They're Only Chasing Safety. Then, I heard some stuff off of Cries Of The Past and Act Of Depression. And finally, I heard some stuff off of here. To this day, this album still contains some of my favorite Underoath songs, such as: When The Sun Sleeps, Alone In December, Never Meant To Break Your Heart, etc. I find this album to be the most emotionally charged Underoath record for the most part, my favorite with Dallas as vocalist, and one of my favorite Underoath records overall.

It's difficult for me to be objective on this album because it means so much to me. "Alone in December" is one of my favourite songs of all time and got me through an unbelievably tough period in my life. However, objectively, this is no more than a good screamo/hardcore album with outrageously cheesy synths and (on the odd occasion) lyrics. The emotion in this album is what bumps it to a 3.5 and a worthwhile listen.

I am sorry, but no matter how many spins i give this one it does not click with me. this the worst album of the dallas tayor era. their are some good cuts but overall their is not much staying power. this 'screamo' style (using the term screamo because i feel this album qualifies under that genre) does not go with taylor very well. overall this could be seen as an inferior version of "they're only chasing safety" at least the synths and drums are cool

If only the rest was as amazing as "When the Sun Sleeps". I hate having to feel like a normie with an album, but the rest does not hold the same momentum.

Dallas Taylor carries this album, but even his solid vocals cannot save this album from being. . well. . average. The instruments are nothing special, the only saving grace is the occasional synth line that makes it interesting. Though I'm still partial to Angel Below and When the Sun Sleeps

Pros: About half the songs are amazing and downright beautiful.
The keyboard playing adds amazing effects to the songs.
The screaming is bearable for me, a non-screamo fan.
Cons: Some songs are pretty depressing. Too short. The "singing" is more like talking. (except not in When the Sun Sleeps)

Dallas Taylor at his best. The first 2 UO albums was just random deathcore, while not bad, it's definitely something you can't listen to ALL THE TIME. This CD actually has structure in the songs, and they make progressive music. So, basically, they are an actual band in this one...i guess. This album sorta leads into what UO would sound like in the future. It's a good album, and i prefer it MUUCHHH more then the last album.
