In From Chaos 311 went for a more experimental search for what all you can do in a studio. The massive amounts of table's in this disc is noticed by SA. 311 displays two major sounds; a more alternative rock sound and a cool island jazz feel.

Not enjoying the abrasive direction this band keeps leaning towards. Any reggae influences heard in their prior works appear to be fading. I prefer their first album over this even w/ some of their more spin-worthy tracks like Amber.

yea 311 are a bit silly...always were. Though From Chaos is probably going to their best album balancing their old school silly rap metal-meets reggae/ska sound with a more alternative rock approach that makes some nice chill jammy songs that are simply fun. Although their softer jams (champagne, Amber, I'll Be Here For Awhile) makes you wonder and slightly beg that they would explore that realm considering it seems to be a very unlikely strong spot in comparison to the rest of their...ridiculous songs.

Though I find this record doesn't really fully pick up until its latter half, this is probably one of the better 311 records. Despite being a fan of the band's music I've found most of their efforts somewhat inconsistent. This, fortunately, does not play into that aspect, avoiding it for the most part. There are enough strong tracks here to put forth a solid offering, so this may be a good place to start for new 311 listeners.

This is an average album at best, a typical mish mash of styles on here, it is unfortunate that 311 pull none of them off with any distinction. 2 worthwhile tracks (champagne, amber) but the rest is filler.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that From Chaos is the best 311 album to date. Every song on it is amazing. Pure 311 energy at its finest. It contains every aspect of what 311 had done up until that point, and therefore, has songs that everybody will love. Even if you hate this album, you will probably find at least one song on here that you won't be able to get enough of. They need to play more of this album at their shows.
