3.0 good | po0ty | July 22nd 15 | Good to see a band unafraid to actually change (sorry ABR, surf-interludes don't really count ;) ). Northlane has taken on elements of alternative-metal while at the same time eliminating some of the annoying metalcore cliches (uninspired forced clean vocals & songs structured entirely around mindless breakdowns for instance). And they still sound like Northlane. Highlights include 'Soma', 'Rot', and the fantastic closer 'Animate'.

4.5 superb | cloakanddagger | June 15th 15 | Let's all rate an album a 5 before it's even released.
Edit: Alright so it's definitely not a 5 like the helpful people who rated the album before it was
released thought it was, but it's a solid record. I think at this point people who are expecting
another Discoveries or Singularity shouldn't bother with this, but it's a good example of slightly
proggy metalcore. The album production isn't the best I've heard but it's not bad at all, the
lyrics are pretty good, the vocals are excellent and the drumming is very solid. The guitar work
is simple but effective, even if I feel like they could have done more with it at times. This
probably falls somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for me.

3.5 great | xiLeadFeather | July 22nd 15 | Super refreshing for a "metalcore" album though I definitely feel like they're drifting further and further away rfrom the genre. Most of the "core" is in the form of breakdowns, whereas the structure and progression of the rsongs remind me more of alternative metal or "post" music (post-metal/hardcore/rock) where the instruments rare used to create different textures and soundscape. Marcus' vocals fit perfectly for this version of the band rand though the production may not be the records high point, I don't think it hinders the overall outcome in any rway.rEDIT: I think this album is very bottom heavy. I much prefer tracks 6 -> 12 to 1 -> 5.

4.0 excellent | InFiction | July 20th 15 | Don't go into this expecting regular Northlane because it's the furthest thing from Discoveries or
Singularity. 'Ohm', 'Leech' and the newly recorded 'Rot' all sound massive, and 'Animate' might be one of
my favourite Northlane tracks.

3.5 great | BtwntheAKIRAndMe | July 20th 15 | Low 8 out of 10: The vocals on this performance are absolute amazing. Everything else is pretty damn nice but not nearly as strong as the vocals. Pretty damn great LP nonetheless!

4.0 excellent | ALONEAFLAME | April 4th 21 | I've never heard drums mixed as good as in Node. Cool sounds and good sound-writing. Cohesive. Only 1-2 weaker tracks (Ra/Animate). This album would be perfect if it had more jammier/progressive elements to it.

4.5 superb | Joran | March 24th 17 | My first Northlane album. And I got to say it was an eye opener to more progressive metal. Adrian is gone from the band and Marcus is here. He brings a less heavy but really soothing and melodic side to Northlane while still having that amazing ambient sound. I think the lyrics aren't as spititual as before. But the change is nice and really not something bad.

4.0 excellent | lecolumbus | September 4th 16 | Northlane (mostly) break from their metalcore trappings and stereotypes to deliver a fulfilling release. Hopefully they will continue to tear away, as the experimentation and melodic elements on this album are its biggest accomplishments, making Northlane likely one of the most adventurous bands in the scene at the moment. While they're losing their "heaviness", it isn't necessarily for pop accessibility a la modern BMTH, they seem interested in crafting some interesting music. Soma, Obelisk, Leech and Animate come through as the best songs on the album, while Impulse falls short with generic lyrics about how we're all too connected to the digital world at the moment. Very insightful, grandpa.

5.0 classic | HeavyMetal25 | August 6th 15 | What was once just a metalcore band with Prog Elements has evolved into something else. Northlane is still the metalcore band you remember. Though some really good elements have been added to make this albums stand out from the rest. New vocalist Marcus Bridge adds alot to the table. The clean vocals are now better then ever. On some previous albums they felt forced with Adrian Fitipaldes when it came to the clean vocals. Marcus makes the vocals way more interesting then before. A step up for sure with Northlane's new album. Instruments are as solid as ever. The guitars are always pounding in you're face but the chugging is at an all time low. There are more unique riffs in this one. Something that metalcore needs. The drums are powerful and the bass kicks in most of the time so you'll be able to hear the sound quite well. There is also a greater emphasis on signing rather then full blown screams. In short, That makes Northlane's progression even better and the screams are still solid overall. This does not downgrade Northlane at all if you are curious. Overall, Northlane's third studio album is a remarkable one at best. It's amazing how a band that's only been around for six years has done some really great things. The new vocals really add a spin to this band and it shows that this metalcore band will continue to evolve as time goes on. Highest recommendation overall for so far one of the best metalcore albums of 2015.

3.0 good | trilo | July 22nd 15 | first half of the album is pretty much filler for me, sans Obelisk. 2nd half is where it gets pretty dang good.
